Bad service, bad cleaning, hospital soap in the multipurpose soap dispenser, no functioning iron on premises, no main lights in the room, no staff (reception is on another hotel), location central but very noisy.
This is priced like a hotel, but values like a cheap love motel. 

Just don’t 

I spent several days there. The room was okay, standard room with a nice bed and a shower.

One annoying thing was the cleaning staff, knocking on the door at 07:30, waking me up, asking when i was leaving. She also managed to lock herself into the room at 08:00, without permission, i had to kick her out.

The hotel is managed by Hotel Svendborg, in the city centre. Acces is controlled remote from there.

Exept from the annoying cleaning staff, i would surely reccomend this fairly inexpensive hotel.

Standard hotel room

If you want to stay anywhere in Denmark, you have to have money. A cheap alternative are campsites or the Hotel Garni. Here in Svendborg you save about 600 crowns. You have to sign up for the Hotel Garni at the Best Westen.

Price

We stayed in June in Room #15, on the 2nd floor above ground for 2 nights.  The room was moderately sized with room on both sides of the twin beds (pushed together).  It had a desk and plenty of outlets.  It also had a refrigerator and a rack above that for one’s suitcases or other things.  The bathroom was small, but reasonably sized with a shower stall and wonderful, consistent hot water.  Though we were across from the train station and on a major road (for Svendborg), the train and road did not bother us.  The second morning we were awakened early by construction noises.  There were no blackout curtains or drapes, so night shades for our eyes were welcome.  Though there is no breakfast included, they do provide a lounge with an electric kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, and sugar and milk.  For us, being near the train station was very convenient.  It is also near the ferry dock.  The only inconvenience was having to drag our suitcases about 6 blocks to the Best Western where we checked in and then drag the suitcases back.  The BW staff was friendly and informative.  We would probably stay here again.

Surprisingly good room

This hotel is linked to the Best Western in the town, which is about half a mile away.  Unless you have paid in advance you have to check in at the BW, but if you gave a credit card number when you booked then you press the intercom at the door of the Garni and you will be let in remotely and given a code to a keybox inside.  It's not necessary to go to the BW to check out though, you just leave the key in a box and go.  Our upper floor room was fine, accessed from a corridor that was open to the outside, so nice and airy and with a good view of the waterfront across the road.  It's just a few minutes' walk from the town centre shops.  The wifi worked well and was free.  Downstairs is a kitchen with free coffee and tea making facilities, as well as a sitting room, but otherwise there are no facilities for guests and no staff on site.  Don't bother buying the expensive breakfast available from the BW, you might as well pick up pastries and juice from the 7-11 at the nearby railway station and have them back at the Garni with a coffee from the kitchen.  For a no frills, budget hotel which is clean and conveniently located, this fits the bill perfectly.

No frills, no staff, but otherwise fine

When I arrived, had to check in at another hotel which is not so easy to find!(btw it's the best westerns) They charged me on the credit card for everything even though I said I had to leave one day earlier before they process the payment - terrible service! When I arrived at hotel garni, internet wasn't working and the staff keep saying is a problem of my device. After one hour of trying, they offered me to switch to the best westerns BUT last minute changed their mind and sent a technician to fix the internet (apparently wasn't the problem of my device!). The double bed is two single bed put together and it is so uncomfortable(it moves btw!). It's a hotel with no room service or daily housekeeping. Ugh!! What a nightmare!!

It may not be pleasant. Starting from the atypical - and I must say, shocking - check-in procedure at the mother hotel. We were on the top floor with the rooms entrance on the balcony. And we liked it. The room itself was nice, spacious, with all the amenities including the fridge. A little noisy of course: we are in front of the harbour. But we would definitely return. And then the lady at reception advised us to go to the harbour and not to the centre. Excellent advice. Ah: 84 euros without breakfast. But we are in Denmark.

To Love or Hate

Nice little hotel, quiet, very well located in the city centre, opposite the bus station, train station and boats. Large very clean room, very copious breakfast (salted and sweet + fruits and dried fruits).
