One of the loveliest places you could stay. Staff were exceptionally helpful, genuine and very lovely! Great sized rooms for travellers, solo or in groups. I stayed with a group on a world challenge expedition. Very secure, excellent breakfast and morning coffee, chocolate and juice. Warm freshly baked rolls as well. Great showers and colourful rooms! Very central location, everything is in walking distance. They even have small gift shop! Highly recommend…

A bit off the beaten track, this hostel is about 6 blocks from Plaza Foch. Clean and inexpensive. Good breakfast. Rooms are small but comfortable. Shower sprays only a dribble but the water is warm. Staff is helpful and friendly. A good budget option.

Comfortable and friendly

Stayed here in two spells totalling 6 nights. The staff at this hostel don't speak any English, as seemed common throughout Ecuador, so come armed with some basic Spanish. The location of the hostel is in a safe, clean area near to the university, making it about a half hour's walk to the old town. The hostel itself is fairly small, consisting of about 6 rooms. The room for our first spell was inside the main building, in the second it was an annex. Both rooms were clean, yet the bathrooms were to a very basic standard and extremely small ( you had to squish yourself against the toilet to open the door for instance). The showers were poor, either freezing cold or scalding hot, and nowhere in-between. The quality of sleep was also bad as there seemed to be a huge number of stray dogs who loved to bark at 3am every morning, there's little that can be done about this but it's disruptive. Breakfast was included in the rate, and consisted of bread rolls, eggs or fruit and juice with coffee. This was perfectly adequate however identical each day. This hostel is cheap at $13 per person per night so makes it acceptable. Laundry service is available for $0.75 per kg.

Safe and somewhat comfortable

I had seen photos of the property prior to arriving in Quito.  Someone must have been very skilled with a camera, because this place looked entirely different than pictured.  Despite our having a local person to reserve the "better" rooms for our group, the staff somehow got confused and gave our rooms away!  The ones we got were not comfortable or clean, and were in poor repair.  The shower put out hardly any water at all.  The rooms were cold.  The staff was nice, but very confused, and kept taking us to rooms that were already occupied.  This was overall a very upsetting experience and not something you want to find after a long flight.  I didn't expect the Ritz Carlton, but I wanted a clean and comfortable room and staff who knew what the heck was going on.  We ended up checking out the next day and found La Casa Sol around the corner, which was worlds better.

Disappointed!

we enjoyed staying at this hostel.  the staff is very sweet and the location is great.  In addition, the breakfast is good- I had the fruit and yogurt each day.  There is hot water and showers in most rooms.  Also, there is high speed internet but we had problems connecting MACs to it.

This hostel is Incredibly noisy at night and highly over priced.  The staff is rude and are not helpful at all. The book shelf is only for readIng in their stagnant uncomfortable waiting room. When I asked to read a book in my room the male worker was short with me and insisted I read the book ( 400ish pages ) in the waiting room.  when I asked to possibly do a book swap he also refused.  The rooms are extremely small to the degree of barely being able to open the door because it hits the bed. Don't stay at this hostel. There are better places to spend your time and money.

Expensive and rude

We stayed at Otavalo Huasi II (Wilson y Tamayo) for two weeks while taking Spanish classes at Yanapuma. Cristina, Ruben, Jasmine and the rest of the family and staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our room was big enough to unpack all of our belongings and transform the room into our "home". The breakfast choices were both filling and delicious. The outside courtyard is great for relaxing in the sun and we were able to use the kitchen. Overall, we loved our stay at Otavalo Huasi II and will certainly stay again in the future.
