A last minute booking and our visit was intended to be just a single overnight stay but we extended to 2 nights as we enjoyed our stay and Sophie's delicious food, her recommended local sites to visit were perfect and the kindly offered secure parking put us at ease. Perfectly located in this historic town.

Couldn't have been more accommodating

We spent one night in this guest room and we can only thank the attention of our hostess who did everything to make our stay enjoyable. She recently resumed the 7th in Pompadour and she truly deserves all our wishes for the success of her business. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The evening meal is generous and has an excellent quality/price ratio.

Charming welcome

Café @ Le 7 is the downstairs of the Auberge 7 (Hotel) and is situated in the heart of Pompadour, just along from the racecourse and opposite the chateau. When you arrive you can either park on the road directly outside if there are spaces, or over the road in the large chateau car park.
They serve breakfast up to 0930 although we arrived mid-morning with our dog in tow. We entered and were warmly greeted by Anna the owner, who is a warm and engaging hostess and also a fund of local knowledge and information. It wasn’t overly busy at this time so we had a choice from the wide variety of mixed seating available, armchair, comfy sofas, small tables or high tables with stools. In keeping with the French tradition dogs are welcomed and provided with a large bowl of water if required. Anna brought said bowl of water for the hound while we perused the snack menu on the table and what we gather are a number of daily specials listed on a blackboard.
We ordered coffee together with cheese and ham panini’s which were all freshly made. As we walked in we had noted an outside seating area for when the weather improves and looking round the lounge area it appeared to have been be recently decorated. We started in a comfy sofa but when the food arrived transferred to a high table and stools. Hound settled down underneath and went to sleep to the accompaniment of an Adele soundtrack playing over the speakers whilst we enjoyed our ‘elevenses’. The panini went down well and we followed it up with homemade bakewell tarts which are highly recommended; three or four times the volume of the equivalent exceedingly good cakes, with icing on top and served with fresh cream and a dessert spoon, they are not the sort of cake to pick up and eat with your fingers. We stayed chatting for almost an hour until what we judged to be the lunchtime rush started whereupon we had to release Anna back to her other customers. Café 7 has a warm and cosy, hospitable feeling and relaxed service, almost a home from home.

Home from Home

I spent four nights there, the room is clean, the decoration is neat, the sanitation is well maintained, the bed is good, the main drawback is the soundproofing of the rooms, we hear everything, the English owners are very nice.

Good guest room

I often eat lunch at a restaurant on the go, which I particularly like because of the taste of the dishes, which I imagine to be home, and the unusual setting that gives us the feeling of having a meal with friends.

Unusual atmosphere

Had a beautiful meal cooked by the lovely Anna very reasonably priced. Welcome was excellent and friendly, nothing too much trouble. We called in not knowing the owners were English but it was also used by French as Jon spoke very good French too.

Food excellant

The service is impeccable. The food is very good and at a very good price. We had a very good time with friends. I recommend lasagna and meringue lemon pie. Everything is homemade. The terrace is very nice especially in the summer. Do not hesitate to come by this establishment when voting stay in Pompadour.

Nice and comfortable rooms

Anna and John gave us a friendly welcome.  Our room was spotless and very nicely decorated.  Lovely bathroom with good pressure in the shower.  Comfy bed (though we were awakened by a huge crash of thunder from a terrific storm).  On the day we arrived there was a music festival in the square across the road from the Auberge  - John was one of the performers - so of course we had to have cool beverages at the sidewalk café while we listened to the music outside the chateau. A great way to pass a Sunday afternoon.  We'd definitely stay here again when in the area.

Worth staying here
