Definitely to be recommended, even as a base 'camp' for cycling tours. Situated not far from the capital of the Aland islands, in a picturesque seaside location. Run by a lovely Dutch couple. Room was very spacious and clean, with a potential to prepare your own snacks (bring your own utensils). Sauna by the sea was very relaxing (mind the slippery floors), a swim in the sea exhilarating. Food was prepared to perfection; breakfast was sumptuous. Wifi free of charge. Excellent beds, quiet surroundings -> slept like a baby.

-Close to Mariehamn and other places in Åland.

Great hotel, fantastic dinners

Good and spacious cabins in beautiful surroundings by the sea. Affordable price. It was my second stay there after almost a decade and still as nice as before. Easy to visit the whole mainland Åland by car.

Nice cabins in the middle of the Åland islands

 Clean countryside hotel with good bed. The personnel makes you feel warmly welcomed.  Restaurant serves teasty food, if you miss the lunch try their caesar sallad. Lamm is good for dinner, they know what they are doing. Sauna can be reserved for private bath. Unfortunately sauna facilities are a bit shabby, suggestion for the hotel: prepare a sauna bag with needed towels and drinks. 

Warm welcome and good service at Bastö

We booked this hotel for 4 nights via booking.com. There were a lot of pictures of the accommodation but when we arrived, reality hit hard, all the pictures were from the ”luxury” rooms and our cottage was nothing what we had been showed. There was no tv, we couldn’t reach the cottage by car even though booking.com says that the accommodation is possible to reach by wheelchair, there was only a small path to the cottage. Toilet smelled like no one had used it in ages. Kitchen was supposed to be fully equipped for cooking but there was not even baking trays and the kitchen light didn’t work. Toilet and kitchen were straight from the 60’s with vinyl wallcovering. There was promised to be a kid friendly beach but there were none beaches. We couldn’t be there for longer than 30minutes and left immediately. Only good thing was that cancelling the accommodation was free.
