We have been there for the retreat of our company. Total 27 people. All the stay in the hotel was perfect. The staff was always willing to help and meet our requirements. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The meal was delicious including the deserts. The place itself is wonderful and we had few very nice trips to the surroundings. It’s good to know that due to the National Park area, there is a forbiddance to drive the motor vehicles there (valid from Kvilda) and for the arrival and departure day you will get from the hotel official permission.

Company retreat

First time visiting this nice hotel located just on the border with Germany 🇩🇪. Much history went through here ! The 10 km hike from Borová Lada was worth as the dividends were fantastic! 
On nice clear day , as ours you could see the alps from comfortable terrace enjoying great selection of well prepared meals! 
Slow cooked “ Bucek “ was our favourite, but trout was delicious as well! Worth detour!

Amazing view and gastronomy

This hotel is in a lovely location deep into Sumava National Park and everything about it was really nice and pleasant.   After visiting family in the western part of the country and seeing some of the more touristy sights we wanted to take the kids (8 and 4) to see some nature.   To really experience it, I wanted to stay in a remote place rather than in one of the small villages and this place was perfect.  I'm not sure you can get more remote than this, while still having luxury.  We had a beautiful view from our balcony and we could walk out the door and go for walks in nature.  

And how cool is it to walk past a former Iron Curtain watchtower and fortifications and teach your 8 year old daughter a history lesson?  She has no interest in history but was fascinated in hearing about the Cold War.   We walked into Germany and back.     

We stayed only one night, wish we stayed longer and had bikes to go on the trails.  I think they rent some equipment at the hotel, but not sure about bikes.  I wish we were in Sumava more in general, the drive in and out was lovely.   

I'm surprised at the people who posted negative reviews about this place, they sound hard to please.   Ok maybe the staff didn't stand out but they were certainly not rude and I suppose a small shed would have a smaller carbon footprint.   I would come here again either with any size group.

Great Mountain Retreat

I have been there 2 times and for sure, this place is not for "rich bored couples"... we have done really nice hiking. This hotel has a really nice design and if the sky is clear you can see the Alps. Rooms are nice...I would recommend this hotel!

On German / Czech boarder, in the heart of Sumava national park is nice hotel built in Alpine style. To come in you have to get the permission and once there you can not go out by your car unless you check out. Wonderful nature, walking routes nearby. Nice and friendly staff, food is not excelent, i would rate as average, however the location makes this hotel as a unique amongs all in Šumava if not amongst all in Czech republic. Worth to visit 

Gorgeous place in the heart of Sumava national park

Nice hotel next to the German border in the Sumava National Park.   Nice grounds.   We stopped for beer and they had Budvar.   Not too bad but not really good beer by Czech standards.    Clean batrooms.   Easy bike parking.    Old border controls to see (cold war).  300 meters from Germany entry.   Friendly staff.  Recommend.

Good stop while biking

The location of Alpska Vyhlidka is very secluded and beautiful. The views of Sumava landscape from the hotel, balconies and terrace are memorable. The Iron curtain history exhibit educates and reminds not to forget the years under dictatorship . The room was simple and comfortable. Noise level was less than acceptable as the neighbors above and besides our room could be heard. The restaurant menu and food were average. Unfortunately, the service was poor. There was a lack of effort to greet guests with a smile and attention. The breakfast buffet got emptied 15 minutes after breakfast started and my party had to ask for coffee and other food choices to be replenished.

Průměrná restaurace s nadprůměrnými cenami. Jídlo je OK a personál je trochu líný.
Místo je moc hezké. Nachází se přímo u česko-německý hranici a je tam mnoho turistických a cyklistických tras. Replica železné opony je velmi zajímavá.

An average restaurant with above average prices. Food is OK and the staff is a little bit lazy. 
The location is spectacular. Located right by the Czech German border and there many hiking and cycling routes to choose from. The copy of the so called Iron Curtain is very interesting.

This hotel has the best location just in the middle od Sumava's forest and is pretty cosy and the facilities meet your expectations, I guess. However, the stuff was so unfriendly, I couldn't believe it. We arrived on foot with backpacks so they probably thought we are not worth the effort.
The soup and apetizers were excellent but then were served an defrosted stinky trout so we returned it and didn't received neither an apology nor an offer to order something else.
Excellent facility with terrible staff.
