We arrived here by touring bike off the ferry. The first thing you notice is that it is rural and quiet in lovely countryside, the second is the charm and warmth with which you are met by the owners. The word Kro means Inn so it is a private enterprise not a massive impersonal business.
The rooms are small and comfortable but you can spill outside into the sitting room area which goes with each room. The bathroom is large and well provided and you just have to get over the fact that it is shared.
Now to the bar and restaurant. 
Firstly the selection of beers is excellent. The selection of wines is off the scale but the food is worth coming all the way to Denmark for (actually we’ve come to see Bruce Springsteen but I’ll come back for more of this). We really did have the best ever 3 courses, each course was a completely new experience, the giant (whopping great Viking) of a chef is a genius!

Countryside hospitality and charm.

I rated this 5 star because I want the hotel to listen to what I have to say

The food was terrible, the co workers are, and the hotel itself is quite disgusting

Absolutly terrible

Where do I begin? This place is the epitome of a s***hole. When we arrived a little after nine in the evening, the local bums had turned the ‘bierstube’ into a seventies road house blue with cigarette smoke. With the hotel rooms on the first floor immediately above and with no one bothering to shut the doors, everything in the ‘non-smoking’ rooms, including the pillow, smelled of stale smoke. The house rules in the room ironically stipulated a 1,500 DKK fine for smoking in the room - what a joke. 
Notwithstanding that the receptionist couldn’t find our room (there are an overwhelming 10 rooms) and the door couldn’t lock from the outside, there was also a communal shower and bathroom serving all ten rooms...and I mean one toilet and one shower behind the same door. Of course the shower had no shampoo as an extra little surprise. Breakfast next morning in the smoky bierstube? Go figure. If there were laws against bad hotel management, the owners here would be facing thirty to life.

Cigarette smoke everywhere

It is very basic but everything you need is available in good quality 
The rooms are simple and you have to share a bathroom with several rooms 
If you travel with family it's okay... Otherwise .... 
The restaurant is with limited offer, but what they offer is great 
Had a perfect shrimp salat and a perfect steak with nice sides 
The owner family is very nice and in the evening we had a beer and an Aquavit at the bar.  Prices are very fair deal 


One night stay

This is a small Inn/Restaurant in the the village of Vindeballe on the island of Aero.  It is the cutest yellow building in the middle of nowhere, but it offers wonderful food, wonderful service and a very clean and up-to-date bathroom.
Ordered an appetizer of smoked salmon and an interesting horseradish sauce that was out of this world good.
Shared an entree which was a great idea, since they are huge.  we ordered the Marinated veal with vegetable garnish and roasted potatoes.  It came with a chunk of bread that was so fresh and flavorful.
The cup of coffee came cold...had to order another one, but no problem.  Would definately eat here again.
And we are finding that everyone speaks English.
