Restaurant with friends

It's a very bucolic and charming frame with a nice swimming pool. Unfortunately this one lacks a little maintenance. Same for the rooms. The rooms are clean but the dust hasn't been made for a long time. The owners are welcoming. The few negative comments from the previous reviews are certainly related to the difficulty of the language of the guests (they are strangers). We didn't test the dinner but the usual people told us that it was worth the shot.

It's a little cool and requires some work, but it's a very nice place with a nice swimming pool.

We had eaten here a number of times in the past having seen an article about it in Good Food Magazine a few years ago.  
The meal was as good as we remembered.  We love how the chef incorporates fruit into all his dishes.  We will always go back to eat when we are in the area.

Lovely Meal

The place feels like an old farmhouse with rooms facing the pool. It is rustic and vintage. While the decor is not anything to write home about, the pool is lovely. The entire property is surrounded by a forest and a river runs alongside it. The property is absolutely charming. The breakfast features local products that were high in quality. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly go again. The couple who own the hotel and restaurant are lovely and we really felt welcome. 

One thing to note is that the pool has an alarm that needs to be turned off before entering. It is a French law, so it is not their choice but a legal requirement. Apparently, they had been closed down the previous year when something went wrong with the alarm and an inspector happened to make a surprise visit. I have a feeling the local authorities may have been extremely hard on them and targeted them because they are not French, but British. It is a shame that they had to endure that but now everything is perfect, so it's worth staying there. Any negative reviews are probably due to last 2017's problem with the pool alarm inspectors. I suggest you disregard those reviews because the place is nestled in nature and absolutely lovely.

Absolutely lovely and nestled in nature.

The setting is very nice. The rooms are spacious, warm and the bedding is very comfortable. The decoration of the common areas is very nice. The kitchen is very good! I recommend it! The people who work in this hostel are very supportive and very friendly with whom you can easily chat.

Family time in a busy place

We had chosen this hotel for its charm and its pool, which was widely highlighted on the hotel's site. Upon arrival, a very unpleasant smell of persistent indoor in the rooms and cleanliness to be reviewed. We learn that the pool is closed, bathing permit suspended by the prefecture and it does not seem to date from the day before. So we talked to the owner who advised us to look elsewhere, after he claimed to have deleted the pictures of the pool from the hotel's site, which was not the case.

FURIOUS

We had booked 3 rooms in this establishment that we were looking forward to discovering. Unfortunately, after 10 hours of driving we arrived in a deserted place. Despite the presence of 3 cars in the parking lot, light and TV on inside, there was not even a cat to welcome us. We spent more than an hour in the parking lot, in this ruined universe waiting for someone to answer our calls. In vain. However, after we managed to reach booking.com (which were very active and competent) we learned that this establishment was closed for 12 days. We had a monsieur on the phone to confirm our arrival for 3 days!! Bref, the next time we will have time to read the comments with the people who will be advising us about this establishment again because we will see that many people who are very reactive and competent!)

Running away!

A facility which is obviously no longer able to maintain itself because of the lack of human and financial resources, the ship is taking water from everywhere, the next stop looks like bankruptcy, the place is gorgeous, but it would have to be re-injected with great resources.

A Workman in Peril

I've never seen such a sloppy gentleman at the reception. Everything is dusty, sticky and full of spider webs. The room was a little better than the reception, but impertinent smell, carpet flooring, although access through the garden is level, bathroom from the 60s, halfway clean, wouldn't have been even scarier the accommodation I visited on booking.com before - I would have gone. Everything seems unattended, even the pool area that was the highlight of the heat.

Please clean, renovate and other operators

We arrived in rain and a cold wind and we're dismayed at the run-down appearance of the outside of the rooms. Our host greeted us with a joke and took us to a well-heated room which was comfortable but not inviting. First impressions of tired decoration were slow to be dispersed, but in fact the bathroom had been recently retiled and the paintwork is clean and also fairly recent. Everything is as clean as can be wished for, but the design and layout lacks flair.  (Why didn't they replace the minuscule bath and hand-held shower with a modern walk-in drench shower?)
Negatives aside, we really enjoyed our stay and found our hosts to be lovely people for whom nothing was too much trouble. The food served in the associated restaurant is superb and it is worth staying at the hotel just so as to experience it without needing to drive on afterwards.
