We had a wonderful week at La Mediterranean, a very quiet and calm mobile home site with plenty of shade which was useful in the very hot weather. Pool and surroundings are lovely. Very friendly and lapful staff. The Little Train is an excellent way to transport you to the beach for activities or a wider range of restaurants and excellent value with the last return train heading back to the site late at night.

Lovely relaxing site

The accommodation small and extremely basic but we did have the most basic chalet which was 55€ a night. Mostly clean however some crumbs left on the chopping board from previous people and the sofa smelt slightly of wee. Beds quite hard, not exactly to my taste but my boyfriend said it was the best nights sleep he had had in ages. Campsite ok, pool area is the best part. Indoor heated poor and outdoor pool both really nice. Campsite very quiet this time of year. Wouldn’t stay longer than the two nights we did.

Ok for the price

Set meal €16.90. Salmon tartare with Granny Smith Apple. Grilled salmon and cherry clafoutis. Seafood platter, mackerel rillade. Situated on promenade very nice for couples. Seafood is there specialty but there is a sister restaurant next door which specializes in meat!

What seemed to be a very quiet, quaint and looked after campsite in the beautiful area of Argeles was completely overshadowed by our experience with the site's director. 

The site has a host of facilities including pool area, however, a lot of the activities were not available due to the time of year (off-season). The site also has WiFi available, if you are willing to pay a premium for it.

Although there was not much to do, the accommodation was very good and we were happy to rent a barbecue, enjoy the weather and relax around the chalet (Prestige Cottage, 4 persons). Unfortunately, one morning when making coffees, a mug was accidentally dropped from the cupboard, damaging the kitchen hob.

We quickly contacted site staff to report the accident and resolve the situation. After reviewing the damage, the site director explained without civil liability insurance we would be liable to pay for the damage. We offered to pay for the excess on the sites insurance but the director was unwilling. We travelled from the UK and our insurance doesn't cover accidental damage on somebody else's property.

A 'temporary' second-hand hob was fitted for the rest of our stay and we were told we would have to pay 250€ as the site had ordered the actual replacement. We were told this did not include labour as a show of good will. We asked to see the invoice for the replacement hob (to check it was accurate) but the site director refused and our party if we did not pay the full amount immediately, we would have to leave the site.

We accepted full responsibility and paid the amount requested, but no evidence was given by the site that they would replace the hob and in the end completely ruined our experience.

If you stay here ensure you are fully covered by insurance to avoid any possibility of this happening to you.

Great campsite overshadowed by a small accident

We were generally happy with the campsite itself, it was attractive and the facilities were fine. It was disappointing that the wifi was so expensive, this is usually a free facility on campsites so felt this was dated. 

We were staying as a group split across two chalets and we had an incident with a coffee cup falling from the cupboard and damaging the touch hob glass. My Mum reported this to reception immediately as we felt terrible for the damage caused. We offered to pay the excess on the site insurance for repairing this but when we received a visit from the site Manager it appeared they had a different agenda. 

The site Manager asked us whether we had civil insurance. This is not something we have ever been aware of as it is for the insurance of property, which is not something you usually take out when going on holiday and are staying as a guest on a site. Our insurance covers health and car hire cover. When we explained this to the site Manager he seemed shocked and said we would have to pay for the full cost of the repair. We then asked the site Manager why the camp site did not have insurance for it's chalets, as thought this would be standard if you own a business like this and are likely to get accidental damages with guests coming in and out. The Manager openly said to us that he 'did not want to claim on the camp site insurance because it would increase the premium'!

We then went out for the day and returned to a replaced hob. This was replaced within a matter of hours and it was obvious that it was a second hand one from storage, so we thought it was sorted and there would be a small fee for this. We were then handed an invoice for 250 euros. Upon receipt of this, my Mum asked to see a breakdown of the spend here. The Manager explained that the second hand hob was temporary and that they had ordered a brand new one. We looked online for the brand of the hob and could see that the total handed to us was massively inflated so my Mum asked again to see the purchase receipt of the hob and any labour that went into fitting this. The Manager outright refused to show my Mum any evidence of the purchase of a new hob and then threatened to remove us from the site if we did not pay the 250 euros immediately. During this exchange the Manager raised his voice and spoke to my Mum with complete contempt. 

We ended up paying the 250 euros as the Manager would not give us the information we requested and did not wish to be thrown off the site. 

I have never been more disgusted by this treatment. We did make a mistake and were incredibly apologetic and also honest about it. We were also guests of that camp site but were treated in a terrible way.

We will never be returning to this site and feel that the Manager should be reviewed in his role as his treatment towards us was disgraceful.

A pretty campsite was immoral management team

We were looking for a hotel in Argeles, and rushed into booking this online, when we searched for a hotel, thinking that was what it was. In fact it is a holiday camp, with a hostel style block with rooms close to the main bar area.

To be fair, the rooms were ok, and if you really wanted a campsite holiday, then this place seemed actually quite nice. It's sited a fair bit away from either of the town or beach hubs, but looks quite attractive with reasonable facilities.

Unlike us, it would suit better if you had kids it tow.

Booked 'by mistake' but just ok

We booked a week in a CAPCINO chalet from a special offer via 'Camping moins cher'
It was not a wise choice. The chalet was worse than a garden shed, I would not store my tools in it. There was an awful quality curtain seperating the 2 single beds from the sitting area The sitting are was smaller than our toilet at home and there were no chairs just stools. There were 2 gas rings, no oven & no microwave. The mattresses were old, stained and tatty. When I discussed the 'shed' with the manager he said it is what I ordered. I asked to upgrade to a mobile home and was charged an additional €150 to move. We had no choice-no-one in their right mind could have spent a week in the 'shed'. The site was unkempt, overgrown with weeds and virtually empty. The nightly 'spectaclars' identified in the advert did not exist. There was 1 show on the Saturday night and to take part you had to pay €22 for a plate of paella. The toilet door would not close in the mobile home we moved to. It took 3 days for a proper repair and the manager refused to refund any more. Argeles sur Mer is an un-attractive, over commercialised rip off holiday town with rows of smelly burger/hot dog and kebab joints. We paid £7 for 2 small (less than half pint) beers. Dont go here everywhere else is better and your custom is appreciated.
