This is a place (the terrace, that is) where you won't get anything fancy. The hotel behind it is old and decrepit, yet has some old-school European charm in its decrepitude. Great staff, very friendly, gin and tonic for under 4€, you get to people-watch like nowhere else. Fancy cocktail lovers, many places await you - not this one, though. If you hate taxi drivers who bad-mouth tourists, steer clear of the table nearest to their vehicles.

This is a simple place for simple people. Go. Have a gin and tonic. Enjoy the view.

So, you don't want to be trendy?

The hotel is as advertised: great location, and very quiet despite being right downtown (great windows!).  The rooms were clean, the breakfast service was very good - especially considering with covid since it had to be served instead of buffet.  Our only point of attention is the pool.  There is a small pool in the sauna area for guests to plunge into, but it cannot be considered a pool for children.  Actually, we were using the sauna area and two children came in, unsupervised, and started jumping and splashing in the pool - splashing water all over the small room and completely ruining our calm.  We went to the front desk and complained, but the kids were not evicted.    

Great location, quiet rooms

The Bellevue is a very nice hotel close to all the major sites.  Our room was very nice, the staff was very nice, and the breakfast was great.  We walked to so many wonderful sites, including Diocletian's Palace, and heard great free music concerts on the Promenade. The hotel was also close to many exciting restaurants.

The location of Hotel Bellevue is excellent for visiting old town Split. Otherwise experience was negative. Outdated hotel, small rooms, small uncomfortable bed. Noisy. Believe the previous negative comments.

I was worried when I was told I would be staying here on a work trip but the hotel was quite ok. Parking right in front, awesome location, friendly staff. 
The hotel is dated but not creepy. The AC is indoors and loud (likely bc it is a historical building and they cannot put anything on the facade) but works. The street is noisy so ask for a room on the side facing Prokurative. 
Breakfast was ok, nothing special but I have had worse. 
The location and parking and price make this a good choice. 

I was worried but...

As the owner of a tour company, I travel a great deal. This does not meet my standards of a 3 star hotel. 
The location is excellent in relation to reaching the sights. But be aware there is street noise, mostly hot motorbikes revving up and down all night long. There are double windows but ours could not be closed due to the funky set up of the portable A/C unit. That unit is loud but it is effective. 
The carpet in our room was not one I wanted to walk on in bare feet. It looked gross with spots. 
The breakfast was horrible with eggs that were overdone, the juice watered down and a charge for decaf coffee. I have never heard of that. 
There is no fridge or mini bar to use as a fridge in the room and no electric kettle or coffee maker. There is also no safe to store valuables in the room. 
Our room is a triple and there is adequate space for our bags. There is a hole in the bedsheet. The bedding may be typical to the area ( I do not know)  but it is unusual with just a folded sheet at the end of the bed and blankets in the closet. So you sort of make your own bed. This is not a hostel but seems like one. 
There are fake flowers in a vase and some interesting art in the public areas. 
The TV is very small and has no news channel in English. When I asked at reception regarding a news channel the response was that she does not know what channels they have and it may be different in each room. There is very little information in the hotel info folder - no restaurant recommendations, TV channel listings etc
The first night when there was a wet patch on the bed, the reception was very helpful and accommodating with a solution. 
The rooms overlooking the square have a different feel than our room, with beautiful views of the water and activity in the square. That does mean party noise until late but the light and view are worth it.

Location is a plus but not up to my 3 star standards

The location could not get any better unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The hotel is located on the harbour front with everything on your door step.

The man at reception upon check in wasn’t very friendly; just blunt with his directions. The man who checked us out; came out wiping the sleep out of his eyes and yawning, with his shirt half untucked. We’d obviously woken him up on his night shift!

There is NO air conditioning! There are electric fans in the hallways and they have portable AC units in your room; which they request you don’t turn below 22 degrees Celsius. We had ours on 15c! The room off the main room I slept in was so warm at night. If I wasn’t sleeping I couldn’t stay in my room; I had to sit in the main room on a chair. It was stifling in there.

The beds weren’t comfortable, they only have a sheet to cover you at night. But you wouldn’t need a blanket with how hot it is. 

Bathroom shower head is supposed to move up and down. But it slides back down and faces the tiles; we didn’t even attempt to wash our hair. The toilet has a pull chain to flush, it was so funny trying to work out how to flush the first time. 

