Family run oasis outside of banos. The waterfall on site was beautiful and you could hear from our room at night...a very peaceful environment to relax in but still close enough to banos if you want to go there for food or adventure. Several walking trails on and around the property. Post friendly grounds and staff.

Pet friendly family run waterfall oasis

Romantic, peaceful, beautiful, hidden gem - skip lodging in baños and stay here in Ulba you can walk 3 of the famous waterfalls, and take a cheap taxi or bus to town or the other waterfalls. The manager is super knowledgeable as well and helped us find some great free hikes. Gorgeous rooms.

Hidden gem, superbly romantic.

Wonderful, peaceful location with a beautiful waterfall view. Oliver, the host, was so wonderful and kind throughout our visit. We especially appreciated that he accommodated my husband's gluten allergy at breakfast. The hotel was so unique, it felt like staying in a luxury tree house!  Absolute best place in Banos! 

Beautiful stay in Banos 

We LOVED staying here. It was absolutely gorgeous and away from the hubbub and touristy feel of the town of Banos. You're really up in nature and the architecture of the whole grounds is just totally inspired. The staff are incredibly friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have, as well as direct you toward whatever activities you'd like around Banos. Oliver was amazing and so were the two pups who lived at the hosteria, Anya and Bobi. Breakfast was included each day and always included the most delicious fresh juice. We would 100% recommend staying here for anyone coming to Banos, particularly if you're okay with. short cab ride to get to the town. 

Would come back to Banos just to stay in this hosteria!

The whole hotel is a magical place. Up in the mountains, it is quiet, except for the spectacular falls that are right next door. The restaurant is superb. The staff, welcoming and family run. Every detail in the construction of this wonderful hotel. Makes you feel like your in an upscale tree house.

Stayed for two nights as a family of four, wish we could have stayed longer! Fab room with girls sleeping in the rafters. Awoke to the sound of the waterfall. Breakfast excellent with lots of fresh fruit. Kristen and Oliver were very helpful hosts. Recommended a local guide Oswaldo to do a tour of the waterfalls which was fun and informative. Loved the family dogs! About 5/10 min by taxi into Baños. Ate dinner at local restaurant few minutes away one night which was good. A very unique and special place.

Home in the trees

Must be the best place to stay in Banos.  Well, it's slightly outside Banos, but that's a good thing.  The hotel was a labor of love, built by the parents of the current owner, Oliver.  The architechture is amazing, and the rooms are quite comfortable.  Walls of windows make you feel like you're waking up in the jungle.  Huge breakfast.  Waterfalls and rivers can be seen and heard from the rooms.  Birdwatching galore.  My favorite hotel ever!

Where Gaudi Meets the Swiss Family Robinson

This place is gorgeous!  Amazing architecture in an out-of-the-way quiet location (but only  5 minutes drive/taxi to Banos).  After the bustle and noise of Cuenca, oh how we enjoyed the quiet and nature, including a waterfall a few minutes walk down the road.  Rooms were unique and lovely, ours had a kitchen (though no microwave, it did have a cooktop), and a fireplace.  Huge room, bath and shower.  My sisters had two other rooms, smaller but still charming and much loved by each of them. There was a locals restaurant five minutes walk away with good food and very low prices.  We did some take-out from here or from Banos most nights.  It's a small family inn, so no 24-hour desk, but they hooked us up with a great guide with a van that we used for 3 days, and we had a blast.  Good hot breakfast each morning too.  Would definitely stay here if I ever come back to Banos.

Slice of paradise

We felt really fortunate to stay here at the end of October. The owners have obviously devoted a lot of love and attention into the property. The buildings are designed to appreciate the beautiful natural setting, which is backdropped with waterfalls and views of a forest-clad mountain. The house we stayed in was very comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed beginning each morning watching birds while eating a delicious breakfast in the main building. The owner's great recommendation for a taxi/guide (Oswaldo) along the waterfall route to Puyo also made for an enjoyable day for us after we left.

Beautiful property just outside of Banos

The hotel is beautiful, whimsical and relaxing. Architectural marvel. Breakfast was the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The service is first class. Highly, highly recommend!! Thank you to all the their employees for the service.
