The cottage is very nice and comfortable, very well equipped. We were 8 people and there was plenty of everything in the kitchen.
It is in a very quiet location but everything is close by for sports activities and shopping.
It was a relaxing week with snow scooters, dog sleds and the Northern Lights.

Northern light

We took our 3 boys and my parents for a week to Finland and rented Yllashilla Cottage two weeks before Christmas. The main aim was to meet Father Christmas but we wanted to experience everything else this part of the country had to offer too. Having spoken to other families we definitely lucked out by choosing this area as the Father Christmas excursion was beautifully real, nothing tacky or fake, not overcrowded (only 20 or so other people) no merchandising or flashing lights just a simple believable secret village which made my 11 year old believe again! Nicola, the owner of Yllashilla helped us out with all our questions, put us in touch with organisers of husky trips, cross country skiing lessons, snowboarding teachers, restaurants and everything else we were looking for. She couldn't have been more helpful. The cottage was picturesque in it's setting, warm and cosy and had everything we needed right down to a heated clothes dryer! We had hired a car and the supermarket and local restaurants were a 10 minute drive away and about a 40 minute walk. We were 7 people and there was plenty of space for more. We honestly had the best trip it was what you dream Christmas to be like! Although having cross country skied across the lake and through the woods I would imagine it is pretty stunning in summer too. 

Amazing cottage in picturesque winter wonderland

We spent 5 nights at Ylläshilla as a family of 10. It was a very comfortable cabin with everything we needed. We especially loved the Kota where we spent most nights round the fire, it was a great area for socialising. We were out most days but we had one day staying in and had lots of fun playing around on the sledges, fat bikes, we even got our skis and snowboards out. The neighbourhood is great, very quiet and pretty to look at. Leading up to the trip, Nicola couldn’t do enough to help us plan our trip to perfection, not something you usually find with a private rental.  We’ll definitely be heading back to Ylläshilla at some point, we loved it.

Beautiful home from home

This cottage was perfect for us. Warm and comfy. We couldn't have asked for more!!! Celebrated Mom's 80th birthday here with great fan fare with the family all from New York. Was delighted with the cabin. Shared many happy memories inside.

YLLASHILLA COTTAGE

We absolutely loved our trip to Lapland. First time ever that far north. The log cabin fitted our two families perfectly. The beds were comfortable. The supermarket was a short distance away. The cabin was warm and cosy. We saw the Northern Lights and went reindeer sleighing. The ski slopes, which are only 5 minutes away, were quite empty which was perfect for learning to ski. We travelled to Akaslompolo by the sleeper train from Helsinki which was fun for all (quite the Orient Express but without the body). I would definitely recommend Yllashilla for future Lapland adventurers.

Idyllic skiing interlude in Finland

The cottage is like a book of fairy tales. It's incredibly cozy and comfortable. This barbecue is a dream. The nights at the fireplace in the snowy landscape were unique. These bedrooms are very cozy and practical. The cottage is generously designed and offers 6-8 adults easy space. There are 2 beautiful bathrooms and a sauna. The WLAN is fast. The kitchen offers everything you need for a self-catering vacation. Shopping and restaurants are still in the works. The cottage is very quiet at the end of a beautiful short street.

A dream vacation in a fairy tale cottage and surroundings.

An unforgettable experience in Finnish Lapland. Charming cabin very close to skiing and the shops but on a quiet road. Stylish interior and well equipped kitchen. I highly recommend the Kota as part of the full Lappish experience.

Wonderful winter wonderland

We were in Ylläshilla with six people in January to see the northern lights. The cabin is beautifully woven and the furnishings are dirty. Much looks as if it were made of wood by the owners themselves. The fireplace in the living room makes it extra comfortable. Ylläshilla is large enough to guarantee enough privacy for six people. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and some of what the previous owner left there (e.g. coffee, sugar, more, salt, etc.).

Lovely, gigantic cottages

We'd like to thank the hostess Lynn for her warm welcome, responsive service and service. This is our first trip to the most beautiful part of Lapland. You'll never see anything like this anywhere! A beautiful house that includes everything you need and even every little thing! We were eight people, including little children.

Never lapland

We were at the turn of summer or midsummer in ylläshilla. It was beautiful. The house is a dream, enough space for the four of us, but it would have been loose more space. Very clean and lovingly decorated. Especially the lamps did it to us. The surroundings were the hammer, out of the house, into the forest. There is a great waterfall nearby, reindeer where you can look, it is beautifully quiet...we are in love. We are hard to come back anyway, but this time in winter!!!!!
