The staff at the hostel were lovely and very accommodating! The hostel is currently having some work done so there wasn't much of a kitchen however it isn't their fault as I see it as a good thing that they're doing the hostel up! I bet it will look lovely once the work is completed. On the day we were meant to check out we were unable to get the earlier train so our next one wasn't until 9pm. We didn't have much hope but asked the ladies if we could leave our bags with them a little longer. To our delight they said we could come and go for the day and use their balcony and facilities until we need to get our train. We really appreciated this and it made things a lot less stressful for us. It also gave us the chance to sit down and make some plans for the next few days of our travels which we haven't had much time to do. We also briefly met the manager I presume who seemed really friendly! Also to add, the hostel is in a really good location, you've got plenty of shops and places to grab food. Thanks again!

Lovely hostel

A truly wonderful place to stay. The location is fantastic, bang in the center, only minutes walk from the Palace, the market, the promenade and literally everything else. Even the beach is just 10 min. walk. The old building is magical as is the view from every window and especially the balcony over the old town streets and rooftops. The beds are super comfortable with clean, cotton sheets and towels in air-conditioned rooms. I never slept so well! The amenities are clean and in good order with a fully equipped kitchen and nice bathrooms with good showers. The host (Marco) is really helpful and friendly and sweet. His recommendations on where to eat or what to do are sound. I was not disappointed at all. Furthermore the atmosphere is great. It was a pleasure staying here for 5 nights. I felt so at home, I didn't want to leave anymore. 

Best place to stay in Split 

I had an excellent stay at this hostel.  I stayed for 2 nights, 1 in a dorm and 1 in their double-bed apartment with its own bathroom.

The dorm:  beds each had their own power outlet for charging things, and there was excellent WiFi.  The dorm bed mattresses were exceptionally comfortable.  There were also lockers for each person (you need to provide your own lock).  There was an air conditioner for the room.  The shared bathroom (1 for men, 1 for women) was clean.

The apartment: a truly exceptional value!  The double bed was very comfortable and the apartment came with its own bathroom, which I hadn’t expected it was a very nice treat!

While the location (in the historic palace of Diocletian area of Split) provides excellent access to tourist sights and activities, there is a lot of ambient noise from restaurants and bars in the area.  Closing the dorm windows and using the aircon cut down on this, but if you are a light sleeper you may want earplugs.

Such an awesome location right in the middle of old town, very friendly staff & good facilities. Thank you very much for making our stay in split so great :) 
We would definitely stay here again and recommend our friends to stay here on their travels! 

Great Stay! 

Right in the centre of old town - the location really couldn't be any better! Lovely staff who had brilliant recommendations for food, trips, transport, beaches.. anything you could want really! Rooms, bathrooms and social areas are clean. Large locker with lock included in the room and each bed was large for a hostel, with reading light and power socket. Linen and towels included. Also there was an individual cubicle shower with a lock... amazing! Location was the best benefit however.

Incredible Location!

Beautiful architecture on outside, modern inside. Rooms are spacious, comfortable beds. Each bed has a small shelf with power socket and small light. Bathrooms clean. Small, but cute kitchen with a lovely balcony. Central location. Will come back.

Top location

I stayed in Downtown Hostel for two nights in Split, and I don't think you can get a better location for a hostel in town. While it was a little difficult to find, one of the staff actually came and met me at the Promenade, which was incredibly helpful! Then all of the information provided about town, what to do, where to go for beaches etc, where to eat, plus the tours that are on offer- so handy! While I had a little issue with being overcharged, it was sorted out in a jiffy, with great customer service! 
The beds were comfortable, reading lights and power points by the beds, a locker for all of your things, and good facilities for bathrooms. The odd part was the two female showers being behind the same main curtain, so I don't quite understand how both showers would be used at the one time, but I never had any issues with having to wait!
Good air-conditioning in the room, just not much floor space for bags etc, but plenty of space in lockers!

Great location right in the heart of Old Town

Stayed in a mixed dorm, the room was spotless with lockers for each guest and plugs by the beds, the bathroom was also very clean. it's a very loud spot but you'd put up with that because it is such an amazing location! Quite tucked away in its own corner, but they helpfully send very good directions ahead of time so I found it without much bother. The receptionist was extremely friendly, and the general atmosphere was very welcoming- would definitely recommend to anyone hoping to do split on a budget!

Great location 

Despite herculean efforts to pinpoint the exact location of Downtown Hostel in the myriad of lanes of Old Town Split for a first time visitor , I would still rate the prime location of this hostel as the prominent factor in choosing it as my place of stay in comparison with the rest . The ladies at reception initially were a bit reluctant but gradually they warmed up really well to not only help me with certain day bookings but also to give me some important insights about Croatian life in general. However in terms of hospitality further improvement has a good scope .The beds were comfortable and bathrooms were fine . The common kitchen area was equipped with all the necessary essentials and the liveliness of the touristy area could whisper in your ears as the nights do get a bit chirpy when the moon is shining in the midnight sky . The discounts and convenience of day trip and adventure sport bookings at the reception area is a big advantage . However I believe some extracurricular activities to engage the hostel members could be one improvement which can enhance the socializing factor within this hostel. Overall it was a pleasant stay at Downtown Hostel in Split .
