There is a huge hole in the courtyard where there is no fence for the safety of the guest. I will say that it's the same sizes of a small swimming pool. Like 17 feet tall. I fell the first night and broke my knee. The next day the owner told me that it was all my fault for not paying attention.

A delicious guesthouse, coem should have more or, better, should be more frequented. Unfortunately, in the Dominican Republic many rely on hotel and resort chains, much more impersonal. The guesthouse is very nice as a structure and really quiet, despite being relatively close to the streets. The family that runs it is very welcoming and makes you feel immediately one of them. I only stayed one night to be able to easily go to the airport the next morning but my stay was really pleasant and if I go back to the area, I will definitely stay very happy again.

The places I like

I spent 2 nights here (1 on arrival and 1 before departure) and I loved it. Lila is so friendly and makes you feel part of the family. They even invited me to spend the afternoon at the beach with them. She is a great cook and the breakfast and evening meal (on request ) are delicious. The rooms are unique and I especially liked the one upstairs with a balcony . 
If you are making an onward journey by bus the bus station is only an easy 10 to 15 minute walk away on flat ground. The 500 pesos which the taxi charged me for a less than 5 minute journey was the only time in my 2 weeks of travelling around the Dominican Republic that I felt really ripped off. 
I would really recommend this as a place to stay if you aren’t interested  in faceless ,luxury accommodation

Comfortable stay in friendly family home

I sincerely ask myself how possible is that this guesthouse has such high good review!
Is true the building is nice but nothing else.

First of all, impossible to find, there is no sign outdoor and also no doorbell. To find it we had to pay locals people to show us which house it was, then we stay about 15min in front of the entrance door because nobody opened us (of course no doorbell)- Location is in middle of nothing and not very safe. No restaurants or bars nearby.
To go to the room there are some steep stairs and with heavy luggage is not easy at all to go upstairs.
The room was totally dark, illumined by some faint light bulbs, NO AIR CONDITIONING, no tv, full of mosquitos, dirty room, hard bed that breaks your back and NEVER SEEN IN ALL MY LIFE (not even in India) NO HOT WATER, I mean that there is not even a hot water tap and not that day was missing!!!! Even in beach bungalow there is hot water. There is no daily cleaning of room and wifi works only outside of the room where you will be eaten by mosquitos.

We booked the room for two nights but because of all these problems we wanted to stay only one but the owner refused to refund us the second night, so we stayed there just because on the second day we did a tour and we left at 6.30am returned at 8.00 pm.
Breakfast is at 8:00 am, the last day we went at 7:50 am, but they said that it is not possible to have it before 8:00 am, even if the owner was going around in the garden doing nothing.
The final farce is the price 60USD per night for a GUESTHOUSE which worths is only 25 USD and I am generous !!!
Believe me, nearby you will find HOTEL with pool, breakfast, HOT WATER, air conditioning, free wifi, satellite TV and all amenities, located near restaurants, bars and shops at a better price (45USD)

What to say positive about? NOTHING.

I just want to say that we still talk about this place! Very unigue room and the whole place in general. We came right after the Hurricane Maria and the people after all that trouble they had were still amazing! We had the best dinner ever! We still talk about everything we have experienced there! the rooms out of this world!!! Def we will be coming back soon :)

The photos on the site are very nice but smell of animals, no mosquito protection in the rooms, very far from the beach and very limited breakfast! No housekeeping for a week!

Disappointing

Wonderful little paradise. It's a bit grim outside the property walls, but Lila and Matias offer a great retreat inside! Very homey, great food, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful garden, we loved it! Spent two nights before going to luxury resort, but would have liked to stay longer.

Excellent!

Their owners are wonderful people who make you feel at home, their mornings are beautiful and have an aroma of nature that makes you fall in love, the exquisite breakfast and even more is to say that Lila is the best company I recommend them 100% PD: I love Lila's coffee.

An excellent place for a fantastic and romantic getaway.

Awesome hostess.  My daughter and I had the best time. Food was delicious.  We felt and slept very comfortable.  Beautiful home and felt like true paradise. Once we learn the route to the beach, it was easy and safe.  Lovely family.  We are planning another trip soon.

Paradise

A very nice welcome. A real immersion in a very kind and pleasant Dominican family. The accommodation is located in a safe residence. The interior of the residence is very nice and quiet. The accommodation is not far from the beaches but by motorbike taxi or in Guagua access is not difficult. It allows you to really discover the Dominicans with the positive and negative sides. I highly recommend. Tariff more than interesting for small budgets.
