The location is definitely one of the biggest assets of the Flightless Cormorant. It is only a few minutes away from the port and 20-25 minutes from the Darwin research center. The town’s possibly best gastrobar is also right next door. The rooftop is also a great spot for the breakfast. 
On the downside communication was virtually impossible without Spanish with any of the staff members. The rooms very comfortably large however hot water in the shower was rather rare. It is also slightly overpriced for the quality of the service.

Good location but few other perks

It was really just an "awesome deal" at this place where getting for just about 30 US$ a night were: not one but two "pretty sizeable" beds, a flat-screen TV of such size that it actually covers quite a significant portion of the wall on one side of the room (!), a nice en-suite bathroom, an a/c unit on the wall, a small fridge & a private balcony overlooking the Puerto Ayora harbor (although with "small obstructions" of one-storied buildings in between which are just across the street from this place); and yes in addition to all those nice amenities in the room was also a good breakfast (a "pretty filling" one with scrambled eggs & such); also I was "quite impressed" by the two very kind & friendly staff ladies (Allison at the front desk & the lady who prepares breakfast) whose guest services I would say made my stay "that much easier" (such as a laundry drop-off in the morning that I could pick up just a few hours later after coming back from sightseeing & some flexibility with the breakfast "somewhat past" its time which actually finishes pretty early by like 9 am or so at this place).

And located on Ave. Charles Darwin which is right on the "touristy waterfront", in the vicinity of this place (both to the left & to the right after coming out) are: restaurants (with an average price of 10 to 15 US$ for a meal although I did find some good deals including the lunch for just $5 at the place called The Rock at just about a 5-minute walk "to the right" after coming out of this place), souvenir shops (with really all miscellaneous "Galapagos-themed" items to make your visit a memorable one!), and also travel offices (for services such as my "day trip" to Isabela Island which was at a "fairly reasonable" price of 120 US$ and which turned out to be a pretty enjoyable one).  And yes, there's the pier at the "west end" of Ave. Charles Darwin (for the boats to all the other Galapagos islands such as Isabela & San Cristobal) at just a 5-to-10-minute walk "to the right" after coming out of this place and just all the way to the end where there's also a ticket office if going on your own to those islands and not part of a tour from one of the travel offices (as I did on another day after my guided tour to Isabela, this time totally on my own to San Cristobal with the round trip for about 70 US$).  And, if you don't mind a bit of walking, the Island's popular Charles Darwin Research Station is just about a 20-minute walk "to the left" after coming out of this place and just all the way to the "east end" of Ave. Charles Darwin to the entrance area of that site where nearby is also the tiny beach called Playa de la Estacion (not much for swimming with a rocky bottom but pretty ok for sunbathing & such).  And, if you don't mind a "long walk" (for about an hour in total from this place) to see a really "long & wide" beach, there's the high-ground starting point of the trail leading to Galapagos Beach at Tortuga Bay at just about a 15-minute walk from this place by heading a few blocks to the interior from the waterfront.

Good location, but because it’s really in the centre, at night lots of noise. So bring earplugs! 
It’s a older hostel, so a bit worn. 
They don’t standard clean your room, you have to put the sign on your room. 
I had a big room (for 1 person space for 3 persons. Bathroom was okay. Sometimes it took a while before a got a hot shower. 
It has 2 floors and no elevator.

This hotel is in a good location if coming from the port. There is no elevator or ground floor rooms. No breakfast is available before 7 am. We tried to take a shower but the water didn’t stay consistently running.

The owner and the staff are very friendly, helpfully and flexible. The location is perfect.Spend some good days there.

I purchased via Airbnb.  I knew it was a Hostel but the picture of the room that was advertised was not what we received.  There was a picture of a nice size window in a large room with a view and we received a tiny cramped room with a small window towards top of wall with a view of a section of the roof.  Also there was no hot water nor working phone.  I noticed the phone did not work shortly after arriving and reported it and they did nothing, just kind of shrugged their shoulders and pretended not to understand me.  So when we had cold showers that evening we were out of luck because the office was closed and there is no working phone.  In the early wee hours of the morning there was a screaming baby with staff member making the breakfast.  And on top of all that we were served instant coffee.  Are you kidding me?  Please, at least give me some real coffee after screwing me royally.  Save your money and go to a hostel that charges a lower price.  We found Darwin Hostel for $20 per night with a cute courtyard and en-suite bathroom within a few blocks from this place.

Not as advertised

I stayed two times, in different rooms, in March 2018 for a total of 6 nights. It baffles me that this place has a lot of bad ratings, it was actually great for me.

+ location is perfect, totally central
+ basic, clean rooms with AC, private bathroom and good matraces
+ by Galapagos standards affordable price around 30-35 USD per night for a solo traveler staying alone in a double room with 2 beds
+ breakfast can be arranged from 6am on demand if you leave early for a day trip or flight
+ nice lounge in the 2nd floor and beautiful terrace with seaview on the top floor (where you also enjoy breakfast) to hang out and meet other guests
+ free cold and hot drinking water available 24/7
+ surprisingly quiet, especially room 5 in the back

. This is more a guesthouse than a hostal, meaning that you get keys to the building and your room and there is nobody at the reception sometime, especially during the night.
. During my first stay, the receptionist spoke English, Spanish and German - I never had that before in South America. Then the receptionist changed between my first and second stay and the latter spoke only Spanish.

There is no hot water in the shower and the WIFI is slow (but very reliable!) - however, I learned when talking to other travelers that this is THE STANDARD in Puerto Ayora even in higher-priced places.

Underrated place

Let’s get to the point, you are in the Galapagos... all you need is. Comfortable bed and a shower. 
Yes it’s basic accommodation, do you really want to be spending time inside when you are in what I consider the most beautiful place on the planet?! 
The breakfast was basic, however was enough to get you started, was a variation of eggs each day, a juice drink, tea/coffee and a bread and cheese combo in different styles,some days fruit... look at the price you paid?! If you expect 5* food there is always the Finch bay hotel(which would have cost me the same for 1 night as I paid for 10 in cormorant flightless)

The shower did take some time getting warmed up, but then again the weather was hot so was refreshing to have a slightly cooler shower.

Bed was very comfortable, I was on the first floor next to a common area and had no issue with noise, the balcony area above from kitchen sometimes got a little noisy but never too late.

Room was offered to be cleaned daily however as I was barely in the room I requested it was only done every other day at most. Towels and toiletries supplied.

The location is INCREDIBLE. As close as you can get to the water without paying extortionate prices.

So yes it’s basic, but it is clean and comfortable, and inexpensive. You don’t visit this part of the world to spend it in your room or dwell that the curtains aren’t to your taste.
