When we rented the holiday home number 12 at Tversted Strandpark, we expected to get a quiet and easy Christmas holiday.
It turned out, that the house is located and connected to the local pub, a restaurant kitchen, parking lots and a building with extra toilets for the visitors of the pub.
The building with the toilets is directly attached to the holiday home. But funny enough, this detail is cropped away from their official photos of the house. The owners inform in their general description, that it's a "semi-detached" house, but all of their photos are taken from the "right" angles, and therefore they don't show the reality like the pub, cars, toilets or the view from the kitchen.
On top of that - because it was Christmas - a theme party had been planned at the pub. It came as a surprise to us and we discovered it because of an increasing amount of activities right in front of the holiday home. Stuff like smoking, drinking and loud debates took place. There were constantly slamming doors to the toilet building, whose facilities also were used for hanging out and singing loudly. This took place until +2am.
We were irritated and upset, but when we confronted the owners of the holiday home, they didn't want to take any responsibility and texted us that they've never had any complaints about the pub, parties or disturbance from the toilet building.
We tried to explain, that we felt cheated, since their photos and description doesn't show at all, that the holiday house is part of the environment of a pub. The pub entrance is only 10-15 meters away from the front door and kitchen window of the house.
If we had known the truth about the location, we would not even have considered renting this holiday home. It was the total opposite of, what we needed and expected.
But from the owners, there was absolutely no attempt of trying to solve the situation.
We also talked to the manager of the pub, and fair enough she told, that she could't understand, why the owners didn't inform in advance about the environment in a realistic way in photos and text. And in fact she also knew, that the holiday house is easily exposed to noise.
