I recently stayed at this  hotel and had an excellent experience. The customer service was top-notch, particularly thanks to Edel Morales from costumer service. He was extremely professional and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable.

Simple, Comfortable Stay with Courteous Service

This hotel is the best,beautiful beach, the food very good , the staff from buffet excellent, joel from reception very nice, thanks to yuleimi always with her beutiful smile , and her good service 😀, all staff are very gentil and nice, promise we will back 😍

I have one of the best experience in Cuba. Beautiful Yuleimi all ways at the right time at the right spot.   The excellent customer service.  Joel from reception always with the smile on his face. The Edel from customer service help ass during the 14 days with everything we need. Booking the restaurant, if a problem in the room.  Definitely I will be back soon.

Cuba is not for everybody, if you are capable to understand that is a country where is very hard to get basic things, you will have a wonderful stay at this hotel, the rooms are cozy and clean, beach is wonderful, food was good and enough for us and drinks never stop, we had so much fun, but I think the most important was that the staff was so warm and friendly that we really felt at home, wifi with no problems in social areas and A/C worked 24/7

Marvellous

Starfish is a 3.5 star hotel but with the most welcoming and warming staff, very outdated suites but clean and the beach was gorgeous and clean! The staff is what makes this hotel , especially the entertainment staff. I would like to say a special thanks to Yuri and Leo for making this stay at the hotel full of fun for my family and I. They went out of their ways to any accommodations possible in their hands. The food is limited but I love Cuba and I already more a less know what to expect. Unfortunately,  the mosquitoes at the time of travel were very bad but its the season as well. Thank you to bartender Hilow for making us our fabulous drinks and the manager Jordan for adding the little details along the stay. Big thank you to Leo,Joel, Yuri,Jennifer and to some of the kitchen staff for the wonderful experiences for my family and I. I do recommend this hotel however, not for 7 days stay but a mini get away is more than enough.

You get what you pay for.

What can I say I love this place! This is where I found my Cuba family! I'll keep coming back! The entertainment Nildrey and Joel and their team are amazing!  They arent just workers of the resort they are family! The bar aims to please and I love my front counter staff.  The chefs always smile and are incredible people and always try their best to make your dining expierence a good one.  Special thank you to Chef Yosbel. My stir fry was the best.

Cuba means family

Beach - absolutely beautiful, and perfect for a sunrise. It is quite shallow so you need to walk quite far out in order to be under the water. There was a staff who took us out for a Catamaran tour for $25 cash! We were able to see lots of local fish and swim deeper in the ocean. This was an amazing experience and much cheaper than the Sunwing catamaran that was $110.

Staff were very friendly, the entertainment staff were very pushy and often wouldn’t take no for an answer to participate in events. There was times I would have to leave the pool area because they would not accept that I did not wish to participate in their game. A few of the bartenders at the pool bar were very flirty with female travellers, numerous times they would try and cat call me if I was by myself, asking my room number, if I am alone etc. thankful I was travelling with a partner. I wouldn’t feel comfortable visiting here solo as a woman. 

Please bring bills for tipping either American or Canadian was accepted, avoid coins as they can’t use them. The staff were very happy to receive gifts as well, hygiene items, kids toys/books, medicines etc. we brought lots of these, and don’t forget about the gardeners, cooks etc. as they are often forgotten! 

The resort itself was okay, pool cleaned almost daily by staff. Lots of cups and straws throughout the resort in bushes and along path ways. 

Rooms were very run down on the right side of the hotel. We were in room in 130’s it was very dated, smelled of mould. Half way through our stay the room flooded from the toilet seal breaking and leaking, within an hour we were moved to the other side of the resort in the 80’s to a much nicer room, where it was not as mouldy or musty, cleaned much better, and overall much better. The photos for online booking do NOT accurately represent how the rooms currently look. Sheets and towels were never changed during our stay, were stained and dirty when we arrived at our room. I do not believe they are washed between guests, as i watched the maids clean a room of people leaving and they aired out the towels and sheets outside the room then remade the room and had someone new in there next day. 

Bugs - there is cockroaches at this hotel. We saw them on the pathways walking around, found one dead between plates at the buffet one day, saw live ones walking around the pasta dish at dinner one night, another guest found one in her room. 
Mosquitoes are VERY bad right now. Myself and a few other guests were eaten alive. We packed heavy duty bug spray, after bite etc. and nothing would work. Numerous guests had to see the doctor during our stay for antibiotic cream because the bites were unbearable. The hotel sprays 2x a day once in the morning and once at night but it does not do much to address the severity of mosquitoes. 

Food was okay - no shortages of any basics that I could see, options of chicken, beef, pork or fish at lunch and dinners. Not a large variety of dishes but we never went hungry. Al a carte was very understaffed so we waiting 2+ hours for a pizza that was just baked dough with Parmesan cheese. Ice cream was available at lunch and dinner, this was delicious. Fries available daily at the snack bar as well. 

Only shortages that were noticeable were mix for drinks. By day 3 of the trip there was no pop for mixed drinks only lemonade, most days was told they were short on ice and wouldn’t give more than 2 ice cubes a drink. 

You can take the local bus to your other hotels, the market or go to Playa Pilar. The bus is $5 for the whole day cash or credit card. 

Overall, in my experience this resort is a very typical 3 star Cuban resort, I likely will not return unless there is more upgrades done to the rooms and the bugs are better dealt with. 

Very typical 3 star resort 

The staff first of all were just awesome, from check in to checkout 2 weeks later. My wife and I  found the food great, always found something that we enjoyed. The room was very nice(room 335). Everything worked well. The TV acted up the 1st night and was corrected the next day. We are booked in January 2024 for another 2 weeks. Overall great resort. Ty to all the Staff who made our holiday so enjoyable. Adios Amigas/ Amigos.

Great Holiday 

Clean, comfortable room, friendly lobby bar staff, daily and nightly entertainment. Nildrey and Joel went above and beyond to make my husband’s first trip to Cuba a fun and memorable one! New GM, Khalifa greeted us daily. And of course there’s kind Julio!

Retirement holiday

At first glance the resort is dated but it is kept well. We originally upgraded to the wooden villas but quickly learned that this was a mistake.  They look nice from the outside but are small, out dated with lots of open gaps to the outside.  No safe in the room or any of the comforts you expect when walking into a resort room

The front desk was more than happy to accommodate us and move us to a cement style room that actually had a view of the ocean and a great location.  It was what we were expecting in a room.  Definitely dated but a good size and had everything we needed

The kids club girl and the animation team did a fabulous job.  They tried to keep everyone engaged and always greeted me by name.

The snack bar employees were excellent as well. Especially Erik, he was always happy and shared lots of stories.  It definitely stood out

I also have to mention the young guy that always lead the shows, Cuban day, the disco and he even filled in for the kids show one night.  He was great

I would definitely return.  The staff makes this place great
