Las Terrenas

I just want to join the army of people who love Manty and her family and the guesthouse. 

There is a really special thing going about the place and it is because of the people and the atmosphere they generate. There is also a young Frenchman there ATM, who is totally kicking ass

The home cooked food is my favourite in the DR to far. 

There is an atmosphere of a lot of mutual respect in that place. It shouldn't work so well but it does.

It's like the pictures. The owner is a wonderful person who knows perfectly how to treat and stay with travelers. We found it very good. We recommend it to everyone. The rooms are clean and tidy. The terrace upstairs is spectacular.

Two nights like home.

After finding it in the rooster's guide, we went to Dan and Manty's to eat, what an excellent buffet, and most of all, it was very generous, defying all price competition.

It's a must.

Thank you Manty for being so kind and accommodating! The rooms are nice and the buffet breakfast/ dinner is amazing! Lots of nice chill out/ social space too. 

And thank you Manty for lending me your eye drops!! That was so sweet:)

AMAZING HOSTEL! Makes you feel at home!

I enjoyed my stay here very much. Dan is very nice and helpful with activities and anything you need really. His wife Manty is an amazing cook and serves up top notch dinners. She is also very kind. The dorm was nice and comfortable. They have a great Communal area and the place feels like a home away from home!

Truly felt like a home away from home!

Dan and Manty's are very very friendly! You can't meet more helpful and honest people than they are! However, if you're looking for a little comfort, you'll be disappointed: no hot water, dirty sheets and towels, room not very clean...and the hostel being located in the poor and popular neighborhood of Las Terrenas, it's very noisy (day and night) and very dirty. But Dan and Manty's are lovely to eat...then make your choice! And it sounds like you're very good at it...Thank you very much to them, anyway!

Youth hostel

A new meal is cooked up everyday at 7 and the food is the type your mama cooked,good wholesome food that fills you to the brim and sticks to the ribs. This is a tourist friendly place and Dan goes beyond in making sure your comfortable and Manty makes sure your hunger is gone. Great place to even stop,by for a beer. A little out of the way but well worth the effort

A friendly place

A friend had recommended this hostel but I still didn't expect it to be this good! Dan and Manty are absolutely lovely people. As soon as I arrived Dan sat with me to tell me about the surrounding areas and Manty brought be a coconut with a straw to sip on. Dan offered to take me on his golf cart to the main beach, but it didn't feel pressured which I appreciated. I of course accepted though and was quickly orientated after the mini tour :) In the evening I met the other guests and we all sat around one table eating Manty's delicious buffet. I would usually go and eat locally, however Manty's cooking was too tempting and I also really appreciated the amount of vegetables and fruit on offer since I had struggled to eat enough of these in my previous days in Dominican Republic. The price for dinner and breakfast (again no pressure to do so) is really very reasonable and its a good chance to organise day trips will fellow travelers. Manty's family are often around helping out and it's nice to speak to them too :)  

Also, just a few little extra things that make you realise Dan and Manty do think a lot about traveler's needs and comfort- like just having a water tank you can help yourself too! (In another hostel this was not there and it was easy to forget to buy it and drink enough in the heat). 

I can't wait to go back!!

Tried to leave but failed! Best hostel in a long time!

The hosts help with all the problems that arise and try to do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. Our accommodation was very nice. Also, we got free food on arrival, as we had a slightly longer bus ride behind us. Only the way there could have been described a little better. Otherwise, we felt extremely comfortable there.

It's perfect.

Nightly at 8pm Manty cooks up a feast for an amazing low price. The is a bar and the vibe is great with backpackers from all over the world chilling to music and chatting. I strongly recommend you stop by.
