I'm in the minority here.  I stayed here quite awhile ago but hadn't gotten around to writing a review.  I didn't find Edith very friendly but again I am in the minority.  Fata Morgana is far from everything and as a single woman, I wasn't that thrilled about having to constantly track down a motoconcho.  There are no signs as to how to get to the place and I found it confusing finding my way back from the beach/town.  It wasn't very relaxing because there was a 24 hour bar nearby blasting the same music over and over and over.  I loved all the animals that were around.  No hot water of course. Kitchen was dirty.  I think for visitors who are more adventurous, this would would be an okay place. For me, I found it dirty, Edith kind of unfriendly, and really far from anything.

Fata Morgana Guest House is very genuine experience in the Dominican republic. The host Edith is very nice and sweet and helps you with anything you need. You have free wi-fi on the porch and kitchen which is used by all the apartments (always clean). The animals are adorable, walking around (dogs and two donkeys),loved it and would recommend it to any traveler.

Great experience

Michael who were working there is so simply human and helpful! Thank you for having be there! This have been a little paradise and when we have had some issues, we could find the solution. We also receive good advises about las terrenas and much more!
You don't need to pay a lot to enjoy a very comfortable place, allowing you to be independent because the kitchen is available... Very nice, I'd like to go back there one day!

We came up to las terrenas from punta cana. Google was giving us the wrong directions on where fata was located so we called them up. It was 8pm and they still answered and in English! Instead of just explain the route, the owner Edith had her son come to us and we followed him back! She set us three up in a room no questions asked and not even taking a payment. The room was simple, two beds, a bathroom and a fan. The water in the shower was nice and hot and the kitchen was communal fully stocked with glasswares, pots and pans etc. The best part was definitely the front porch with two rocking chairs and a hammock and it overlooked their gorgeously lush property. We spent every night (we stayed for 3) sitting on the porch sipping whisky and playing music quietly and playing cards, it was so relaxing and so inexpensive! Leaving on the third day with just a bill of $100 for the three of us total. 
Another spectacular thing about our visit was we were coming the area specifically to tour with flora tours and who should happen to be the tour guide?! Edith! So she set us up for the morning tour of Los haitisis without us having to lift a finger, we even got picked up in the morning. O definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for inexpensive non resort habitat for a night or a week!

Quiet and simple

The actual space itself is basic and clean. There was warm water which was very appreciated.  We loved having access to the kitchen, access to unlimited drinking water was very generous of her. 

Best part about it was the beautiful plants and flowers and just how private, peaceful and beautiful it was. 

This property is on the rustic side so not for folks who are looking for a more fancy, luxurious option - for example - we were without power for part of one day because it was turned off in the whole town and this is not a place that powers their hotel with a generator when the power is off. It also turned off a couple of times during the night which effected the ability to have the fan on but it came back on pretty quickly.
