before booking the hotel I saw it was not so noisy (being so close to the highway) well... we quickly realize where we are when staying in the room. Just before going to the hotel... you can stop by the restaurant in the gas station as this is where they deliver the code to access to the room. The room as such is not fancy but clean and good for few hours sleep. Location of the hotel is really appreciated for travelling convenience- Breakfast is below average both in quality and attention from the team.

as long as you know what to expect...

Motel is modern and clean. You do need to go to the restaurant at the fuel station next door to check in. Dinner and breakfast for one person is included for an extra 2 euro which is well worth it. Dinner was good. If you have a fourth person the fourth bed rolls out from under the single bed. We nearly missed this. 

Great for an overnight stop

Good motorway services stopover on our way home. Slept four (double, single and pull-out box bed). Box bed would have been too small for anyone much taller than my four-year-old son. Well insulated against road noise, we all slept quite well.

Can access from the services (on the peage section of autoroute) or from the back roads (follow signs from Athee sur Cher town).

Be prepared for late arrival and early departure of other guests. This is a place to get your head down on a long drive.

Standard meal facilities in services, restaurant and vending machines. We didn't eat here though.

Very cheap-accommodation for four, under €50.

Motorway services motel

When we travel (this was our trip to visit the Loire Valley chateaux and the room is well-situated to accomplish that) we always try to budget. We are a couple with an 8 year old and we try to minimize as best we can the extra fees some hotels tack on for the third person. We are particularly irritated when an 8 year old is only counted as an adult or when an extra 25€  is added to the bill per night for that extra bed. So it was certainly refreshing for all of us to stay there in a triple room for THREE nights for UNDER 150€ . For France that is quite a bargain and you get a lot. The rooms are a good size and are very similar to a motel that you would find in the UK or the US. There are rows of single story rooms with an  assigned parking space right outside your front door. The bathroom is also a good size with a shower but no tub. There is a flat screen TV. There is a double bed and a single bed plus a roll out stored under the single so it can sleep 4 persons if needed. The floors are tiled – no carpeting. There is also air-conditioning which we didn't need but if you visit in summer you might find that feature a real life-saver. So it is a modern, spacious, no-frills perfectly acceptable establishment at a bargain price. But this choice is definitely in need of some further explaining. The one problem was the housekeeping. The beds were made but the room, sink, floors were never cleaned in 3 days. The towels were never changed and on our last night when we returned, we found that all the dirty towels had been removed but no clean ones put back. So the next morning all three of us had to share one towel. We just looked at each other and burst out laughing. You, however, might not find that very funny. 
Now comes all the quirkiness. First off, the motel is gated, the gate located at GPS (47.302107,0.890437)  and sits next to a truck stop / gasoline station with a restaurant (Aire de services de Athée sur Cher on autoroute A 85 between exits 10 & 11). However you cannot open the gate and get to the room without a code. Evidently it was originally designed to use an automatic check-in near the gate but that's not being utilized anymore. You must go to the restaurant cashier (open 24 hrs and they were very kind) to check in. They will then give you the code so you can get IN and OUT. The next day when we returned from our touring we couldn't open the gate. Went back to the cashier and was told that the code is changed everyday. However, on the third day when we went to get a new code they gave us the same code from the previous day. Quirky, no? The next weirdness concerned the toll road. The motel sits on the autoroute so when you exit you will still have your toll ticket with you. You must be careful and this is posted in the room (in French only). You MUST NOT exit the autoroute with a ticket that was issued at the same interchange where you entered it. If you do you will be charged 58€! As an example, say you entered the autoroute at exit 9 then you went to the motel. You get up the next day and head out. You then exit the autoroute again at exit 9. You will be charged 58€. Secondly you have access to the hotel also from a non-toll road. There is a parking lot located off the D45 at GPS (47.301992,0.891678) fenced off from the truck stop. But understand you will have to walk from your car to your room which can prove rather inconvenient. Frankly, we always used the autoroute anyway as it was just more convenient to get around but you do have the option is you want to take advantage of it. One more item regarding your toll ticket. It is valid for 48 hours. If you don't pay the ticket (say you just parked your car at the motel for over 48 hours), when you go to exit the autoroute you will again face a 58€ toll. It's just something you need to think about. There is also a possibility of a package deal that includes breakfast at the truck stop. We didn't take advantage of it so I don't know the price. It actually might have been a good idea  as we ended up eating there every morning anyway. Good luck!

Fantastic Value!! - Terrible Housekeeping - Quirky

Great budget stopover. Good sized room with effective air conditioning and clean throughout. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing good advice on getting an evening meal and breakfast for the lead guest for only 2 Euros extra.  access direct from the motorway makes parking easy. Check in at counter in services shop to get code to access room and car park.
Just remember that the food is motorway service standard, and there is nothing else to do than stay in your room, so manage your expectations accordingly.
