When checking into the Meraki hotel (25/02/2020) I bought the PADI Open water diving course in the dive center within the resort. I told them that I was staying for 3 days and if that was enough to complete the course - of which they ensured me that it was long enough.

That first day they told me to meet them later that day at 16.00 at the swimming pool for my first confined water practice.

I'm all ready at 16.00 at the pool - waiting till 16.30 as nobody shows up, I'm going to the diving center. Where they tell me to wait a bit longer as the instructor is still on the sea. After waiting another hour they tell me to come back tomorrow morning at 8am.

The next day I'm at the diving center at 8am, just to find out that they will take me immediately out on a boat in the open sea. To which I say that I havent had the confined water training yet. The instructor says its not a problem as they go to a place that is exactly like it would be a swimming pool.

After 1 hour we arrive at the diving spot, we anchor, the instructor briefly explains the fundamentals about the equipment, sets me up. fully suited, I notice I cant breath through the 2nd stage, which again is not problem for my instructor and gives me the spare one instead. I jump in the water and after a quick check of my kit, he tells me that we swim towards a riff. After a bit of swimming face down I notice that we are actually already quite deep under water, as my instructor was controlling my dept. I felt it from the pressure on my ear. Not easily panicked, I do start to feel a bit anxious about what was happening. The instructor distracts me with the beautiful scenery down there and the fish and octopus.

After some time under water I start to get cold and get difficulty breathing and a slight pain in my ear, so I signal that I wanna go up.

After coming up and back on the boat I shiver from cold and cant get dry as I didnt bring anything as I wasnt told that I was going on a boat. After the short dive the boat takes me as a diver together with other tourists for the rest of the day until 17.00 to some island in front of Hurghada where ppl took some pictures, but of which I again was not aware - so basically wasted a full day for a surprise dive.

Coming back at the resort in the evening I complain to the resort manager - as there is a sign in the dive center that the hotel is responsible for all shops and services offered within the resort complex. The hotel manager talks to the owner of the dive center and they say that that was indeed wrong and offer me to go the next day with "his cousin" for diving. 

That night I develop a headache and my right ear feels like it has water in it all night long, and in the morning it hurt quite a bit, so I canceled the dive with "the cousin". They tell me that the next day another instructor will give me the confined water exercise. 

By then I already had to book extra days in the resort as I didnt want the money to go to waste and wanted to complete my course. 

Next day at the pool, a new instructor and finally some proper training in the pool learning me how to use the equipment. 

The owner of the dive center tells me to come back the next day as they'll do 3 open water dives with me.

Next day we leave at 8am with the boat and a load of tourists who are not divers, so I ask one of the guys from the diving center, if we're not going to another island for sightseeing. He confirms me that today is only diving. After rough and choppy sea and cold winds (yes in winter in Egypt) at 11.00 we are in real rough water and the boat stops, I ask if this is the diving location, to which the guide says, no - here we do dolphin watching,.... So for the next 30 min we wait to see one dolphin, by which I'm already cold and nauseous from the rough conditions.

By mid day when we turned back to the shore and reach the diving spot, I'm already that cold and sea-sick that diving is absolutely the last thing I can think of. The rest of the day the boats spends anchored at a reef for ppl to enjoy a snorkel or just lie on deck.

By 5pm we are back at the resort and I complain to the manager.

Next day they offer to pay me back my PADI course. but that's it.

No compensation offered for the extra days I booked in the resort,... no compensation for the wasted time.

They want me to sign a paper that if I accept the re-reimbursement that I drop all my rights to file a further complaint against the hotel or diving center. Which I refuse to sign, hence they dont return the money I paid for my course. 

In the diving center which is on the hotel facilities is a note stating that the the diving center is part of the resort and takes responsibility of all the complaints of any of the shops or facilities on the resort.

Scammers and thieves

I was there for 3 nights 4 days, the hotel shows every where that it is a 4 stars hotel but for me definitely it is not a 4 stars hotel and if I'll make this review upon being 4 stars I'm sure that will not be nice however, this hotel is giving a very good value for money as I paid 150 LE /night for a single room with a king-size bed and a sea view which is fabulous, 

The receptionists are nice and offering to help with a smile,
I didn't try their food as I was there for diving and I was eating outside the hotel, 
About the room its good in terms of size, view and bed, 
The hotel is OLD u will feel this in the televisions, elevator, room keys and the reception. 
In terms of location this hotel is located in a very nice location, I didn't try the pool or the beach but I think this hotel doesn't have a private beach 
The hotel is 9/10 as a value for money, 4/10 as a 4 stars hotel

Nice  place good and kind people very  clean place clean rooms  but the most very good thing  I loved the hotel style and the Arabian  style  I hop them all success specialy  Mr Shrif in the reception bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

Very very good

They put pictures of the beach and a pool of the other shedwan that u can see from the room but can't use, but all u get there is a dirty smelly room with rude staff. No breakfast no pool no beach. 
Waste of money and time!!! First night we arrived from the airport at 1 am, then we had to wait 3 or more hours till they "cleaned" the room for us!!! It was still smelly and dirty but we just needed to sleep!! Had to look for another hotel the next day so they wasted 2 days of our vacation with some false information and photos..

It's a trap!!!

Shedwan Garden is a very nice place. Looks a bit old fashion, but has a very warm atmosphere.

The room was good. We stayed in the main building so we had a sea view and enjoyed the sunrise every day.

The service is really good.

For day trips you can find Ahmed in the lobby. He is amazing for everything that you think of doing.
Plus he doesn't charge you tourist prices but local prices.
