I was in the hotel for quarantine for five days and it felt like a prison.

I do not understand english. As called and asking for english, the angry woman from the reception cried only "what?". Horrible unfriendly and ine should expect, the receptionist can speak at least basic english.

You also cannot go down and explain, when in quarantine.

Not even beer was available!!!

I wad called by different people, you never know, when. I hate that load ring tine. yiu cannot even unplug the annoying telephone.

tv set was switched on several times automatically!!!

I hate hat hotel, never want to go back again, not once for free.

Bed sheeds not changed. Last day i was called by receptionist, if i was satisfied??! I said bed sheets were never changed. Ah sorry!

WLAN not working. Great, when you have five days no internet. This is impudence, you not even can buy a sim card.

The breakfast was ugly, a kind of sausage. Every day the some fruit drink.

For this bad joke, they charge you 50$ a day.

Seems like a prison, the rooms are dirty and the staff is very unfriendly.. the food is terrible... we’ve been there because the government of Cuba forced us to move from a casa particular because of the famous virus, but this was a very awful experience... DO NOT GO THERE!!

A very terrible hotel

I booked via booking.com and so far unable to leave a review on their site. I want to warn people to avoid this hotel. My boyfriend and I spent 8 days in Cuba staying in Airbnb’s and the final night before leaving Havana for Varadero we booked this hotel because the reviews and pictures didn’t seem too bad. We are not picky people and require just a clean room, clean towels, clean bedding and an overall safe place to stay and while we didn’t feel unsafe the hotel room was beyond disgusting. 

We were first given a room which was filthy. Hair all over the floor, no toilet paper, garbage not changed and questionable bedding cleanliness so we went down and requested a new room. The second had toilet paper and the garbage had been changed but that was the only difference. We debated leaving but at 8pm at night and leaving early in the am we put a towel on the floor to walk on, covered the pillow with another towel which smelled slightly cleaner and just slept, got up and left, it was even too gross to take a shower. 

Spend more money and stay elsewhere!!

Avoid this hotel!

As you all know the system to able to use Internet at the hotel is sooooooo complicated!!!! I went in the front lobby and they told me i had to go to the backward canteen to buy 2 hours of some “cuenta”, but it was close by 10:00pm so i bought it and i had to return to the main lobby to enter. And then what is really ridiculous things happened its that the doorman didn’t lets us go in cause we had ours “chancletas” on!!!! What the heck dude??? I dont even wear short o anything inappropriated!!!!. I could see tons of people w the same “look”, and they sat inside???!
I meant if you guys stay and said the service here is good, you are wrong!!!!
So if you ever come to Havana, Cuba; dont stay at Tulipan Hotel!!!!

My experience here in Tulipan

The Tulipan is not a top class Hotel but it suited my wife and I since we had wanted an affordable place outside of the noise and confusion in the city. We found it very relaxing and an advantage is that I could have my breakfast, lunch and dinner right there without having to bother to venture outside.
The staff at the front desk were very helpful especially since we speak no Spanish. Food was acceptable and in abundance. Rooms were cool and comfortable

Very hospitable stay

1) Room was not very clean a very much overused.
2) Air conditioner was very noisy and old. 
3) In a room were little cockroaches.
4) Elevator was not working and we were walking with all our luggage by stairs. Nobody offered us help and they did not care about it.
5) Staff was very strange: in the evening we asked to call taxi for morning, in the morning taxi did not come.
6) Good location. Close to Mirador and Place of revolution.
7) In the same hotel was restaurant with good food for good price.

Bad experience

I liked this hotel. The staff was amazing.3 bars, cafe and dining room. The food was buffet and just so so to my liking. Rooms were with a balcony and basic. Yes, I would stay here again. I liked the garden setting and the Ambience.

Wonderful

We stayed here only one night because apparently the hotel we booked was overbooked and they relocated us here. 
The receptionist was very nice. 
The room was quite crappy but biggish. We decided not to shower....even after 13 hours flight. 
The towels we got were with holes and dirty (yellow and dark spots everywhere). 
The beds were okeish. 
If I had to stay several days I would have changed hotel. 
Breakfast I don't know. We did not try it. 
I suggest not to book this hotel. 


Dont go here 

I went here as a solo Canadian female traveler and loved it.  ALL of the staff was amazing.  This is a hotel which had many Cuban educational groups, Cuban music groups etc staying there, so I was able to meet many interesting people ~ even a Grammy winner.  
When I arrived a staff member (Leesandra) took me to the hospital because I had some kind of allergy before I arrived there, and she couldn't have been more helpful.  
I was really happy with my room - the photos don't show how nice many of the rooms are.  Actually many of the areas in this hotel are much nicer than the pics - and I peeked into some of the other rooms and saw that they were also really nice.
My bed was HUGE, with lots of pillows and linens, I had a fridge, great clean shower with loads of hot water, clear TV with many great english channels, and lots of dressers etc.  The air conditioning was perfect too.
This hotel is a a 10 cuc cab ride into Old Havana ~ and you can always get a cab right out front.  What I did most of the time was just walk to the main busy road (5 min walk) and flag down a multi person old cab for 1 cuc into Havana.  
There is a patio bar and also a small air conditioned fun lobby bar ~ Juicee is a really nice bartender.  
The restaurant gets very busy and has a line up.
Across the street from this hotel is a big outdoor market ~ with a few good restaurants.
It was really cool staying in and around a place for Cubans - as opposed to tourists.
One downside is that there isn't a pool.
I really enjoyed this extra special experience because although I have been to Cuba about 18 times I feel that I really learned way more about Cuba this time because of my stay at Tulipan.  I will for sure stay here again sometime ~ even though it's out of the way from things.  A great authentic experience !!! Incredible Staff !!!

Amazing Staff made for an Excellent Stay

Only issue I had here was there was no water in room half the time and the shower head wouldn't stay up otherwise it was still better than two of the others we stayed at in Cuba. One of the biggest problems for us was there was no public transport close by otherwise it was ok
