Beeautiful resort overall and very relaxing stay.  My teen made friends though Passworld which meant I could do sports activities (love the sunrise and sunset yoga) and chill on the beach.  Lots of room to find quiet places or join the pool parties. My son liked the sailing (but preferred the Cancun sailing club atmosphere) and we did mini golf together and cheesy (in a good way!) evening shows which was good family time. Room was a bit dated but large, comfy and loved the sea view.  Food offer very good (can take a while for drinks service during meals but a small niggle)- really appreciate the fresh fruit and salads.  Overall 11 days of good mix of activity and chilling- came home relaxed and feeling healthy.

Excellent for family with teens

My family and I have been loyal Club Med guests for over 15 years, having visited more than five different Club Med resorts, including Punta Cana, Ixtapa, and Cancun. We have truly loved our time at Club Med, which is why we are currently booked for another Club Med Punta Cana trip in the first quarter of 2025.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the recent fire at Club Med Punta Cana that affected the main entrance, restaurant, and retail store. My thoughts are with the hardworking team members who have faced the challenges and disruptions caused by this unfortunate incident.

However, I feel compelled to express my disappointment in the way Club Med has handled communication regarding the fire. While I understand that the situation may be evolving, there has been a noticeable lack of proactive outreach and transparency in updating guests who have current reservations. I appreciate that this is a fluid situation but there has not been enough detail shared about what the resort will be like post opening and while construction will be ongoing.  For example, will there still be a gym?  Will there still be a theatre?  What will capacity in 2025 look like given they are moving from 3 to 2 restaurants?  What steps are they taking to mitigate construction noise and disruption of the main entrance?  What is the communication/update plan moving forward?

I would strongly urge others to exercise caution before making any new reservations at Club Med Punta Cana until more specific information is provided on the moving forward plan.

Concerns about communication & plan following Club Med Punta Cana Fire

We just got back from our second stay at this resort, and it was another wonderful experience! This time, we invited our good friends and their kids, and everyone had such a great time. At first, I was a little disappointed because not all the restaurants were open due to the off-season, but that feeling quickly disappeared when we ate at the main restaurant, Hispaniola. It has been beautifully renovated since our last visit two years ago, and the ocean views were stunning. The food? Absolutely amazing! I mostly stuck to the fresh seafood, and it was delicious. The service bar was so fantastic, and I have to give a special shoutout to the team for the desserts and gelato – they were out of this world!

Now, for the unexpected part of our trip: we were there during the big fire. This was definitely not something you want to happen during your vacation, especially when you have kids with you, and it was a bit scary at first. But I have to say, the Club Med team handled it all so incredibly well. From the moment the evacuation started, they kept everyone calm and organized. They opened up the restaurant earlier so we had a safe place to gather with plenty of food, fresh water, and juice. They even thought about the kids  and set up entertainment for them, which helped keep everyone distracted and at ease.

What really impressed us was how smoothly everything went. The team made sure all the guests were taken care of and reassured us during such a stressful time. When it came time to transfer us to other resorts, they managed everything seamlessly. We felt safe and well looked after the entire time, and I can’t thank the staff enough for their kindness and professionalism. They truly went above and beyond to make a difficult situation as comfortable as possible for everyone.

Despite the unexpected events, we had a great vacation and will definitely be back after the renovations are complete. This is already such a fantastic place for a family getaway, and I’m excited to see how amazing it will be when it’s all done!

We loved our vacation! Despite of the fire.

My family and I spent a week (plus 3 days, to be explained later) at Club Med Punta Cana.  We have two daughters, aged 8 and 10.  We loved our stay at Club Med.  It was the right balance of interesting activities and shows, and also space and amenities to relax.  There was something for everyone: kiteboarding lessons (costs extra) for my wife, archery and trapeze school for my eldest, and a reef fishing expedition (costs extra) for my youngest.  And of course, lots and lots of time at the pool and the beach.

The children's care program is excellent and well-organized.  You can drop off and pick up your kids freely withing operating hours.  The kids themselves can choose between two activities within each "activity period", each lasting about an hour.  These are kids club exclusive sessions of the "normal" activities, including sailing, trapeze school, tennis, archery, etc.  The staff at the kids club are wonderful as well - friendly, lively, and attentive to the kids needs and safety.  We saw many children forming real attachments to the kids club staff (more on this later).  We felt safe leaving our daughters there.

The food was somewhat hit-or-miss.  We took most of our meals at the Hispanola, which is right on the water and has a terrific view.  As expected of an all-inclusive buffet, the food ranged from inedible to excellent.  The ceviche on some days was very good, while on one particular day was literally saltier than sea water.  We found the pastas to be consistently cooked al dente, but the sauces often left much to be desired (on certain days there's a vodka sauce with shrimp that was divine, however).  The more formal restaurant, "Indigo", is also on the water, and delivers a much more solid (albeit less child-friendly) dining experience.  The fish tacos for lunch were very good, as was the picanha steak for the dinner (reservation required, but still included).  The staff for dinner at the Indigo were in particular very professional and attentive.  The manager of the Indigo (Sascha, I think?), was very friendly and we enjoyed chatted with him.  He also helped us secure reservations at the restaurant when we couldn't make the usual sign-up time due to an excursion, and personally delivered to our table a cocktail of his own invention, which was very good.

