Completely overpriced and very unpleasant experience with the woman owner. Who was very rude and felt like she was only interested in getting us to pay as much as possible. 
I usually never write reviews but would NOT recommend this place. Very disapointing. There are many others in the area much more worth it.

To avoid

Room was spacious and very modern equipped with private terrace and beautiful bathrooms. 
Liked the dinner as well as the breakfast. 
Location is remote and calm, the premises are spacious with a very nice and quite big swimming pool. 
Great relaxing stay.

Beautiful rooms, remote location, good dinner

Quality/ptice range doesnt match. Bad service, food didn't taste good and unfriendly! If you want to eat with a big dog by your side while you wait for over 1 hour for food who doesn't taste well and costs too much for what it's worth than go there. We went there because of recommandation but it would have been helpfull to have real! And truthfull comments on tripadvisor!!!! 

Schrecklich! Eviter! Avoid!

The good message first: The resort by itself is a nice, quiet place with a swimming pool. Our room “La Vigna” was comfortably equipped, clean and well maintained. The WiFi was working at an acceptable speed.

But there were too many bad experiences: 

1. The resort is located in the middle of nowhere – at the branching of two district roads, D61 and D461. 

2. The rate of 160 EUR per night including French breakfast (August 23-25, 2014) is not justified by what the resort offers. 

3. The access to the resort is via a dirt track with more potholes and trenches than road, some of them as deep as 20 cm. When entering very slowly into the access road, the chassis of our Audi A6 was heavily hitting the ground. There was a piece of concrete sticking out of the track, scratching the floor of our car. Only by acrobatic snaking around the potholes and trenches we eventually managed to reach the resort without further ground hits. In our opinion a room provider has either to make sure that his/her resort can be safely reached by normal cars, or make a clear indication in the booking details that access is limited to off-road vehicles. Such indication was not made when we booked the room at booking.com

4. A huge dog of the landlord is freely roaming in the resort and molests the guests. Upon arrival, the dog come to our car, rose on his hind legs, put his paws on the driver’s side window, and eyed us and the interior of our car for a minute or two. The wife of us, who had been bitten by a dog in her adolescence, anxiously yelled when she became aware of the dog gazing at her. When she opened the door, the dog came around the car and started to lick her legs – a very unpleasant encounter for someone who had suffered a dog attack. The dog was also prowling around the terrace of our room for several times. In our opinion, landlords may have as many animals as they want, as long as they keep them strictly away from their guests. Otherwise they have to clearly indicate in their booking conditions that animals are freely strolling around in the resort and may impose unwanted contacts upon the guests. Such an indication was not given when we booked the room at booking.com

5. We experienced the landlord and the landlady as highly choleric and very unpleasant people who were not only careless about their guests, but also mobbing and harassing them. At check-in we informed the landlady about our car hitting the ground on the access track and a possible damage of the car floor. No word of regret for the bad condition of the access track. Instead, she recommended us to take another “private” access track with flatter holes and trenches, branching off the D461. However, since  there is no sign at the entrance of the better "private" road, every new guest must take the bad road when arriving for the first time. 

On the next day, the husband of us walked up the bad road with his camera to take some pictures in order to document the condition of the road in case of a serious damage of the car floor. The landlord followed him on a motor scooter and took him to task what he were doing there. After the husband had explained the purpose of taking pictures of the track, the landlord became very angry, barred the road with his scooter and demanded that we shall vacate our room, pay and leave his resort immediately. We refused his request because we had done nothing wrong and the room was booked for one more night. In response to our refusal, he called the police, most likely to assist him in throwing us out of his resort. Fortunately, the two policemen knew the law better than the landlord and thus could convince him that taking pictures of a bad road is not an unlawful act that would justify to throw guests out of his resort. Thanks to the French police we could stay on for the second night in our room. 

Upon departure, after paying at the reception, we informed the landlady that we would get back to her in case of a serious damage of our car floor. We also informed her that we would share our experience on booking.com and Tripadvisor. Having said that, she started to rant and rave at us in French which we did not really understand. When she saw our car heading towards the better "private" road, she rushed out of her house, leaped into our path with both arms stretched out and screamed at us that we were not allowed to use the "private" access track anymore. Obviously she was determined to force us into another ground hit on the bad road to increase the damage of our car. We ignored this provocation and pulled very gently forward until she and her dog eventually gave way.

Summary: This resort was the most unpleasant place we ever stayed in more than 45 years of business and leisure travelling and more than 1000 room rentals from any kind of room providers. 

Recommendation: We can recommend “Les Bergeries d’Alata” for all owners of off-road vehicles who tolerate to be molested by a huge dog and seriously harassed by a choleric landlord/landlady. All others should stay  away from this resort.
