We had a very 5-night relaxing stay at this beautiful Manoir. Annie is so attentive and caring, and respects our privacy at the same time. The breakfast was delicious and varied everyday. As a former chef, she has no doubt exceeded expectations by serving us with home made jams, juice and baked goods. The bedroom is spacious and the bed was nice and comfortable. We have access to the common  kitchen to heat up food and have a cup of tea. We also enjoyed the outdoor seating area which was nice and serene. Argentan is easy to get to and has charming destinations nearby such at Camembert, Saint Cenrei le Gerei, Vire, Flers and Livarot. There are castles everywhere and amazing restaurants (including Michelin star ones). Thanks Annie and Patrick for making our stay so nice in Normandy!

Home away from home

The Manor House itself is beautiful, with our ground floor room being very well presented. We stayed with our 2 golden retriever dogs and it was perfect for them with huge fields at the back to walk in along river bank where hubby saw a kingfisher and deer!  The hosts themselves could not have been nicer nor more hospitable, settling us in on arrival and then offering dinner 'table d'hote' that evening. We accepted and delighted we did. Her presentation, explanation and food itself were wonderful (duck to die for) and all in front of a superb open roaring fire for the bargain price of 33 euros per person. Add to this the lovely variety of wine served and you have the perfect stay! Definitely recommended for a quiet relaxing trip away though you will need at least some basic French!

What a wonderful place!

Owners, Annie and Patrick, were perfect hosts. Neither speak English I but had many conversations in French. Annie does speak Italian.  I was there for two nights as I was attending a wedding in neighbouring Carrouges.  The welcome was typically French and I was made to feel at home and that nothing was too much trouble.  I knew I would be back to the hotel very late because of the wedding but this was no problem as Annie arranged for me to have access to a key in the early hours!  Breakfast was superb with Annie's home-made specialities making this a 'petit dejeuner' not to be missed.

Excellent place to stay

Not sure how to review this.  It's not quite a B&B nor yet a Gite.............  We have just stayed for 4 days at this lovely house where we were made most welcome.  We stayed in the Rose room which was lovely, again, all as mentioned but just not quite.........  the kitchenette is a separate room downstairs & outside.  My problem is as a B&B I expected the room to be serviced (tidied, bed made and bathroom checked) every day, as a Gite then nothing till end of week.............  Unlike other travellers we were not offered an evening meal (good as prices quoted in other reviews were huge) Breakfast was more than OK and as the only guests, improved day on day. Please English people, do not expect a fry up in France, accept bread, cheese, ham, croissant etc (that's why you go abroad to experience life in another country..........)
Our biggest problem with this lovely place (apart from not being able to check in till 6pm) there is nothing to do locally (as a tourist) and Argentan is closed on Mondays :)

Go enjoy & visit le bistrot de l'abbaye in town - c'est manifique!  

B&B or Gite???????

We were guests in the Tomettes suite. First impressions of the Manoir were pleasing.
There are some stunning picturesque features on the outer facade and far reaching views of the surrounding countryside. 
The room itself is quaint, spacious and appealing, also triple aspect. 
The Gite is ideally situated for a comfortable walk into Argentan which is a pleasant town with many historical buildings.
The bed was comfortable. Excellent pure linen sheets and pillowcases.
The bathroom was well planned and as an added bonus when one opened the window in the morning the sunshine appeared to illuminate the outbuilding and flora and fauna.
The mist rose magically in the distance but regretfully that's where the magic ended.

There was a not so welcoming welcome tray, a few miscellaneous teabags and two sugar cubes and sachets in a tin. Fine  bone china cups and saucers and spoons but no means of making a cup of tea or coffee. 
The dressing gowns smelt of previous wearers and needed laundering.
The main dining room is exceptionally pleasing, however the breakfast was a BIG LET DOWN.
It may well have been the apple season but sadly apart from stewed apple compote in triplicate and apple cake with a couple of jam choices there was little else for the British palate.
We were offered a plate with 6 small pieces of baguette. We had two pieces each and when the next couple arrived for breakfast the bread was whisked away by Patrick and he added four more pieces. He then placed the plate next to the other couple far out of our reach. Goodness me baguettes are so inexpensive, surely he could have served a basket of bread per couple with some variety. France is famous for its selection of artisan pain.
He did have some mini croissants and pain au chocolate. Cheese was on offer but once again who wants to cut into a whole huge Camembert.  Brits are not fans of ham and cheese for breakfast.
There were also six miniature ramekins of rice on offer.
Patrick came in and served coffee, strong caffeinated coffee. No choices offered, just coffee, coffee or coffee.

Our fellow diners had a similar problem to us. The gent just had baguette and jam, his wife struggled badly and ended up just eating a morsel of rice and a small croissant.
They were not impressed. 
The third couple did not come into breakfast while we were in the dining room.
I would strongly suggest that Annie (who we never saw) and Patrick visit some of the other establishments we have since stayed at and where the breakfast selection was superb at no extra cost and in some instances considerably less.
