Our time at Chateau de la Marronniere was unforgettable. We were there as a couple and even though we arrived hours early, we were welcomed with coffee and cookies and a ready room. 

Every room in the Chateau is charming, comfortable and clever. Before being a BnB, the Chateau was the owners’ family home and you feel that sense of happiness everywhere. Our room was very generous and the bathroom even more so. 

We awoke every morning to a ready breakfast in the dining room - croissants, fresh fresh baguettes, cheese, apricots, homemade jams and delicious coffee. Even eggs from the hens if we wished! 

The owners are lovely and very good at what they do.

The grounds need a mention - they are extensive and beautiful. From the original moat, to a tennis court and a very large pool, to gardens filled with lavender and a vegetable garden and a playground for children, I did not want to leave. There are several other buildings on the property - one for weddings or events and another being developed. There are many comfortable corners available for sitting, reading or watching the wildlife - deer, bunnies, swallows, an owl - and not forgetting the hens in the coop and their sweet chateau dog, Noisette. 

If you are looking for a memorable escape, do not wait. I would return tomorrow if I could. 

Wonderful Escape 

We stayed two nights, the chateau and grounds are wonderful and rooms bathrooms are huge and comfortable. Mattress very comfortable, bed linen exquisite. Lovely detail everywhere but still simple and not over done. Gardens huge and a very substantial swimming pool set in walled garden (we swam every morning). New tennis courts, table tennis and two bikes to borrow. 
Breakfast delicious, with homemade jam, eggs, fresh fruit and cheese etc etc. 
Hosts understated, French and charming. 
We borrowed the bikes and did 30km round trip to Apremont and Mache. If you are up for a much longer cycle you can go to beach. All pretty flat dedicated cycle routes ....which suits me! 
We ate at Le Bistrot de Boucher on Roche Du Yon.....wonderful meat and wine. Or Pizza place in nearly shopping centre is good for easy dining.
Highly recommend. Fly to Nantes or we took ferry to Caen and had 5hr Drive .
Cheapest way is to book direct with the owners (couple) via website. Circa £120 - £135 for two per night with breakfast. 
We will be back for R&R. 

Totally fabulous Chateau, no detail overlooked.

Booked for one night but the Château de la Marronniere was so good we stayed for a second. The setting is beautiful & our hosts could not have been more welcoming & friendly. The breakfasts were yummee!! The Chateau is within easy walking of Aizenay with its shops, bars & restaurants. A real find, which we very much enjoyed. Thank you all!!

A Gem

What a beautiful location and lovely people. 
Gorgeous room and grounds. Very homely. 

I'm sure we will be back. 

Huge supermarket near by. Some good restaurants.  We went to the lake nearby and had a wonderful meal. 

The beaches are about 40 minutes drive 

Lots to do. Or sit by the pool. 

Superb stay

We booked two nights at the Chateau de la Marroniere based on a Sawday's review  (we had never visited the Vendee before).
The Chateau is very imposing (although hidden away up a not very obvious private road) and we were greeted on arrival by the owner and her adorable Boxers (Mum and puppy). We were given a very thorough tour of the chateau and it's facilities (including outdoor swimming pool) on arrival and then then invited to relax on the lawn and brought a drink.  
The rooms are large and beautifully decorated and the en-suite bathroom equally so. Breakfasts are excellent and huge (if you want them to be). There is an extensive list of recommended local restaurants of varying styles and distances away and Madame was please to discuss their merits (in fluent English if necessary).
Overall the Chateau is a good central location for touring the Vendee and is very relaxing in its own right.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a luxury couple of days away.

Luxurious Chateau B&B with hospitable hosts

I stayed one night this week at the Château with my family at the end of a few days at Puy du Fou. 
The family suite was great and the house is amazing - lots of history and beautifully renovated.
The pool was warm and lovely even though the weather wasn't the bests. 
The hosts were welcoming and helpful. 
What an amazing place to stay
