The room is principially ok. Nice bed, etc. BUT the room windows could not be opened. Therefore the only way to get fresh air was to leave the entrance door open! Which meant everybody could walk in from outside...!!!

I CAN therefore not recommened the hotel.

Breakfast buffet is very good, with the exception of the coffee, which was completly weak/ watery...



Room without openable window 

It is possibly the worst hotel experience we have ever had. 

First, we had to find the concierge in the other end of the hotel, inside the kitchen, to be able to check-in after we had been standing at the desk for 10 minutes patiently waiting.

We had ordered a child bed, and it was in the room - the issue was that the mattress was an adult top-mattress that you had to fold to make it fit the child bed. We were travelling with a baby, so there was room enough, but no origami skills would have been able to fold it to cover the whole bed, meaning your 3-4 year old kid would have either head or feet sticking out of the bed.

The radiators in the room did not work - it was chilly when we came and wanted to warm up the room a bit, but to no avail. 

Sound travels in these rooms - you can hear everything that's going on in the hall way. We were just next to the outer door, and it required immense force to close this shut properly. This meant that the drunk wedding guests that were swarming the hotel left it slamming merciless in the wind and I had to get up 4 times one night to be able to make us able to sleep.

If that wasn't enough, the bed was squeaking like nothing I've ever heard before. My wife couldn't get out of bed without waking our baby - it was really that bad. It was elevation beds, which was nice, but mine couldn't lay down flat, so you had to sleep in some awkward positions.

The last straw was the cleaning of the hotel room. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but there was dust everywhere, mold in the grouts, water damage in the ceiling, disgusting soap rack. 

Breakfast was decent, if you still had appetite after dodging pools of vomit from the wedding the night before on your way there to the buffet...

Don't expect this place to make your trip a better experience

I booked this hotel for 2 nights and paid for 2 nights when we arrived. On the second day, here is what I told the person at the front desk: 
"We are going to drive to Aarhus (150km away), but we are planning to come back and we want to keep the room for tonight (since we had paid for it). Because we travel so far and so much, in case anything happens and we decide to stay there, I want to leave the key at the front desk. I will call if we can't come back."
We came back to the hotel at 8:30pm, here is what the girls that were working at the hotel told us: 
"The lady that was working at the front desk had to go home and didn't want to hold on to the key so she called you and you didn't answer (my roaming was off since it's very expensive) so she sold the room to someone."
!?!?!?!?!?!?
They didn't even give me the refund for the night until I asked for it! I and my 14 years old daughter drove another 40km stopping and looking for a room with no luck. We ended up sitting at Aalborg Airport for 15 hours. 
If you know anything about rural areas in Denmark, you would know how alone and hopeless and insecure it feels to drive around towards midnight. 
How dare she sell our room!

The dinner is supreme indeed, very good. Staff are very friendly. Professionalism of staff (speed of service, dress code etc.) is lacking a bit but is ok. The room on the other hand was old and worn. It was spacious but we could easy hear the next door neighbor talking. The hotel was clean”ish” but again the room was not quite up to scratch. Why do many cleaners forget to close the door to the bathroom and clean behind it? All in all a good stay, though we have had better rooms.

Mixed feelings

We stayed two nights in the hotel. Nice size room and comfortable beds. Conveniently located near the beach and across from the nature reserve. The reserve has lots of animals including otters. The breakfast was very nice and the staff were very helpful. A great place to see the Denmark countryside and relax.
