Despite two weeks of appalling weather my wife and I had a fantastic fortnight in this hotel. It is located just above a picturesque tranquil bay which provides a pleasant view of nearby islands. During our stay, we saw a few pleasure boats on the sea and the occasional local fisherman. The food was fantastic and the staff went a long way helping us make the most of freak, disappointing weather. The place was relaxing, with friendly, informal and respectful staff. The young restaurant and bar staff were mainly from nearby countries and the Tui reps were from a range of Scandinavian countries. All staff worked from the same admirable agenda.
The layout of the hotel would be challenging for less mobile guests on account of the different levels on the site. Evening entertainment was low key but enjoyable with opportunities for dancing. Furnishings were modern and the style was uncluttered. Our package allowed for one meal in the posh culinarium. We enjoyed our evening there but it convinced us that the fare in the main restaurant was admirable. The bedroom had a pleasant sea view and met all our needs apart from being unable to receive UK news on the TV.

A hotel that sets the standard

The hotel in an excellent location right on the beach and a 10 min walk along promenade to the old town and marina.  The beaches in Makarska are pebbles and you need shoes to walk on them (plenty for sale in the nearby stalls for £6) The hotel was very nice with a pool and plenty of sun beds if you want them.  The rooms were spacious and the beds large and comfortable.  We had a sea view room which had a small balcony and the views were lovely.  The only criticism I have is the the bathroom had a shower over a very high bath and it was quite difficult to get in and out of. The food was good with plenty of choice for breakfast.  We like cold milk to have in our tea in the room and the staff were more than happy to give us a small jug to keep in our fridge.  The scenery in Makarska is amazing and I could sit and look at the mountains all day.  There were plenty of restaurants in the area but I was disappointed that there did not seem to be many local dishes on the menus  it was mainly pizza, pasta or steak.

Very nice hotel

Our original reservation did not work out when we arrived in Makarska and we needed a place to stay at the last minute. The phone was answered promptly and we had a room reserved for us within minutes. The location was great: just far enough out of the central area to be quiet, yet and easy walk to the main sights of the area.

The room was clean and comfortable and did not lack for anything. Our nights were generally quiet and the Wi-Fi was strong. The breakfast was not the best, but there was a choice of items and we found something that suited us. The one thing that stood out the most to us was the friendliness of the staff. 

Two things: 1) the map listing on TripAdvisor is incorrect. The hotel is actually a couple of buildings away from where it is indicated (GoogleMaps has it marked correctly) and 2) they have a big German Shepherd on site. It is a well-behaved dog, but it sometimes barks at night.

A very comfortable stay

This summer ( in august) I have stayed in Meteor hotel for two weeks. During the first week everything was okey: the room was cleaned every day, good breakfast and dinner, except internet - it was terrible! But, during the last week everything has changed: I must say that the room wasn't cleaned ( they only changed our towels), there were so many people on breakfast and dinner ( often we couldn't find a place where we can eat). But, the situations with internet hasn't changed - it always was terrible. 
To addition, dinners costs their money, so if you don't want to find every day a place to eat you may enjoy your meal in the hotel. 
To sum up, I should say that this hotel isn't so bad, but there are a lot of minus that should be correct!  


August vacation 

The reception staff were friendly and very helpful - Mia and Svetlana. The     housekeeping staff also. The room was clean and comfortable. Room 205 on the 2nd floor looked out to sea but the view was blocked by pine trees on the promenade. It didn't matter as it was fun to watch the antics of the squirrels. Choice of meals and food was plentiful and if a dish wasn't suitable the helpful waiters would offer a substitute. Dining can be inside, outside or just across the promenade from where the beautiful sunsets can be seen. The centre is a pleasant promenade walk about 15 minutes from the hotel. The bus station is about 15 minutes away but there is a nearer bus stop. Bus fares are very reasonable. The bus route to Split is along the coast and was 52HRK going, and 50 HRK for the return. The bus to Tucepi takes 7 minutes and costs 10 HRK, to Pogora 20 minutes and 15 HRK. Both are worth a visit. Also worth visiting in Makarska are the shell museum and just a 15 minute walk from the Hotel is Vepric which is a peaceful sanctuary based on Lourdes.
A day cruise to Hvar and Brac is pleasant and the boat comes into a jetty just opposite the hotel. The only downside of boarding here is that others have boarded in Makarska and so have the better seats. Makarska is a beautiful location and in the latter part of May not so crowded. English is widely spoken and the people very helpful. There is plenty to see.
 We went on a Jet 2 holiday. The only complaint that we had was that it is quite a steep hill down to the hotel  - just a short walk but  we all thought that the transfer coach would have gone a bit further where it would have been possible to turn round. It is quite a pull back up  with cases, to get to the point where you meet the transfer bus for the return.
As we went with a company we can't comment on the pricing but had no complaints about the hotel at all.

The hotel not recently built is very close to the historic center of Makarska. The room where we stayed is spacious with a pool, equipped with climate, mini fridge and safe, the bathroom is dated as accessories, but spacious. There is no elevator to go up to the floors but it has its own parking and in Makarska is not small. Breakfast is acceptable (since the subscriber drinks tea and cookies in the morning) for those who want more and scarcity. Attention I booked by booking. At the time of paying, with a ATM, I was asked for more on the proposed booking price of 16 euros for the bank commission. I don't know if it is regular but for me the title is marked above.

Good starting point

And so I stayed with two friends from 13/08/2015 to 22/08/2015: Third floor without a balcony elevator. Breakfast (if you can call it that) consisted of a slice of black bacon and totally no milk cookies or anything else, the same thing was done until ten, at 10.10 a friend of mine from travel asked them for a glass of water that was denied him, denied even when he ended up in the hospital and asked for hot water so we could have a tea, was denied and answered in a bad way. In fact, breakfast was never made because there was no one. The owners are father and son, the boss or boss and they were totally unavailable to hospitality and little hospitality, instead, they were always waiting for the whole day.

Disappointing

The location is top, right by the promenade. You can easily reach the hotel beach if you take the guided tour right at the exit...just below the promenade. The hotel has 10 floors. If you're lucky and get the room upstairs you have a gigantic view, on one side the sea and on the other side the huge Biokovog mountain. In nice weather you can have breakfast on the terrace with direct sea views. The fruity floors buffet is, by the way, very good for Croatian conditions, there's something for everyone. On Thursdays there's always a gala dinner with Dalmatian live music, it's also very beautiful. The hotel is definitely worth a trip.

Holidays at the Dalmacija Hotel

Excellent staff friendly  do not speak Italian but speak English well. Rooms with air conditioning and WI-FI internet. Unfortunately for the high rooms, there is no elevator. Small private parking, but the staff still finds you a small spot inside the yard. The city's parking lots are few and all paid. Possibility to dine at the hotel with only 9€ per person. Or the centre of Makarska only 2 minutes walk away, there are many restaurants and pubs in the center.
