Got my own room for 4 nights. Bed was big and comfortable with my own bathroom. Was a great place to stay and central location. Bar in the basement as well which was busy on the weekend. I would stay here again.

Great room for the price

I LOVE THIS HOTEL! When we arrived, we were greeted by the kind and helpful staff and led to our awesome room. The room was spotless and everything worked perfectly (even the hot water which can be hit or miss in some places). They have an amazing breakfast every morning as well. The hotel is situated near one of the best restaurants in Cuenca (El Mercado) and in walking distance to all of the museums and churches. The WiFi is reliable and fast. When I return to Cuenca this will be the only hotel I stay at.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!

Hotel Crespo is on a busy street, but the rooms are set back and the streets on the side and behind are very quiet, especially at night.  It is located close to the main entertainment area, but far enough away to avoid the noise - and is on one of Cuenca's main rivers with a really nice walkway along the river.  Food and service were great, with super friendly staff. 

Cuenca River View

We spent three nights here on our first visit to Cuenca.  Well located overlooking the Rio Tomebamba, four blocks from the cathedrals, near several museums, and close to restaurants.  Service was always friendly and most helpful.  Our room overlooked the river and was quieter than other rooms on the street side, I think.  Breakfast was truly good; you could order eggs and bacon if you wished.

One point worth mentioning:  we were on the first floor — two flights down from the lobby — which meant a lot of steps for someone with asthma trying to adjust to 8000’ elevation.  Room on the second floor would have less of a climb.

Worth returning to

Location is by far its greates asset. It is a landmark of Barranco, in the heart of Cuenca. A short stroll brings you to Cuenca´s old town highlights! Driving in during the afternoon is at times a bit slower, since Calla Larga has momnts of serious traffic in a narrow street. But it didn´t become a major issue. Breakfast buffet is basic but functional. You can order your eggs your way too. Coffee was terrible, so we opted for instant coffee (yes, better than the brewed one). on the other hand, they allways have fresh fruit juices- those were great.

No elevators could be an issue for some guests. While the staff is always ready to give a hand with luggage, stairs are a bit of a burden to some guests.

Friendly staff, extraordinary location

We stayed with Hotel Crespo for 8 days over Christmas! The hotel itself is a beautiful old, but well maintained building with comfortable rooms and a nice large breakfast room with views to the southern mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful, our third floor room was spacious and comfortable, and overlooked the Tomebamba river with awesome views. The hotel is conveniently located, just 4 blocks from the new and old cathedrals, the central park and several museums. Included breakfasts offered several fresh fruit juices, LOTS of fresh fruit, cold cereal, various hot items, and eggs and bacon cooked to order.  One note: the city was particularly noisy over Christmas and on a couple of nights we were serenaded by bands, and/or very inebriated celebrants until early in the morning. Notwithstanding this, we loved our stay, felt the price to be a good value, and would come again.
