We chose to stay in Asco as a way to see different aspects of Corsica on our small road trip - beach, mountain, city, village - and Asco seemed like a good choice for mountain and village, on the route we would manage to cover in the time we had.

First of all the service is very friendly. The day before we were set to arrive the management informs us of a) what we already know - that check in will be open from 18:00, and be) that we're free to use the pool if we arrive before they do.
We did, and while the pool is very small and was almost in the shade by the time we arrived it was a nice gesture.

The management was very nice and friendly, despite the language barrier -  something that is not always true in France - and we were made to feel very welcome.

Our room was spacious and had a nice view over the valley, but the balcony had no privacy towards the neighboring room. This had been more of an issue had it been warm out, but the evening proved to be quite chilly... and then the insects came: as night fell the glass doors became covered in flying insects. Safer to stay inside.

Some might take issue with the fact that the hotel resides at a hairpin bend in the main road further inland, as this means you'll first hear the traffic on one side of your room... and then the next. For us this was not a problem, not least because traffic is very sparse.

The hotel restaurant serves well cooked food, but a bit on the pricey side, and with a limited choice. There are two cafés in just at the bend, just below the hotel, but at least in September the close early.

Good service, average room

This small hotel is very Corsican, you get the feel for the people and the mountains.
Superb location in the best valley for walking, no through traffic.
We were greeted with 'have a drink on the house' - most welcome after a long day.
