I am a returning guest to the hotel. This time I was the first and only guest after the Covid lock down. As always, staff is very helpful and friendly, the hotel is clean and situated right in the centre of the city. I just love it.

Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff

This review concerns the restaurant, not the accommodations, at the Hotel Royalton. After a carriage ride through historic Bayamo and a brief tour of Plaza de la Revolución, our tour group enjoyed a very delicious lunch at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The hotel building is very beautiful and is well maintained. A side note: During our visit, the city was preparing for a visit by Cuba's president, Miguel Díaz-Canel. It was great fun to witness the preparations underway. The president was scheduled to address an audience from a platform a few yards removed from the Hotel Royalton.

Outstanding Cuisine in the Heart of Bayamo!

The Royalton is a very good accommodation option in Bayamo. Great location just off the central square. Close to the post office, cinema, coffee and ice cream sundae shop. You are also a few minutes walk from restaurants, travel help and local peso / cuc stores. We had a room facing the pedestrian square with little noise and a nice view. The room was comfortable, plumbing, fixtures and fittings all worked and it had a safe. Wi fi available for 1CUC (1USD) per 1/2 hour in the lobby. If you are in Cuba for a little while the local ETESCA card is worth buying and very cheap. The Royallton lobby bar was good for coffee /drinks, and breakfast was very good (you can ask for an expresso if you don't want drip/percolated coffee). Staff were friendly all up the Royalton was a very good Cuban hotel

One of the better hotels in Bayamo - central, comfortable & with friendly staff

This hotel has a lot of grandeur from long ago. The architecture is very beautiful. The room we had was not big but sufficient. The bathroom was nice.  The foyer was also beautiful, a wooden reception desk, a nice bar and some good chairs. The breakfast was a bit simple but ok. 

Nice hotel 

I have stayed at this hotel several times and it is the best one in Bayamo. Meals in the small hotels are just the right size. Paladars may have better quality but the portions are just too big. This hotel is always very accommodating and I would not hesitate to return.

Great hotel right on the public square

I had dinner, bed and breakfast here on a 1-night stop while touring the island.
The bedroom and bathroom were both very small -scarcely any space to move around or store luggage - and very basic, but was clean.
Dinner was OK, and unusually in Cuba offered wine as an inclusive drink.  Breakfast however was pretty grim - thin, diluted "juice", weak coffee, plain omelette and unappetising white bread.
I would not stay here again.

Nothing very special

I was there with a group for a lunch. 
Atlhough we had a appointment we had to wait for the lunch till the previous group leaves. 
The lunch was right, nothing special, international food. The air condition was very cold, we had to ask for the remote control. There was no caffee included into the menu, we had to buy it extra at the hotel bar.

Only for the restaurant!

This Royalton is part of the E (Encanto) Hoteles brand, which means it's to be expected that it's of a reasonably high standard, but it could take a few cues from the other hotels in the group. For one thing, there was a rooftop terrace which would have been an excellent spot to sip a drink and watch the action in the main square opposite, but this was "not open". Service was disinterested at best. Plaster chips on the main staircase that had fallen from the ceiling remained there for several hours. The room was okay - everything worked, but nothing special to recommend it. The view was of a rooftop water tank; I joked that we had a "water view". Wifi in the lobby was good. Best thing about the hotel was its location - right on the main square (Parque Cespedes) next to the Museo Provincial and the birthplace of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes. Externally it's quite a lovely building. Cars are not allowed in the square, but if you have a hotel reservation, the guard will let you in to unload then return to park beside the church where they watch your car for $2 CUC per night.

There are lots of shops and cafes on the pedestrian street leading off the square, but if you go on a Sunday, most of these will be closed. Also, the museums close early on Sunday. Bad luck for us. There are several restaurants in the vicinity, ranging from over-priced and snooty to cheap and cheerful. The square itself is a great place to people-watch and there are guys taking children on goat-cart rides. I kind of felt sorry for the goats. Being Sunday, there was very little going on in the square in the afternoon, but it came alive in the evening.

Okay hotel in Bayamo

As we come traveling from Santiago de Cuba, we stopped in Bayamo city. Looking for a place to lunch, we enter this hotel and request info at the reception. The girl assures us that the restaurant is opened. When I entered I was impressed with the setup. Very luxurious. I wait for a while, then started to call 'Hello' ....Hello ...Hello. Nobody shows up. I go back to the reception, the girl goes to the restaurant kitchen and returns explaining that the personnel was having lunch. We then go to the lobby bar to kill some time. We ask for beer. They don't have because they don't want people from the street to crowd the place (that is ok but wouldn't be nice to have them at a high price? I wonder). We then drink water, pop, etc. It amounts to about 4cuc (100cup) more or less. I try to pay with a 1000 CUP bill (about 20 cuc). The girl doesn't have change, she says. I had to look for every coin in our pockets to be able and pay. Then I mention I was going to give a bad review, the girl in the bar goes nuts. She starts explaining and explaining the UNEXPLAINABle... appalling experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. For management, this was on January 26, 2020
