This hotel has extremely nice people who all seem to want to do everything possible to help you.  To me, it seems they are bravely doing this with the deck stacked against them.  This hotel has a lot going for it - "good bones", as the saying goes.  Unfortunately, a number of fairly small things detract completely from the efforts of staff and the positives of the basic hotel.

The room is very large.  On the hot day I got there it seemed too large and hot for the A/C.  But after a very long time, the A/C caught up and was adequate for the rest of my stay.  The ceiling fans are necessary because the A/C is at one side of a very large room.  The lighting is good in the rooms - really this one room is like 2.

The bathroom and shower were good EXCEPT for the problems noted below.  The bed was very comfortable, the pillows just adequate.  The refrigerator was large and very cold.

With a little work to fix this place up and remove the DANGERS, it would be great!  PROBLEMS: The sheets and blanket desperately need replacement - though they are absolutely clean.  There are no pillow cases - pillow shams are used instead.  The shower doors are not on a track - open and close are by brute force as they are jammed together.  The toilet flush handle works - but must be manually returned to proper position.  There are only partial blinds over the window in the shower.  Caution is needed as there are 2 floor levels - about 3-4" difference.  The higher level going into the bathroom isn't bad.  The type of bed combined with the floor levels is, to me, dangerous.  The bed frame extends out well beyond the mattress and above the split level of the floor - easy to get a foot in the wrong place with bad consequences here (see pictures).  The sofa height seems to be for very short people only  and paired with the table height doesn't work well for using a laptop.  

There aren't any huge problems here - only a bunch of small stuff keep this from being a great place to stay with lots of space. The beautiful tile floors and the walls and ceiling are all good; cleanliness is excellent. 

Great Staff - Hotel with Unfulfilled Promise

Good place to stay in the colonial zone breakfast was included but had to walk to restaurant, We stayed with granddaughter in 2 large beds suite only included 2 breakfasts. this was our second time going here and had good experience

We wanted a place for a reasonably priced meal on El Conde in the Colonial Zone and ordered a large margherita pizza and shared a large Presidente beer all for $11 US.
The eight slice pizza was actually very good and with the beer a real bargain, and we were sitting outside on El Conde people watching at the same time.
The restaurant is on the corner of Duarte and El Conde.

I was fortunate to be on the 3rd floor of this hotel that is nicer than any of the photos and very reasonably priced.  My room had a modern gas stove top, pots, pans, dishes, full-size refrigerator, kitchen sink, and a large glass table with chairs in addition to a sofa and the bed. This was terrific as it allowed me to purchase all the bottled water I needed for this hot climate.  The free wife was also reliable and fast.  It was also great to not have to miss the U.S. presidential debates as you could also get CNN and FOX on the television.  It is in a superb location in the colonial district, and breakfast vouchers go to the restaurant one short block away that serves a hearty American breakfast of eggs, toast, and bacon. I had friends in several locations, and I would not recommend any room near the stairs. You feel very secure because of the 24-hour a day front desk service.  You should not expect the lobby or hallways to be air-conditioned as this hotel has an open skylight in the center. The air condition in the rooms works well.  My room 202 was very spacious with working stove that required a gas tank you can buy from the grocery one block away.  I also advise withdrawing from the ATM in the grocery rather than using money exchangers; do not use your credit card with any merchant unless you like drama. Everything was a short walk away.

Colonial Center, Good Service, Free Breakfast

Hello folks. Once again I satyed at the Roma 2 and overall it was an ok stay. There was no hassle at check-in, presumable because I used booking.com to make my reservation. Also there are now phones in the rooms which is a welcome improvement. The wi-fi always works well too. My only gripe is the towels are old and no bath/wash cloths are provided. Other than that, for an average price of under $50 US/night the location is great.
