The apartment had two floors, but the rooms were so small that we couldn't do anything.The stairs were really steep and narrow.This accommodation was so cramped that there were no decent sleeping places for the dogs. The outdoor terrains were great and the grocery store was nearby.

Next time someother hotel

Everything was as expected. It wasn't a five star place but everything worked as it should. Great views, nice breakfast. The cabin was clean and decent. Location is great and service was good. Quite expensive though, considering you have to bring your own sheets or pay extra. 

Three nights in July

We stayed here while hiking in the area. This is a decent place to stay if you want to sleep in Kilpisjärvi. 

PROS:
- cozy, spacious wooden cabins with sauna, fireplace and terrace
- staff are accommodating
- nice views to Saana
- breakfast available on order

CONS:
- be prepared to pay 12€ for linen/towels
- funny smell in apartment (I assume from the previous tenants' cooking)
- not very modern
- cleaning fee is 50€ if you don't do it yourself

Also, we woke up in the middle of the night at 3 am to a loud and irritating buzzing in our bedroom. We went outside in the dark to see where it was coming from when we couldn't find the source within the house. Turns out it was coming from the machine room that had a common wall with our bedroom. We called the reception to check if it's normal, turns out it was probably the geothermal pump that woke us up and it's normal. I'm a light sleeper, so this may not bother others, but it was quite bothersome until it shut off a good 15-20 mins later.

A decent accomodation

We used the given instructions to heat the sauna. After 40 minutes it was about 30 C. We set the temperarure to the maximum and after another 40 minutes it was 48 C and we had to just go there. They didn't givr any discounts because we should have callee them in the middle of the night to move to another cabin or use a sauna from some other cabin going there half naked through the swarms of mosquitoes in the middle of the night. We didn't feel like doing that with the family. Otherwise the cabin was ok.

Sauna was broken and no discount was given

When we arrived at artic polar I notice a sign saying if you didn't clean i wouldn't recommend the place the first thing I noticed going in was a sign about cleaning in a certain way or you'd be charged a €50 cleaning fee. Then to my surprise I find old food on the floor in the kitchen, under the table, the floors dirty, chairs stained, sofa marked, hover broken, sofa bed badly ripped, outside lighting not working, clock broken and with dead battery, we had to clean everything including putting the dishes cutlery, pots and utensils through the dish washer. We called out help for the light and mentioned the other problems and were told the cleaners were probably tired as theyd had a big group in, after 4 visits with the wrong bulb our light finally worked however nothing was done about the rest. Never again

Not impressed

I called Artic Polar at 3 AM on a Monday night. We were stuck in 7 feet of powder on the side of the face of the mountain, a couple feet from the cliff. There were wolf tracks all around and we could hear howling. We were there for hours, trying to get unstuck. Some passerby’s tried to help but couldn’t. I called Artic and he came within five minutes and towed me out. I know this doesn’t have to do with this business, but it does have a lot to say about the character, reputation, and honor of the man running this business. He bent over backwards for us, and will for you too.

Cabin was basic but cosy and clean and had a small sauna which was great. Like most Finnish places you have to pay for bed linen and towels. Breakfast was a wide variety and coffee was good.

Lady serving us breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed our stay.

Cosy Cabin 

We stayed at the Arctic Polar Holiday Village cabins in December while exploring Lapland and the Arctic Circle as a family. Despite being the only guests in the complex because of the off-season, the hosts were extremely accommodating with a delayed (late night) check in, gave information for activities in the area, provided sleds for our kids, wood for the fire stove, and spared no attention to detail in the cabin. 

The cabin itself was clean and well thought out. Not much decor and very basic furnishings but completely sufficient for a vacation stay. Linens were provided with extra fee and were not great quality (stiff and rather scratchy) but also quite sufficient. Bedroom on the lower floor got colder than the rest of the house. Upstairs was very warm and comfortable when the stove was burning. Kitchen was well stocked with basic pots, fry pan, mixing bowls, dishware, and utensils. There were also some spices in the cupboard as well as a coffee maker and hot water boiler. Although we generally avoid drinking tap water in Europe, Finland tap water is quite safe and the water in Kiplisjarvi was some of the best we've had. The fridge and freezer were decently sized and worked well. The dishwasher was large and easy to use and came with dish detergent and washing tablets. The microwave was older but worked just fine. The sauna and shower are in one room while the toilet and sink are in a separate room. The entryway has a large clothing dryer for drying wet jackets and hats but also useful for drying hand washed clothes (since there is no washer or dryer for laundry). Stairs are quite steep and more like a ladder so be aware if you have difficulty climbing. Cleaning was not difficult and you can also opt to pay a cleaning fee instead. 

The views of the fells were spectacular and we were told that Northern Lights are often visible above the cabins. Our kids loved sledding down the driveway areas. Although extremely remote during the winter time, we felt quite safe and loved having a warm and comfortable place to stay in. Right down the road within easy walking distance is a K-Market which is very well stocked. We cooked all of our meals in the cabin with no problem. Lack of dishtowels was an issue so recommend bringing your own or paper towels. The sauna was great! Clean, did not smell bad, and could get quite warm.  There is a restaurant in the complex, but we did not have a chance to try it out. 

Despite getting only 3 hours of "twilight" every day during our stay, we loved being guests at the Arctic Polar and hope to return one day!

Breathtaking destination, clean, comfortable, attention to detail

In this winter land with so many spectacular views we were hosted warm and with plenty of good food by JP and his family. Great views for northern light and arctic activities around. The apartments are cosy and have everything you need including a nice sauna to warm you up after a cold day outside.

Great Finnish hospitality

Nukuimme siistissä ja uudehkossa kahden hengen hirsihuoneistossa. Sisäilma oli meidän kokemuksemme mukaan erittäin hyvä (olemme sisäilma-allergikkoja). Suihku- ja saunatila oli
 viihtyisä ja raikas. Yläkerta oli pitkälle henkilölle ahtaahko. Siivouslista tuntui turhan tarkalta, tosin ehkä se on syy huoneiston siisteyteen. Alakerrassa voisi olla enemmän naulakoita. Ystävällinen palvelu.

We slept in an appartment for two people. It was fresh and clean. We suffer from allergies and this was a great option for us. The roof upstairs was quite low for tall people.
