I recently stayed in one of the executive rooms at Santa Lucia apartments in Zadar. First impressions were good, it was well decorated in a ‘IKEA show room’ way and the key was picked up from a nearby bar. Things started to get confusing when it came to payment method discussions, the owner said “cash only” with no option of card payment but our confirmation on Booking.com said credit card payment was accepted. This meant we had to take out more cash at a poor rate so we ended up paying more than the quoted price. What struck me was the fact there was no compromise on the part of the owner, if we paid cash surely he could have made us a deal as I imagine he’s not declaring this for tax purposes. But no, the price was the price and we were charged more than what I had agreed with Booking.com. The owner also mentioned a fictitious email I supposedly received that spelled this out and sent screen shots that directly contradicted my Booking.com app.

Other issues included the fact we never got any fresh towels (we were there 4 nights so this would’ve been expected) and the walls were quite thin, as we found out when a neighbour with a baby moved in. The bed was also very uncomfortable, and its pillows were more like sofa ones rather than bed ones. The bed linen was also poor quality. We both woke up with bad necks and bad backs each day. 

This apartment as a whole lacked the attention to detail you’d usually expect from staying in an ‘executive’ serviced flat. Finally it was at the top of 4 flights of stairs, not ideal for my wife who’s pregnant which i mentioned beforehand - I wouldn’t use this company or their flats again and would be wary for other tourists who do so.
