The Maison Villeneuve lies on the 'other' side of the river in Albi, and while this involves a short walk to the main tourist sites, the convenience of parking, space etc far outweighs any disadvantages.  The house itself is beautifully kept, and our room was very spacious.  What's more, the breakfast was both copious and tasty.  It's hard to imagine a better deal, given the price charged.  Highly recommended!

A great base for exploring Albi

I  booked Maison Villeneuve and it certainly lived up to its review reputation, our room was lovely, spacious with beautiful en-suite and separate wardrobe/dressing area. Breakfast was plentiful and each day had a different touch  such as the 'navette cake' with local cheeses, hams and home made jams. The location was a 10 minute walk to the bridge into the centre of Albi with free parking available outside Maison Villeneuve and there were good restaurants nearby. Our stay here was really enjoyable, Albi was stunning and the weather perfect making it hard to leave.


Maison Villeneuve- lovely.

As said by others, the outside aspect gives no hint to the pleasures inside. Friendly owners, original decor in our room - black painted woodwork and floors! Fittings very good, clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast, and helpful advice re restaurants. Only a ten minute walk to the centre via the beautiful old bridge. Free on-street parking.

Friendly city stay

We spent had night at Maison Villeneuve.  The B&B is about 0.6 miles from the Albi old city center where all the attractions are located.  The city is accessible by two different bridges.  It is is not a difficult walk, a bit up hill at the conclusion.  Parking is very easy at this B&B which is located in a residential area.  We parked right outside the front door.  The older part of the house is, I think, 90 years old.  But a major addition has been added to the back.  It was in this addition that our room was located on the premier etage [second floor to Americans].  It was thoroughly modern with a comfortable bed, good lighting for us who need it, and a small walk in area with a closet and luggage rack.  The bathroom opened on to the bedroom with a modern sink and a nice counter.  The toilet was in a closed off area.  There was a very comfortable shower.  The view from the room was not much.  We opened the windows and let the afternoon breeze come in. 

Mme. Villeneuve is not a fluent English speaker and I am not a fluent French speaker.  But between the two of use we communicated quite well.  She was welcoming and comfortable to be around.  We were the only couple staying there.  Breakfast was ample, standard fair [bread, jam, cheese, ham, croissants, freshly squeezed juice, other fruit].  We had more than enough to eat.  The breakfast area, which is on the entry level floor and was part of the renovation some 8-9 years ago, is beautiful.  It looks out onto a small garden area.   We met M. Villeneuve in the morning and had a pleasant conversation about boules.  

It is no accident that this place is so highly rated.  It could be quite easily used as a base from day trips out of Albi.  Were we ever to return to Albi, we certainly stay there.

Delightful stay in warm environment

We were two couples visiting Albi for 2 nights. We stayed at Maison Villeneuve and immediately were made to feel like family from the moment we walked in. Brigitte, Jean , Margo and Theo were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. From restaurant recommendations to beautiful villages to visit, they had much knowledge. Jean even drove us to a restaurant for lunch during the day! The location is slightly outside the city center but an easy 10 minute walk to almost everything. The rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious snd plentiful!  Easy parking for our car. Overall, a wonderful place to stay when visiting this city.
