We stayed for 7 nights in the upper apartment named Fuffy, and we may stay here again if we return to Las Terrenas.
The apartment definitely need adaptation, both in rooms, kitchen area and bathroom.
The furniture is quite old, but if you do not expect high class, it is OK.

From entrance, you enter first bedroom with large bed and a wardrobe. From this room you enter the bathroom and second bigger room kitchen and entrance to the private terrace, a large bed, sitting area, smart TV and WiFi.
A/C available but looked very old, and was charged extra, we did not use it.
Bathroom is big with shower. Water pressure was not the best but this is a general problem in DR.
The staff do not speak English, only Spanish, but we communicated with them via Google Translator, and they were always around and very helpful when needed.
There were constructions ongoing around when we stayed in February 2023, but there was no noise from them, just the view was not so nice.
The house is surrounded with walls and a beautiful garden inside, you can also park inside the walls. On upper level there is room for hanging washed clothes and also an open shared terrace.
Kitchen definitely need adaptation, refrigerator is yellow inside, and equipment is old, but if you do not expect high class, there is enough for basic cooking.
There is a small shop with some groceries and water just outside, but there are also lots of other shops and supermarkets not so far away.
Nearest beach Playa Bonita is about 15-20 minutes walking distance, a few minutes by car. The beach is very long with palms giving a nice shade, crystal clear water, but a bit too much waves for swimming. Although a great place for surfing. There are many hotels along the beach with good food and drinks and live music.
The city is also close, about 5-10 min by car, but it is very crowded and hard to find parking. There are a few good supermarkets with big parking where you can stay for free, many restaurants, shops and all the long sandy beaches in Las Terrenas are beautiful.

Nice older apartment close to beach and center

Nice small apt type rooms a/c is $10 extra a day. Locked behind huge steel gates for safety. Its a long walk to the beach from there. Quiet area away from the noise and traffic. The owner was a nice guy.

The owner is very nice. The landscape is immaculate. The local beaches are not congested. It is about a 2 hour drive from the Las Americus Airport in Santo Domingo. The trip from Santo Domingo to Las Terranas is very scenic the closer you get to this destination. You will get a view of the Scottish Bay beaches from the mountain cliffs.

There is about $20 usd toll one way. I like to drive in this country, once I am away from Santo Domingo city. Dominican Republic has a bus line Caribe Tours. Caribe Tours offers very low prices, and quick trips to many cities and towns located on the island. Google the company, and check out the routes and fairs. I think the rate from Santo Domingo is about $10 usd one-way. There are also many local tour agencies. 

I recommend taking the drive from Las Terrenas to Samana. This is another spectacular and scenic ride through beautiful mountain towns. Once you arrive in Samana, you can take a boat ride to Cayo Levantado Island,that is about 10 or 15 minutes away. The Bahia Principle Resort is located on Cayo Levantado Island. 
There will be many vendors offering boat rides to the island. The prices varies, and are negotiable. Do not  allow yourself to be overcharged. At the same time, tourism has become the source of income for many. So, be thought and kind at the same time. On the island you have fresh fish and lobster for lunch or dinner. I had fresh grilled fish for about $10 usd. 

There is also an island called Callo Bijia that is accessible by a walking bridge. From a distance on the main street facing the Samana Bay, you will see the bridge. Ask the locals, and they will give you directions. I am noticing that there are not a lot of signs advertising for many of the country's natural attractions. As of August 2018, there was not a fee. Though, there was construction, and renovation in process, and I did allow an independent tour guide to show me around the island. I tipped him $5. But, he also rode with me to the entrance to El Limon, and I gave him another $20. El Limon is a must see. Either, by horseback riding or for the hikers, "bring your hiking shoes". At the end of the trail, there will be a small downhill with stairs hike that is unavoidable to reach the waterfalls of El Limon. The return trip up the stairs can be exhausting. I paid $30 for 2 horses, and I tipped the trail guide $20. This is a wonderful country, and the prices are very reasonable if you deal directly with the locals. "Enjoy your Journey".

Great Price For The Location

This is an excellent place to stay! Close to the beach and the center of town. Great, amicable hosts. Specially Juana, who is a lovely woman. The rooms have A/C, hot water & TV. The apartment studios have a kitchenette with stove, refrigerator and sink. There is a hot tub in the front yard with lounge chairs and even a BBQ. I will definitely be coming back here.

Great spot!

We stayed 8 days there while exploring all the beaches around Las Terrenas. It is a great option relating prize-quality. Clean apartments located neither too far nor too close to the village. Very quiet at night allowed a perfect sleeping. It is necessary to rent a car if you want to explore the surroundings.  Do not miss Cayo Levantado as well as El Portillo, Cason y La Ballena beaches. Carlos, the keeper, made the difference. He knows everything and help you with advises about touristic places and restaurants.

Good peaceful location

Nice place but ac is extra $14 US a night if you want AC. Even though you book a room with AC as one of the amenities , if you don't read the fine print at the bottom you find out the room with AC does not come with  AC --Its extra????? cool gardens with hummingbirds and nice flowers. two large gates to get through coming and going.
