Very comfortable hotel with warm welcome from Joelle. Bedroom was lovely with nice decor and bed very comfortable. Good breakfast served with homemade jams and additional coffee readily available in the rooms. Joelle gave good recommendations on local restaurants to visit. Lovely to visit the area and return to the pool, have a drink and back out for the evening walking into Ascain to local restaurants.

With a balcony overlooking the pool. It is beautifully decorated with a large bathroom and lovely linen. The weather was very changeable, very chilly early in the morning, but we were lucky on one of the days to enjoy sitting by the pool with a stunning view. This was very welcome as we had done a lot of travelling in the area. Breakfast is served on a long table with the other guests, fresh coffee and orange juice, fruit, yogurt and a basket of fresh breads. Not to mention homemade jam! Joelle recommended places to visit in the area and restaurants in the town. These were in walking distance - always good news!!! If ever in the area again we would definitely return. 

Lovely guesthouse with pool and a swan !!!

The owner Joelle, was very efficient. She realised that we were travelling from Caen, a long way North and sent messages to us regarding our arrival time. The room I had was huge with a lovely shower and bathroom. The breakfast was superb and she went to get fresh bread and pastries that morning for us. A jolly person who made us feel very welcome. It is a great location to explore the Pyrenees from the western side. We would not hesitate to rebook were we to be travelling in that region of France again.

Having decided to visit the Pays Basque region we looked for accommodation for two couples and two dogs.   What a great find this was.   Our rooms were very clean, well equipped and comfortable with great views overlooking Mount Rhune, spectacular!
Our hosts were really friendly and knowledgable of the region often discussed over a lovely breakfast on the terrace.  The area has some great scenery and excellent restaurants.  We would not hesitate to recommend a real gem of a find.

Exceeded our expectations in all respects.

We stayed in the triple room for 2 nights with our 6 year old. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was served on the terrace with wonderful views, and the pool was even better than it looks on the photos. Joelle is absolutely the right sort of person to run a place like this, so warm and friendly but not at all intrusive. We ate out during the day and Joelle provided us with plates in the evening so we could have bread and cheese on the terrace. We all agreed this was our favourite accommodation of our 3 week trip.  We hope to return and will stay longer next time. Lucy, Neil and Charlie x

Wonderful

I'm not a fan of b&b's as I tend to feel a bit like an intruder. Iratzean, however, looked nice & had some good reviews so we gave it a go...and it was superb!  The owners are hospitable, helpful and quite laid back so they create a really relaxed atmosphere and truly make you feel that you can come and go as you want, loll around the pool or open a bottle & enjoy a glass of wine.
The house is very attractive, spotlessly clean with a super comfy bed (the balcony room) and a great shower. Breakfast was a good continental. The views across the valley are lovely.
The big question is - would we return to Iratzean? The answer is - Yes, definitely.

PS - don't rely on Google Maps to show you where it is! The Tourist Office in Ascain is a better guide!

A huge relief!!!

As per the title this stay, the first family holiday with my recently arrived daughter, was one of if not the most welcoming stay I've had at any accommodation. From the beautiful location to the most accommodating hosts who did everything to make our stay most welcome. The small things made this trip and we hope to return in the near future. I'd certainly encourage anyone visiting the Basque region to base themselves from this fabulous location. Situated perfectly from Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint Jean De Luz, San Sebastian all within a 35 min (max) drive. Stay here, simple.
