Just returned after 2 weeks at a fantastic hotel. This is the third time we have been although the last times were in 2013 and 2014 and we wondered if it would still be as good, but we had nothing to worry about, it was as good as ever. 4 days before our holiday I broke my foot, I contacted TUI for airport assistance and they immediately also arranged for me to have a ground floor room near to the centre of the complex.  Our room was spotless with a comfortable very large bed and with a view of the beautiful gardens.  In our room was a complimentary bottle of wine and bowl of fruit (I think this must be because we were returning guests as friends that came with us for the first time, didn’t receive them). The fridge was stocked with soft drinks and beer which there was no charge for. 
The welcome and booking in experience at reception was friendly and seam free.  All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The TUI reps at the hotel were there everyday if we had any queries about anything and very helpful. Although I wasn’t able to participate in much, the activities available are immense, I can’t mention them all but there are lots of sports to participate in and some watersports but there is now a charge for windsurfing which they didn’t charge for last time we went. 
The Activity Team were so friendly and always said hello and spoke to all guests even when they weren’t involved in activities. The evening entertainment was also very good, most nights there was a show, with dancing and acrobatics, followed by some sort of party or disco or live music. During the day there were events like a foam party on the beach, a picnic afternoon, a sundown party with live music amongst other things and there was an app which told you what was on in the different areas everyday. 
I can’t praise the restaurant teams enough. The food and service was unbeatable. The food was of the highest quality and the most variation ever. If anyone said there was nothing they liked to eat, I wouldn’t believe them. The waiters remembered what we drank and always had a smile. I mustn’t forget the bar staff, it didn’t matter if you were sitting on the beach or inside the bar, they were there to get you a drink with a smile, morning or night. (24 hour bar) I am not mentioning any names because everyone worked hard and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out.
 We were very lucky with the weather for January, it was up to 26 degrees some days, cooler obviously in the evenings needing a cardigan or jacket outside most nights, but not all. 
I could go on and on but I think people will get the idea. We will definitely return sometime and are thinking about trying other Magic Life hotels around the world. Well done TUI Magic Life.

Simply Amazing 👏

This was our 3rd time at the hotel - and we're already planning next trip. We spent most of the days in the relaxing pool, never an issue getting beds. The lagoon was a little cooler this time of year - but still amazing for swimming and lots of water sports. The food was plentiful and good variety every day. Rooms spacious, and like every else - spotlessly clean. Finally the staff are amazing - so friendly and helpful.

Another perfect stay - can't wait to go back!

I highly recommend hotel Tui Magic Life Kalawy, instead of one thing. We came with a big family group of 9 people for two weeks. The food was just amazing, every day something different. The staff in the restaurant was really kind and polite, they took really good care of us during our meals, they are working really hard every single day. The hotel is very clean, the staff takes care about every single detail, its just unbelievable. The entertainment team is very professional, during the day, many activities for everyone and during the evening amazing shows with amazing dancers and after the show there is even a party, so you cannot be bored in this hotel. As I said everything was just on point insted of one thing - the clinic in the hotel. Before our trip, we bought extra insurance, just in case, and thats our case. My husband during swimming in the pool hurt his head. He got an open wound, the blood was all over his face so we went stright to the doctor. The doctor put 3 stitches and gave him injection with antibiotic to prevent an infection. I called our insurance company to report the accident, they said that they will cover all the costs directly with the clinic so I dont need to worry about nothing, the doctor only had to send the medical report and reciept to them. But that was a huge problem for the doctor Sameh Gabra, he wanted me to pay everything cash in the reception in our last day. The doctor had 3 days to send all the documents, and he didnt send them. I asked him few times to send it, but he keep repeating „pay cash in the reception” Three hours before our transfer to airport we got the letter in our room with the medical report and repciept. I immidietly sent it to my insurance and they paid it. Then we wanted to check out but they didnt let me leave the hotel because the bill for 500€ for the clinic was waiting for me in the reception. I tried to explain them that the insurance company already paid so they called the doctor. Dr Sameh was really rude to us, he keep saying, pay cash now. I called insurance company they spoke with the doctor, after 15 min speaking they said that everything is figured out and I dont need to pay nothing coz insurance paid. I have a feeling that the doctor wanted to cheat on us, I was very stressed during those last 3 days. I needed to make many calls. Im very disappointed about the clinic and dr. Sameh. Hope that when Im back in this hotel, there will be no need to go to this clinic.

Excellent hotel instead of 1 thing

We have recently returned from TUI Magic Life Kalawy - our second home!  There are several reasons we keep going back. The sports facilities and tuition are excellent. The rooms are comfortable. The food is delicious and seems to get better and better. This year they’ve started doing jacket potatoes at lunchtime. They are gorgeous!!  Please can we request they are included in the evening menu as well as the steak and chicken pies.
The staff are amazing  - special thanks to:

Ahmed Abdalmay - waiter in the main restaurant - always smiling and very efficient, Eid Gomaa - slide pool chef - cooks the most amazing burgers
Sedik Ramadan - great barman 
Leah and Ashleigh who’s exercise classes are fabulous 
Hakim - tennis coach - best ever!
And finally, of course, Wolfy, Amber and Snowy who captain a steady ship!  Can’t wait to return in a couple of weeks!

One of the best 

I came here on 30th Dec 2022 for 9 nights with my Mum and partner. We had a 1 bedroom family room which had a double bedroom, bathroom and then twin beds at the other side. We stayed in room 11004 and it was a huge room looking out onto the childrens pool. 
We had no complaints at all during our stay. The staff are super friendly, Wael and the beach bar staff work endlessly to keep everyone happy and hydrated. Mahmoud at the lounge bar also works his socks off. Every member of staff is there to make your holiday enjoyable and they definitely go above and beyond. We enjoyed Archery with Christophe, we had a lovely massage in the spa, and did Quad biking through the desert which was fab.
The food is absolutely amazing and so much choice. Everything is super clean and hygienic. 
We asked for extra pillows and they were delivered within 10 minutes of asking. The cocktails are amazing and we drank a few blue Coasts between us!
The entertainment was good, we loved the fire beach party.

