We've been a few times now for lunch and dinner and it never disappoints.  The menu is creative and delicious.  The staff are always excellent, friendly (and funny!), attentive but not intrusive.  Perfect for a special evening out with friends or a celebration.   

Fabulous restaurant

This hotel really does need a refurb. The first room we were shown was in the basement and was really dark plus the furnishings were very poor. We did change rooms and it was an improvement, but for the money it is not good value.  The  location is the best thing about it and they don’t seem to have any competition hence the price. Unless this hotel has a major makeover I would not recommend it.

Needs major makeover

Avoid this new management at all costs! We were looking forward to our long awaited favourite restaurant in Aubeterre. Having visited the area for 13 years and this being our first time since lockdown. The previous owners were a delight, but what a let down now. We were met with a surly greeting and waited whilst sat at our table in searing humidity for 15 minutes without menus. We were ignored twice upon speaking to a waiter, who then stood around chatting to a coworker! Given the premium style and cost of this restaurant, we quickly realised these new owners would be disappoint. A huge shame as the old owners were lovely and vested in the quaint place. End of an era.

Avoid

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we did eat at the restaurant several times -= so this is a restaurant review!!!! And it is a good restaurant with a talented chef. In fact, we ate there 4 times, one of them being Bastille Day when there was a special menu to celebrate. The food is beautifully presented and the ingredients are of high quality - evident in the vivid flavours! I had everything from shellfish to pork and they were all brilliant, as were the fish that my wife ate. Having eaten in a number of restaurants in Aubeterre, I would say that this is the best restaurant in the town! Well worth a visit!

This is a restaurant review! And it';s a great restaurant!

This was very disappointing. Not a cheap lunch with a set menu for Mother’s Day. The dishes were definitely style over substance. The service was a bit lack-lustre and it felt they really weren’t bothered whether we enjoyed it or not, upsetting as my parents spent a lot on this as a family celebration and it really let itself down.

Disappointing

The Hostellerie du Périgord??? If you want to have lunch there, one day of the week choose another address. Because you will be answered very unpleasantly: you have not booked! we can't take you because we don't have time to prepare the fun mouths!!!. But who said that we wanted fun mouths, usually a restaurant has at least a menu and a card accessible to all. For who takes in this establishment, which in its lack of professionalism, reflects a disastrous image for all the restaurateurs in the area?

It never happened to us!

The quality is at your disposal. The service is pleasant and the dishes are beautiful surprises, both visual and tasty. In short I recommend this place.

A very good time.

3 nights stay in a very good hotel in the lower part of the village. I'll characterize the reception with 2 words: casualness and... hesitation between lack of knowledge or lack of education. Quite a small room with no particular charm, a half-baked bed. Internet and random TV reception. Transaction by the pool in poor condition; wear shoes on the terrace if you don't want to have scales in some parts of the wooden cladding. Average lunch with some choices of charcoal and cheese/yourts very limited. On the other hand, bread and wine shops. Very good reception problems at hours; if you don't speak English, go your way. I thought exchanges were impossible. I thought that the return of Périgordon to the French was in the 1450s!!!

The reception and service are very friendly. At the restaurant, each dish is like a table and what flavors! Excellent. We were very well advised for wine too, beautiful discovery of this Corsican wine. Our grandson enjoyed the fish baked at home

I recommend it.

Charming hotel with swimming pool and sports facilities, beautiful terrace, friendly reception, a small bemool for the restaurant closed at the beginning of the week, pleasant stay near the famous monolithic church to visit absolutely.
