We spend the weekend in the Setomaa district and learned much about the culture and traditions of Estonia and the Russians. We visited a farm, church, saw one of the young ladies in our group being transformed into a Setomaa woman. We enjoyed the dances so much! We did not like the food. Worth a visit.

Setomaa village is like living history

There were 22 in our group, and we stayed just over a week.  Clean accommodation, fantastic sauna, welcoming staff, and fantastic food by a wonderful and creative cook. This venue can handle groups larger than ours, or smaller. Can't say enough good things about it. 

Great place for a group holiday

We spent 08 - 10. August in  Setomaa Tourist Farm  with the colleagues and their families.

It's a nice place indeed with the small cozy log houses and  rustic interior.
We also ordered breakfast which was modest, but still good.

Regrettably all these positive impressions were completely spoiled by the Setomaa Tourist Farm employees.
It's the most unwelcoming and arrogant customer service we all have ever met.

They yelled at our children that they should shut their months or otherwise they will deal with our kids directly.
They tried to overcharge for the fridge usage EUR 50,- , saying we unexpectedly had too much food with us.
( probably they supposed, that 15 adults + 5 children we should bring with him only one yoghurt per person, I really don't know )
On Saturday they kind of tried to sort things out, but their arrogant and unpleasant attitude has brought negotiations to a standstill.
We asked to call owner ( who was in another house , just 20 m away )  and continue negotiations with him directly, but he never showed up.

We have a 10 year practice of spending one Summer weekend with colleagues & families and it's the first time one choice was such a disappointment.

Setomaa is a very nice region with the spectacular views, but I do believe there are much better places with much more welcoming stuff than Setomaa Tourist Farm.
