Very attentive and educated staff. The varied and tasty breakfasts. The room that touched me was a bit simple but comfortable. The bed and its sheets are in very good condition but the towels are already very old, deserving of a replacement. The social areas of the hotel are beautiful.

Great location and excellent care.

It has an excellent location you can walk to the center of Cuenca, very close to everything, the facilities are very well maintained, the breakfast is very good👌, the staff very friendly the room impeccable.

A good hotel 👍

A very comfortable hotel, a beautiful room, extremely quiet even though it looked like the street, a very good breakfast, a very attentive staff and eager to solve any problems.

Sweet little one.

Just stayed a few nights in Hotel Cuenca, and didn't actually sleep until dawn the third night. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every noise that comes from the rooms on your floor as well as the floors above and below. The hotel has two 3-story rotundas that allows all of the noise to travel easily like an echo chamber. No one had their TV excessively loud, yet we heard every thing. Plus there are no fans or air conditioning, so you have to keep your windows open to circulate the air otherwise we were boiling hot. We were on the third floor and could hear people talking at the front desk! 

It's sad because everything else was so nice...gentle, friendly staff were super helpful, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was very nice. If you're a light sleeper, I'd find a different hotel. If you sleep like a log, no worries, you'll be fine.

I am beyond pleased with this hotel. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, the decor was elegant and charming, maintaining the rustic appeal of the colonial city, but above all, the customer service was unbelievable. Allow me to elaborate... 
I had just come back from Esmeraldas and accidentally opened my mouth in the shower. Fast forward a couple of days and I was sick as a dog. The waiter at the hotel's restaurant noticed my plight and ran to the nearby pharmacy to get me an electrolyte water and a probiotic med in between taking our order and delivering our meals. This kind of customer service is unbeatable! They were so attentive and even offered to bring up warmed up milk for my young child in the mornings, doing anything they could to help me fight of Montezuma's revenge. 
The location of the hotel is ideal, too. It is nestled in Historic Cuenca and walking distance to everything. We were also very pleased with all the meals we had there. 
I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Cuenca.

Exceptional customer service, charming boutique hotel

This hotel is colonial in style (close to the historic centre) in the city centre where it is not easy to stop to drop off or pick up guests. Due to its superficial notoriety, it drains many tourists (hence it is noisy not to mention non-existent soundproofing). The rooms are old; the staff try to catch up on all the imperfections of this establishment. There is also a restaurant where you can have breakfast and dinner (the kitchen is simple but correct and say good). There is also a bar with a few TV screens that also proceed to maintain a not necessarily pleasant background noise.

There's better.

This is a VERY nice older building, typical of what you find in the Historic Center of Cuenca.  It is very close to everything (walking distance) and only 2 blocks NE of Parque Calderon.

Some Observations:

1.  Pay attention to whether the breakfast is included in your price.  Unlike many other Ecuadorian hotels, it's not automatic.  My price did not include breakfast, and would have cost $10 to purchase.

2.  There is NO parking, but about 2 blocks away on Lamar there is a nice secure lot, 24 hours, which will cost about $5 (the hotel told me $3, but it actually cost me $5 due to my timing of arrival/departure).

3.  There is no elevator (also common in the older buildings in this area).

4.  The hotel is not very soundproof -- you can hear a LOT of things, including from the other guests (also common in the older buildings in this area).

5.  Great water pressure and very hot water, but the controls were a little mal-adjusted (confusing) and drainage was very slow.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel with very nice staff and GREAT pricing.  The above issues are not a big deal, but it's good to be aware of them before you book.  I would return.

Great Price; Some Observations

Comfortable accommodation, central location, close to several tourist sites in Cuenca. Good treatment, cleanliness, very rich breakfast, with free wifi, in general a hotel that takes care of the details. Totally recommended. Suggestion: update the location of Google Maps, there are two locations: one that says hotel Cuenca, which is not the correct one and another that says Hotel Cuenca Verdadero, this is the exact location.

Very good hotel in a great location.

Almost three years later I returned for two nights, all as the first time in general very well, to highlight the food, excellent and generous dishes.

My life is a mental illness.

It is a very cozy hotel, its rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff very pleasant, the gastronomy excellent, it is located in a central sector accessible to many architectural and beautiful places.