All in all this is the best hotel I have ever been to and I have been to lots of places around the world .
So much so we have booked to go again in April, just 14 weeks since we left and we can't wait

First off, this place is tailored for Germans. Nothing bad about that, but if you're not German, be prepared to feel like an alien. However much we tried to underline not speaking German ourselves, we always got a "Danke schön", "Bitte" etc. from the personnel, which, after a few days got pretty annoying. Like, how hard is it to just reply in English if that's the language your customer is speaking?

Some positives:
The place is beautiful, clean, well kept and the staff were mostly friendly if hardly professional at least by western standards. The varieties and plentyness of food - great. Snorkeling (although a bit challenging on windy days) was good, likewise diving on the house reef. Dive staff professional and helpful. Pools etc., nothing worth complaining about.

However, this place does show some of the darkest sides of the tourism along the Red Sea coast.
Literally zero effort seems to be made towards sustainability. Like stepping 20 years back in time, plastic bottles (of all sorts) were used for water, lemonade etc. This goes for the bars, restaurants, everything. We were told during our week the resort had 1400 guests. If every guest drank an average of a couple of water bottles + a bottle of lemonade (which is probably a gross understatement), it adds up to 4200 half liter non-recyclable bottles per day or roughly 1.5 million bottles per year. In a country that's drowning in plastic, that's a problem.

TUI Magic Life Kalawy should have water points or refillable water containers and lemonade machines, just like other resorts in the area have had for many years. Having recycling bins outside the room blocks isn't good enough. At the minimum, they should be in the hotel rooms, were the waste is created.

The same obvious neglect for the environment was clear in all the activities, shows etc. Just plastic and one time use of materials for everything.

This needs to be address!

The horse & camel stable that functions on the compounds of the resort: Although I know not to expect western standards when it comes to animal keeping, this place was a sad sight indeed. Horses (as well as presumably their camels and donkeys) are beaten right in front of your eyes, so one can only imagine what they do when tourists aren't looking. We went for a 2 hour ride and the guides kept whipping the poor animals, without any reason whatsoever. Also the riding equipment was outdated. Considering this is not exactly a cheap place, I wonder why the standards are so low.

I would have easily given this place more stars, but these days one should be able to expect dedication to sustainability as a standard. At least from an institution like TUI. Safe to say we won't be coming back before these issues are fixed.

Mixed feelings

This resort is a bit of a strange beast, I would say beware of the 'five star' marketing, but that it is fine, and OK value for money.

1) Service standards are very mixed - at the buffet the waiters are terrible and basically untrained, you wait for ages, they slam cutlery down, forget your drinks etc. (even if you are a noticeably good tipper). Really Tui need to parachute in a decent front of house manager to bring the standards up - leadership and standards matter.

On the other hand, staff are friendly, the cleaner was really excellent, and the pool and entertainment staff were  good too.

2) The location - fantastic, huge sea frontage, coral reef, shallow lagoon for watersports, massive beach, well designed buildings, astonishingly good gardens, lawns, pools etc. But the actual rooms themselves were dated, air conditioning was a bit touch and go, we had to get a new blackout curtain to make the kids part of the room dark at night.

3) Clientele. All German -  the staff spoke better German than English and there were a few misunderstandings along the way, nothing major. Oh and it's 99% white btw - we got a few stares as a mixed-race family.

4) Food. Not great - think 3 star hotel buffet for the main restaurant. Kids will love the variety and quantity, adults likely to be less impressed. We went to two 'a la carte' restaurants over the weekend also - fairly weak - think a slightly upscale pub that does fresh food rather than a classy big city restaurant back in the UK.

5) Quality of beer and coffee should be addressed. Coffee from the beach bar fine, from the restaurant consistently poor. Same for the standard issue lager - not really good enough.

Overally one could argue it's not the most expensive place out there, you get what you pay for, and the kids will like it. I would rate as 'fine' rather than 'excellent'. Just remember you need to tip - it's essential - far more so than in the UK - you should be handing out at least 10 pounds/euros, probably more, in small quantities every day.

Weird mix of 5 and 3 star amenities

My husband and I stayed with our three little children (age 6, 4 and 1). And let me say for one, the mini kids club was our lifesaver to have a couple hours quiete time a day! Victoriia and Katrin are just the sweetest and enthusiastic animators for the children! Big thumbs up for those ladies! 
The food was fantastic! I would even say the best food of all all-in hotels I've ever eaten. They put great effort in it and it shows! The rooms and resort is impeccable clean and the staff very obliging when you need/ask something.
Some personal min points are for one the size of the resort. We personal do prefer our stay smaller. Also at the pool we were said several times our kids were too loud, while they were just playing with my husband and totally not being loud (trust me.. I know). At the beach we were asked to play our beach ping pong game somewhere else because of the sound it makes. There are areas specifically for those activities, and we do understand that but it's just not always practical with small children (the activity pool was very cold unlike the other pools and at the beach during our game, our smallest kid was sleeping at the place we sat that day). This gave me personal pressure to keep my children quiet most of the time, which people with small children know is not a walk in the park 😅.
By and large we had a nice stay and I would recommend Kalawy!

Came with 2 young kids, a friend and her 2 kids too. It was paradise! Would really have to think hard to find anything negative to say. Very clean, excellent food, felt really cared for at all times, friendly, responsive staff, extensive excellent facilities. We were sobbing to leave!
