Very comfortable hotel a block from Varazdin’s attractive, much restored centre. We had three rooms and chose the hotel because Europe was in a heat-wave and the rooms have air-conditioning. It worked well in all three (but you have to be a bit patient for it to kick in strongly in the two top-floor rooms). We were also put off by reviews of hotels right in the city centre reporting church bells throughout the night. We heard them but only faintly.  Breakfast was terrific with cooked options offered however you wanted them.  The English-speaking staff were very friendly and accommodating, including by offering us use of another bathroom when the cistern stopped operating in one.

There’s plenty of free parking and good wifi.

Comfortable, friendly hotel close to Varazdin’s attractive centre

This is my second visit to Varazdin and Pansion Maltar. Varazdin is beautiful as before, es well as the our experience staying at Maltar. Clean rooms, parking, good location close to downtown, good breakfast, friendly owner and staff. Highly recommended.

Nice pansion

It is very pleasant place where attention is payed to all details. Secure parking, nice cafe for morning coffee, walking distance to city centre, friendly staff.  I planned to stay just overnight, but extended my stay just because it was so pleasant place and Varazdin surprised me wit its baroque beauty. Highly recommended.

We booked a family room for us and a double for my parents. We were welcomed with a smile and assisted with our luggage. The room was comfortable and clean. We always had parking at the hotel, and it was easy and close to walk to the main square and explore beautiful Varazdin. The location was great. There is a big supermarket across the road if you need it. The breakfast was so lovely, just like home, fresh breads, yoghurts, fruit, spreads and a hot meal like sausages or bacon and eggs. Staff were so friendly here it was like staying with family. I would stay here again.

Lovely and great location

The pension has a good location. Nearby is the old city and pedestrian zone. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is ok. Like home. The staff is very kind and smiling. I would come back to Maltar again.

What a nice, unassuming, comfortable place.
The staff are considerate, friendly and helpful when we arrived on bikes.
They let us in to our rooms early, and gave us lots of helpful info.

Just right

We booked with Booking.com.  Maltar personally greeted us and assigned us a wonderful room even though it was very early around 7am.  The room is basic but comfortable.  Most of your time will be spend exploring this beautiful city.  The location is very close to the main square and it is easy to walk everywhere.  Parking is available if needed.  Hotel also has a great breakfast and caffe bar.  We would stay here again if we visit.

Excellent stay

We enjoyed our stay here. Staff was very helpful.  We requested a room on a lower floor and they gave us a first floor room and even helped to carry our luggage upstairs.  Breakfast was good and served with a smile.  There is a large grocery store across the street (very modern!) and plenty of parking behind the hotel.  The attached bar was quite reasonable and we enjoyed sitting on the back patio with a glass of wine.  The hotel is close to a beautiful park and we enjoyed walking through it on our way to dinner.  The old town and many restaurants are an easy walk.
