I’ll say the positive things first, it’s in a good spot and the people were friendly enough. Marjan park is around the corner and is lovely. Other than that there is absolutely nothing good about this hostel. 

We stayed 2 nights and barely slept the entire time. It was hot enough to be a sauna and there are no fans or air conditioning, so we had the doors open for some fresh air. Which meant mosquitos all over, dogs barking all night and people talking loudly at all hours. Then there was mould on the curtain and along some skirting. And the shower head didn’t sit anywhere so had to hold it in one hand. 

So now I’ve left the place with rashes on me and some lumps under my eye that I’ll have to go to doctor to figure out what’s going on.

Not worth the health risk

Kind of worn out room without fridge, windows shutters ready to replace but price per night is cheap, its clean and is in walking distance to downtown, green zone Marjan is behind corner for walking, jogging or swimming.
Definitelly iam returning back.

Good value for money

Our room was visibly dirty (mouldy chewing gum on the wall next to the bed, hair and dust on the floor, plenty of mould on the shower head and the bathroom tiles, brown sprinkles on the wall next to the toilet). The beds were really bad and rickety. The staff wasn’t very helpful even though we complained about the shower, which was disgusting and not usable due to the amount of mould. First they promised us a refund for the night and at check-out they said that it’s not possible. Definitely not worth the money. Don’t go there!

Health risk which isn't worth the money

It's clean, it's nice. You have everything you need in your room, except the fridge. But the kitchen is quite awful. I'm giving a good review, mainly because of the good location. It's close to so many beaches, and the bus station is right in front of the hostel.

It's ok

(+) The room had everything we needed and was clean. 
The staff was nice and helpful. 
The location was good (although we had a car so did not have to take public transport).

(-) No access to a kitchen, which is bad considering the price we paid.
We were surprised to realize that it was a university residence, so not ideal for a romantic holiday. 
Expensive for what it is. 
No aircon - but you can ask for a fan.

Had what we needed but a bit expensive

I wrote to every accommodation recommended by the Split Tourist Office and this place offered me the most reasonable for the weekend of Ultra. The manager, Dennis, corresponded with me personally coming up to our stay. They also gave us the most fantastic air conditioned room on a days notice when I emailed to say my friend had been hospitalised for dehydration. Throughout our stay the staff were accommodating and attentive. It is very basic accommodation, it is student dorms ideal for short stays. We stayed for six nights, the kitchen was too basic to make any proper but there is a nearby pizzeria, lidl and the bus brings you to town in 10 minutes. I would like to make future customers aware to ask about the city tax also as that is not included in the price. Overall we had great stay at hostel Spinut, cheap cheerful and does the job!!

Basic but cheerful

I felt like at home in this dormitory!For students it's perfect:you have The bus stop in front of The hostel and it stops close to The faculties,you have beaches,you can go to The center walking 15 minutes,you have coffee and clubs really close,in The first floor there is The mensa where you can eat using The student card and paying cheap price!rooms are double,small but comfortable,with balconies and radiators,You live The experience of leaving with students from all over The world!and what more,The reciptionist Denis is always kind and nice,always ready to help you and to give you The Goodmorning!

My home during The Erasmus 

Booked 5 months ago.
It was absolutely disgusting. Walls fully marked with dirty messages and silly drawings. Floor very worn. Windows are so old they don't even close, so it's extremelly hot in the summer and may be very cold in winter. Toilets were a total shame... at least the water from the shower was cool and nice.
Reception girls were so hot and beautiful.
