Filip and Luka (especially Luka) were very happy and excited about participating in Maro club activities. The staff was very friendly and the kids loved them. They enjoyed themselves and are looking forward for next year.

Family holiday Lopar 2022

We booked a room at san marino camping resort for 10 night,  for 3 person. The 3-person room has a double bed and an approximately 160 cm long and 50 cm wide armchair bed with a raised headboard.Contrary to the photos, not all rooms have a balcony, so check the confirmation message.The window overlooks the parking lot, so it is extremely loud. Trucks are loaded under the window between 6 am and 6 pm. You have to tell them to refill the empty soap dispenser.The breakfast is not very varied. If the watermelons don't run out, they are put out the next day, and the third day...Overall, a disappointment compared to a 4-star hotel.

Vacation

I am just wondering why do you have to reserve a free zone , when all other campsites dont have that kinde of policy. I love San MArino but last year we were refused at the reception because we did not have a reserved free zone and we were all very sad about that.

We had a pleasant stay, especially receptionist Dijana was very kind and helpfull.We will come back for sure.We fell in love with tge resort. It was everything great we will back next year. I recommended

San Marino camping resort

standard campground. Good organization, basic infrastructure, no specials like pools etc. Superb location at dream beach and restaurants, bars, cafes. Bit on the bigger side, lots of crowded pitches, but somehow with charme and trees with shadows.
Had a mobile home which was clean, large and well equipped. Recommended!

Classic Campground, superb location

General

We visited this place first (and the last) time in August 2021. It’s an urban camping place without immediate natural atmosphere. If you want nature, you have to walk/hike not so far away (Lopar has beautiful nature and forest by the sea). We usually prefer camping places with some free room to find the sweet spot for more enjoyable camping. Here we’ve found the area with sardine-in-a-can packing system, with some pine trees overhead to provide some shade if you’re lucky and some sap if you’re unlucky.  There is also a free camping area with impression of a public park, we took a parcel in zone A-Standard. Most guests were repeat guests, generally 80% from Germany.

The Good

Sand is everywhere. If you don't like sand, don’t go there. Some parcels have layer of grass or gravel, but most are pure sand which eats your trailer/van wheels quickly. There’s a long sandy beach (mostly overcrowded). The shallow water is warm, too warm.  Unique natural sandy artefacts (rocks) can nowhere else be found but there at small nearby islands and beaches of Lopar.  Amusement for kids is active, however on a substandard quality level, but just good enough for Croatian hosts. I think San Marino is excellent for kids who need nothing but company and fun by all means. Kids don’t criticize as we screwed up adults do. 

The Bad

Restaurant on the east side of camp is really poor in quality. But gastronomic offer for tourists in Croatia is very hard to find anyway. I guess tourists don’t ask for more than a french fries and fried chicken. Waiter was so rude in approach, it took just a bit more for us to stand up and leave. They obviously earn too much during high season... 

One general shop (“Konzum”) is available in the camp with basic offer of food and drinks. No camping accessories, no hand held laundry soap, no bio-cosmetics or bio-food, no extra offers for foreign tourist who is used to more and willing to pay for more. This shop is tailor made for mediocre Croatian, but I don’t see it has a place in the international camp. Another “Konzum” with 30% more offer is available 4 minutes away by car. 

Mini-golf courses are damaged, broken, misaligned, but money is taken without a shame nevertheless. 

The Ugly

Reception at the entrance accumulates cue of guests waiting for a long time to be served. We were amazed with such disrespect. While staff is polite and helpful, they just don’t have enough capacity to catch up with expectations of normal service. Capacity equals investment, investment equals money spent. Case closed. 
Camp has a rule of night silence from 23 until 07. But it’s often ignored, triggered by obvious: no one from camp security actually monitor if guests are disturbed by other guests. Drunken Germans can have a lot of fun sometimes.  

There were so many boats on the beach in the water; enjoyment of nice sandy beach was killed by that. 

We’ve been to many smaller camps before; this is the biggest so far. With the worst sanitary facilities! My 10yo son has developed acute constipation because he got nauseas of smell and visual appearance of neglected toilets, so he didn’t want to go there. Smeared s**t on the walls was there all two weeks of our stay. Yes, there are many guests who don’t care to leave the toilet the way they want to find it again. Is management of the camp ready to cope with that? I don’t think so. Cleaning ladies were wandering around like bees, but without strict schedule and efficient technique, their effort is just futile. 
Showers with broken or completely missing hooks for clothes... occasional lack of hot water in the middle of showering... clogged shower heads... I wonder how this camp got four stars! We’ve been in two stars camps with immaculate toilets and showers. I guess we got spoiled by lower rated care for guests. What a paradox!

Conclusion

A nice place with great potential, but incompetent management. However, so many return guests actually prove that this description of camping place can actually be favourable for some. We were so happy to get home finally, to catch some peace and rest. But kids had fun though.

Below expectations

Best place for families with kids, fantastic beach, friendly staff, kids clubs and kids entertainment. Also great if you like hiking. Plenty of restaurants with good quality food. Cheap excursions, I recommend visiting Baska and Goli Otok

Beach is not to crowded in July. Send on a beach and in sea, great :)
Camping place is very good. Sanitary ware clean. On one shower place (number 3) hot watter was not adequate.
Shop, bakery... are very good.
Wi-Fi should be improved. Only near AP antennas internet was usefull.

Camping San Marino

Yoga with Miro is especially fantastic. The sandy beach is oriceless. Mobilhouse is comfortable and clean. Camping locarion is excellent. Programs for adults might be at wider scale. Staff are kind and helpful.