Breakfast was included; basic continental breakfast. Which we ate outside on the patio.

They are sitting on a million dollar property here. Renovate it and make a killing! The location is superb!

Location is the only positive 

It’s the worst I’ve ever been!
We’ve just spent there 3 terrible nights. The hotel is so old that it’s awfull.
But the worst thing was the heat. It was almost impossible to sleep because they don’t have air condition  just some portable machines that make quite a noise. 
We tried to cancel after the first night but they just said the manager wasn’t available. 
When our travel agency complained  about it they blamed the UNESCO for the lack of a proper air conditioning system. 
It has ruined our visit to Split.


Don’t you dare to stay at this hotel: disgusting!

For the first time, I trusted Booking directly by booking 1 night (and thank goodness!) At the Hotel Bellevue ... it was better if I didn't do it !! Since it was built to date it has never done a maintenance, and you can understand it from wherever you look at it, I honestly don't know where to start.

The courage to put a person concierge on the entrance of the structure, but sitting continuously to smoke without a uniform and perhaps put a stranger for what knowledge. The style would be beautiful Epoque, but in my opinion it never arrived here in Split. Dilapidated lifts without warranty certification, has 2 floors; all the rooms overlook the square in front of the hotel that slopes towards the sea and could be a pleasant view.

The small rooms, the pillows seem made of foam impossible to fall asleep. A self-respecting 3-star establishment should guarantee a breakfast that is at least rich, here I lost my patience, with bread, croissants (?) Sliced ​​bread was all old, not to mention jam packets that were sticky one on top of the other, luckily the cappuccino was good, but thanks to a new car it was possible.

Not least the lack of empathy typical of one-star retirement professionalism reflects the same structure; I receive an invoice for the payment of my double room without realizing that I had another one booked, and only at the end of my stay did they realize that I had to pay the night in the second triple. In short, I do not recommend it !!, preferable to find another one.

This hotel should be call : Hotel mauvaise vue

Just recently returned from the hotel Bellevue, which is situated at 2 Bana Jelachica, staying there from Feb 5-9, the hotel is the oldest anywhere in Split, being built in the early 1900’s, it’s a nice looking hotel, with its many arches along the full length of it, especially when it’s lit up at night, it is situated right on the riva (waterfront),and just yards from the pedestrianised harbour front and it’s countless bars and cafes stretched along the harbour, the Tourist Information Centre is just 250yds from the hotel also, the hotel itself has 50 rooms, and mine was of a good  size, fully carpeted, with writing desk, chairs, 2 bedside lamps, large mirror, and t.v. with plenty of English speaking channels, in fact I was very surprised to see most channels in English, with CROATIAN subtitles, no wonder so many locals speak English?, the bathroom was all tiled, with toilet, handbasin, mirror, good powerful shower, and free toiletries, the air on which I had read about in trip advisor reviews,was indeed a mobile contraption with a 5inch dia flexible hose going out through the window, but this posed no problem at all, I had a nice view from my bedroom (280), of the square outside, and the large fountain and harbour front, breakfasts were quite adequate, with the usual fruit juices, fresh bread, various jams,yogurts, tea, coffee etc, the main sights like Diacletions Palace are literally 200yds away, and the ferry terminal to reach the islands,( Vis, Hvar, Brac, etc) is just a 8-10 min walk around the harbour, you can also catch the local bus,( 37) for the 35min journey down the coast to the lovely town of TROGIR, it has 2or3 little bridges to cross before you reach the town centre, it has lots of cafes and bars, and a nice marina with a good few large yaughts when I was there,one final tip is to visit MARJAN HILL,the steps up here are approx 200yds to the right of the hotel, as you enter the park there are a number of viewpoints as you climb the hill,it’s a slight incline all the way up, make sure you take your camera as the sunsets are magnificent, most people’s favourite is the very first one, this one has a semi circular balcony which looks down on the harbour front of Split,there was a good few people there getting their photo’s taken with the marina and the riva in the background, there’s also a nice cafe (or res’) directly next to the balcony with people watching the sunsets, this was a very nice holiday in a good hotel, where the location is as good as it gets,? on the main drag, ferry terminal a 10min walk, sights within 200yds, guests could do a lot worse than pick the Hotel Bellevue. I always try to put a review on Trip Advisor after my holiday, and I do hope this particular review will help the lucky people who come to this lovely port city.
