Within a block from the waterfront, Hostal Andry (based on the room I had on the third floor) has simple, yet nice rooms with wifi access.  During my overnight stay, I was most impressed by the friendly staff and tasty breakfast.

I stayed two nights here recently during my trip to San Cristobal. My room was clean and large, with lovely high pressured hot water. There was a balcony overlooking the street, which is always an added bonus. The young lady at the reception desk was lovely, helpful, and very welcoming. Breakfast was served with attention to care and service, which is very unique in South America. The building is old and the furnishings are not on par to the W or grand Hyatt but you are also not paying those prices. WiFi is per Galápagos wifi. Located about an eight minute walk to ferry terminal and an even shorter cab ride to the airport. I would definitely stay here if I find myself on San Cristobal again.

Wonderful Stay in San Cristobal 

Stayed for three nights here when I was in San Cristobal doing daily tours. The management is very friendly. The rooms were basic. Considering what you pay for, it’s ok. The WiFi was on and off. The location is very central. Very close to the port and to most restaurants.

Basic accommodation, Good location 

Hostel Andry located in the centre of Puerto Baqueriza Mareno, the airport is at a walking distance of 1.2km. The hostel is OK but less than poorly managed, please read on.

At the entry you find reception, an unused restaurant with tables & chairs, and a kitchen. At the first floor is a ‘lounge’ with benches. The hostel offers 14 rooms and while other hostels were fully booked the place was empty, a miracle. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

The hostel serves breakfast at random. We got hot water for our tea and with muesli & yoghurt made breakfast ourself. When we walked up to the room to get something we found the breakfast room closed and the main door locked. The lady-receptionist was gone and the young man helping had disappeared into room 2. We waited for an hour to complete our breakfast.

At 09:45 the room-maid wanted to clean the room. Immediately we understood why the hostel didn’t have guests. They simply don’t care about guests. We felt sorry as the hostel has the capacity to be full of guests.

Our room was No 11, practically decorated and furnished, with an double bed and a single bed, table, open wardrobe, luggage-rack, airco, TV at the wall and a small private bathroom with washbasin, toilet and a shower with loads of hot water. Every 5 seconds the smoke sensor in the corridor provides an annoying loud beep. The window can be opened and has a mosquito screen. All was clean. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet. Check-out is at 10:00 AM.

Hostel Andry is an OK place. You have the port and the ferry jetty nearby. We recommend the hostel to anyone who seeks acceptable comfort in a good location.

OK hostel but totally inefficient operated

No elevator and WIFI on the third Floor made it Tough.   Breakfasts were inconsistent.  Hotel front door was closed most of the time. No front desk people present for help with questions.  The rooms were okay and it´s a cash only place.  Employees mostly family so appear do not have the incentive to work hard.  The 360 Degree snorkling tour we booked with them (the next door travel agency with the same ownership) was a disaster.  Two out of five snorkling mouth pieces were damaged and unusable.  When returned we reported to John (the owner´s son) he just shrugged and with the attitude ¨too bad¨.

Some moody, unfriendly, unavailable front desk staff

Stayed the night here before our live aboard scuba trip. Hotel is nice and located near the water and lot of great places to eat. Sent emails and facebook messages to see if I could get a pick up from the airport and received no response. Customer service needs to improve. If you want to pay with a credit card they will charge you more and no where on booking.com does it say that or even their website or in their hotel. When I paid with cash trying to get change was a hassle, he was looking in containers on the desk in multiple pouches and even his own wallet. I was given a mixture of American and Ecuadorian money. Wasn’t too thrilled about that. Also I was told breakfast is from 7-9, great and when we left and came back I was asked by the staff when breakfast was and I said 7-9 and he was wanting to know when I wanted to eat so I had to give him a time. All in all a nice hotel just small things need to get fixed.  

Overnight before scuba trip

A very well situated hotel in the heart of San Cristobal. Everything is on your doorstep. Close to the piers and seafront where you can sit and enjoy the sea lions. We enjoyed watching the blue footed boobies close up.  Rooms clean and breakfast good.

Good basic rooms

Third floor walk-up, no effort to help two 70 year-olds with their luggage. I declined the price the almost surly manager offered, and he promptly lowered it. Probably still too high, but it was cocktail time. Room was adequate and clean - a double with two unmade twin beds taking up most of the rest of the space. But, as I said, adequate.