The guest rooms, while clean and functional, are definitely showing their age: chips in the paint, smudges on the wall, set stains in the tiling, dents in the furniture, etc.  We didn't mind much - we were really only in the room to shower and sleep.  But if you're looking to spend a lot of time relaxing in your room, this is one area that might disappoint.

The day before we were set to fly home, our youngest developed an ear infection.  The on-premise doctor advised us against flying.  He must've seen the anxiety in my face as I considered how much it would cost in penalties and fare differences to rebook our flights, because he quickly mentioned that the resort had insurance covering all of its guests for such incidents.  I couldn't believe it, but sure enough, we extended our stay by an additional three nights while she healed, and the insurance company paid for the extra nights, handled all the re-bookings, and even arranged for ground transfer since we returned to a nearby different airport.  It was a bit difficult communicating with the insurance company, since we don't speak French, but we are very grateful that Club Med took care of us in such an unexpected way.

Finally, I wanted to highlight one particular member of the kids' club staff: Ishmael (aka Mr. Banana).  We made friends with another family who had a daughter (we'll call her Lily) a bit younger than our youngest.  Lily grew a strong attachment to Ishmael - in fact so strong that she refused to attend kids' club if he wasn't there.  On the last day of their stay, our families were having dinner together when Ishmael stopped by our table in the restaurant.  He presented Lily with a tumbler, and in it was a photo of the two of them that had been taken by one of the official Club Med photographers.  Ishmael had had it made during his time off, and paid for it out of his own pocket.  We invited Ishmael to have dinner with us, and everyone had a wonderful time.

My wife typically doesn't approve of all-inclusive vacations, preferring more "active" trips, but on multiple occasions during the stay, she mentioned how she would love to come back.  The kids and I all agree!

A great active all-inclusive vacation!

BEWARE***  MAJOR FIRE DESTROYED MAIN BUILDING ON SEPT 12th!!  Absolutely brutal experience with Club Med. We had booked our family of 4 to the Punta Cana resort Nov 13-18th. We were so looking forward to the experience with the trapeze, etc. Our full refund policy stopped on Sept 13th, which we were fine with. Until we found out on Sept 19th (not via Club Med themselves) that they had a major fire that destroyed the main reception building, including reception, shop, a bar and restaurant. We contacted Club Med and spoke to “Martin Leberge?” And asked why we weren’t told about the fire and how if we had known about it in the 12th, we would have cancelled or postponed the trip. He stated that the resort is currently closed and promised it will be all fixed by October 15th. We asked for an exception to the cancellation policy as we should have been notified by the resort as it would have affected our decision, and he said “no”. We asked for a credit for what we have put down to use later and he said “no”. His customer service skills were lacking, and he kept telling us how we should trust him and believe what he tells us.  After the lack of communication and the way we found out, that would be a hard ask to do.  He kept promising us that it would be fully back to normal by the time we went and when asked if he would put that in writing, he once again gave us the runaround. He reached out to upper management to inquire if anything could be done, but stated he couldn’t get a hold of anyone. He promised to call back yesterday September 20th, but never did.

Shame on you Club Med. It is so underhanded when a resort doesn’t notify any customers of a major event such as a fire at the resort you are about to attend in a short time. The resort should be fully transparent, as it should be up to the customer to decide what they are comfortable with as it is their money and not the resorts.

MAJOR FIRE AT RESORT, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

We LOVED club med Punta Cana and would totally go back. We stayed in the Zen Oasis and it felt like a garden. We felt very comfortable, the food was great, and there was always something to do. The housekeeping made us fun swans out of towels for us to find in the room at night which was a fun touch. Travel was smooth to and from the airport- we were even there for the fire and had to go to Club Med Miches for one night and the staff was INCREDIBLE! They were on top of things and we always felt like we were taken care of, even though our plans had to change. 

My only negative would be that there was only one restaurant open (we went during the slow season) so the food was buffet style, we were excited about the options- but they had good variety at the main Restaurant and we always left loving some of the food that was provided. 

Incredible Honeymoon Destination!

If you want a resort experience that is a level above try Club Med.  we were sailing doing yoga archery and still had time to relax.

Love Club Med

We had a terrific end of summer experience et Club Med Punta Cana. The resort was like a small village and there was no shortage of activities for us to enjoy. Food was very good with good presentation. There was talk of a collaboration with Chloe Coscarelli for vegan items yet there was little display of this during our stay; possibly a result of the reduced occupancy at the resort. Beach was great, some minor rocks but very enjoyable. All the GOs - Terns Club, Watersports, asrchery, Golf, Trapeze we’re amazing!! I’d highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Wonderful family holiday

great resort, full of things to do and beautiful beaches.  i am usually excited about the teens club , as it is a great opportunity to interact with other teenagers, although this one was just not as good. the g.o.s were on there phones most of the time and the activities were boring. just low energy overall. i did although enjoy the michael jackson show very much.

Excellent 5 night get away for the family!  The Tiara Exclusive with its’ friendly staff including Dayna, Candice and Antonio made it a pleasurable stay.  The main expansive beach was great for snorkeling, swimming and other activities hosted by the resort.  A snorkelling excursion out to the coral reef with Eddie was epic.  The variety of foods, presentation and options for the whole family made meal time easy and very enjoyable at Hispaniola restaurant.  A trip to Hoyo Azul was a highlight.  Recommend to get there early and give yourself at least half a day at Hoyo Azul.  Overall, highly recommend this experience.
