On the way to Plitvice Lakes national park or to Croatian coast these is best posibble spot for coffee or lunch break. It is real local ambient with local cousine options. Pay special attention on domestic meat plate and with local prices. There is also apartmants options for anyone need to make break over the night. It is in perfect nature spot next to Korana river.

Best lunch break from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes

We didn't stay at the motel - we ate at the restaurant. We didn't even realize this was a motel until after we'd finished eating. We were driving from Zagreb to Plitvice and had been looking for a restaurant on Hwy 1 for probably 40 miles with no luck, when Restoran Grand appeared on the horizon. We decided to check it out and were delighted to find a quaint little Mom & Pop style restaurant with cute curtains and cozy decor.

The young man who seated us was the sole employee overseeing the restaurant - host, order taker, busser, server, cashier. Fortunately it wasn't busy, and he had a wonderful attitude. He spent time answering our questions.

They have English menus here, and the menu is several pages. They serve the full breakfast menu all day. Several soup choices are available, and you can order heavy food, like beef or venison stew, veal entrees, pork steak, meatballs, burgers, etc.

We saw steamed veggies on the menu as a side item, so ordered it along with omelets and fries. The plate of veggies was very large - a full size dinner plate of steaming hot broccoli, caulifower and carrots. It was delicious. Our omelets were just a touch crisp, which we really like. The fries were good.

A basket of complimentary bread and butter was brought to the table. Portions were huge, and I couldn't finish. Prices were unbelievable - under $4 USD for an omelet and under $3 for a plate of veggies. Coffees were only about $1.50 each.  I think we spent a total of about $15 USD on our meal.

Service was wonderful. We'd dine here regularly if we lived in the area.
