The vegetable meal option was just sautéed Vegetables. No rice, Potatoes,  or beans, only a side of sautéed.   The meal was expensive and extremely disappointing at a cost of 45.  Worst meal on our 2 week Dominica vacation.

Perfect place for a delicious local lunch, very nice atmosphere, we loved it, we'll come back, not to be missed when you're in Dominica! Right next to the bus parking lot.

Sagittarius Restaurant and Bar

The ourangan Maria destroyed several walls towards the beach and towards the pool (out of service at the time). We were staying in the suite: short room with no wifi in the room. They removed the TV because the net was insufficient (but they are not doing much to fix this fact). The beach is not beautiful or pleasant (no layout to spend a while there). The restaurant is mainly specialized in the langost (restaurant no doubt good every weekend), the dishes are very crowded. The staff is nice but the service is very slow We had chosen to do the zero excursions around when we moved to the north tres so there is also very little to do on the dive club is the boat. The gray ones are not present without any interest in the hotel, and the stairs are very small.

The hotel needs to be restored.

The storm is probably responsible for the collapse of part of the parking lot, and part of the back of the restaurant. The swirling on the beach makes the landscape sad. The beach trays are crispy (correctly), but it smells like the end of the reign. The rooms are clean, minimalist. A table/office and 2 indoor chairs would have been welcome. The meal is fine.

Hotel in disrepair

Stopped off for a quiet beer, hard to find, but great relaxing setting.  Returned later that day for supper and had a great meal.

Fabulous location - a bit of an oasis

Our family stayed at Sunset Bay in December, 2019.  Setting was very peaceful, as the hotel is small (just 12 rooms) and located outside the busy towns.  Landscaping was beautiful.  Rooms were simple (no TV, no AC), clean, and comfortable.  The ceiling fans provided adequate cooling for us.    

Best feature of Sunset Bay is the small beach, just a few steps away from the rooms.  (Most Dominica hotels are at or above the coastal highway's level, so you have a steep climb down to the beach.)  We enjoyed sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. We saw more colorful fish while snorkeling than at Champagne Reef, as the water was clearer at Sunset Bay.  

There is a first-class restaurant open for all meals.  Dinner choices are mostly seafood, but with a little advance notice the chef was able to provide menu 
 options for our vegetarian daughter. 

The receptionist helped us arrange excursions and airport pickup.  The restaurant provided picnic lunches for us when we were on full day excursions.  Overall, a great experience.

Comfortable, Peaceful Hotel with beach just a few steps from our room

Not a fan.  The service was really terrible.  I arrived at 2 pm, there was no one in the reception, and when I asked to check in, I was told “someone would be with me.”  I waited around 10 minutes, which was fine, but it was very awkward as no one told me where to wait or what to do in the meantime (for example, “sit here, would you like anything?  We will be with you shortly” would have been nice.  The rest of the check in actually went okay, but I was not given essential information like when breakfast is or the wifi password.  The restaurant service was really bad.  One night I waited 45 minutes for my check after asking 3 people for it.  The room was fine, they did give me ice every day which was nice.  The water was also fine to drink because my understanding is that they use a separate system from the rest of the island.  I did not get sick. They were nice enough to prepare early breakfast for me because I went diving early, but one day they did forget and that made me late.  It was fine because I wanted the breakfast, but it seemed like it might be because the staff was sort of partying the night before.  I also got the impression that there were very few guests actually staying there, so I would have actually expected better service.  One redeeming quality was the owners.  They were very nice, especially Marsella (sp?), but I also liked Roger.  They would check on me each evening and ask how my day was.  One night Roger even gave me a bicardi shot!  I think it was probably not straight (maybe some added sugar) but it was a nice gesture all the same!  The staff were also just in general not very friendly. Overall, I probably would not stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either.  The food was pretty good, but VERY expensive.  The lobsters they over-advertise are very small and need to be left to make more baby lobsters.  The drinks are also not very good.  The rum punch, T-punch, white wine, and rose were all not great.  I ended up just getting a passion-fruit juice and rum which was good but quite basic.

Not a fan... would recommend an eco lodge

The weather stops on a weekend and you enjoy the beach and the sunset, the rooms are impeccably clean and the restaurant is on top, and you feel like family with the kindness of Marcella and Roger and their team.

Excellent hotel and super cuisine with fresh produce.

From the capital, this small hotel is within easy reach of a secluded bay. A small sandy beach in front of the house, which is rare in Dominica. The property belongs to an elderly Belgian couple who care for their guests very personally and professionally. They devote all their energies to this property, one of the places where you can book without hesitation even after the devastating hurricane. Before you compare it to other Caribbean islands, please consider where you are and what has happened in recent years. Then a staff member touches the wishes of the people of Dominica. The rooms are simple but purposefully furnished and very fit the island, no chichi, just what is needed to go on a big day of hiking. The legend is that we have been working in a nice place in a nice evening, and the people of the Dominica have not been treated well here. We have been here for a long time, so we have not been able to get the best of our time.

Small, personal bungalow complex with good restaurant

Treated like a queen by Marcella, Roger and their team, this simple and very pleasant hotel is a small paradise of tranquility and friendliness. The dives are nice, the snorkeling is easy and the sunsets are amazing, in short, everything is packed together for a breathtaking vacation. If you add great human and aquatic encounters (the whales!!) and excellent meals, you can hardly ask for better. Thank you for this beautiful stay!
