Firstly, to the moderator who reviews this before posting it please note that the map for this Hotel is not correct, Ally is near Bort-les-Orgues in France, not where you have shown! Anyway, on to the review, We stayed in this Logis over New Year 2009, being only one of the few Logis de France hotels that could accomodate us over this period. In many respects it is a typical Logis, simple yet comfortable rooms and a very good restaurant. The owners of the hotel run the adjacent bar / "Tabac" and it's a very simple yet homely establishment. Located on the "main" road in Ally however there isn't that much passing traffic so noise is not a problem. The rooms are basic yet functional, with a comfy bed and en-suite shower room / bathroom however these are a bit small so be warned! Each of the 11 bedroom doors are decorated with pictures of animals or the surrounding countryside which is a quirky but nice touch. The only downside is that sound proofing between the rooms is poor so every time someone in the next room turned on a tap it could be heard loudly and clearly in our room! The restaurant is spacious and comfortable and serves good hearty (and local) food. We were staying on a half-board basis so were not able to choose from the menu but this was not an issue as all of the "Plat de Jours" on the 3 nights we stayed there were wholesome and more than filling. There is not an extensive wine list but the hotel does offer a selection of local wines which are all very nice. The adjacent bar does seem to be the focal point of the village although the locals are very friendly, and quite noisy on a Friday evening and noise does travel through to the rooms above. That said, I think the bar closes at around midnight so it's not as if you are going to get a completely disturbed night. I believe the owners of the Hotel are 4x4 enthusiasts and I am sure will be able to advise on local excursions - there is quite a bit of information on local attractions in the area. All in all a very pleasant stay and nice way to see out 2009 and if we ever needed accomodation in the Auvergne again we wouldnt hesitate to consider staying in Ally again.
