This B&B was a wonderful surprise. From the very beginning when we booked, the owner Joel took care to write us and ask us when was the estimated time of arrival, and that our dog was welcome in the "House of Happiness." Upon our arrival, we discovered a very pleasant and welcoming B&B in the heart of the village of Aups. The room was delightfully furnished, the bathroom as well, the breakfast area in a garden created within the perimeter of the house was fabulous. Hearty breakfast, delicious coffee! Then the welcome from Joel, an artist and painter, made us feel at home! Very comfortable bed for sleeping. During our stay the room temperature was very hot (35°C) but the room, although equipped with an air conditioner, was well ventilated and we didn't need to use it. Very satisfied.

NOTE OF CAUTION: PAY ATTENTION TO THE INDICATIONS ON THE WEBSITE TO ACCESS THE STRUCTURE! YOU CAN'T GET THERE BY CAR ALTHOUGH GOOGLE MAPS OFFERS YOU! You have to park the car in AV VICTOR MARIA and then walk down for a short distance to the B&B.

Hotel clean and very surprising in good condition The manager is listening to the guests and available At least it would be the access for people with reduced mobility.

A beautiful discovery

We booked a room for one night. impeccable service, cooking room and perfect breakfast. The host welcomed us perfectly and is very pleasant! If we need to spend another moment in a remote place, we will come back 😁

We spent a few days with my companion who did very well. We were very well received, our host gave us information about places to visit, etc. The room was very nice. I recommend it.

All right, all right.

We had spent two pleasant nights in this place. The room is upstairs, short but narrow staircase attention, it is beautiful with a view of a lovely little courtyard. The house is located in a narrow alleyway in the village, with a winding passage between the houses, we loved it.

We were greeted with a lot of savoir-faire by the owner who, in addition to managing the structure, we imagine himself also devoted to painting for the extensive collection of colored canvases present in the layout. The structure has two independent rooms with private bathroom and offers breakfast included in the price of accommodation. A variety of marmalades and artisanal honey is served with the best fresh bread, orange juice and coffee; it is also served in the simple and fresh backyard, rich in plants and disregarded by a frescoed flavored cat, which is located near the edge of the building.

Kindness and courtesy

We stayed for a night in this lovely house with bright colours! A friendly owner, a beautifully decorated room with a great care for the details in the bathroom! Breakfast is good, simple and copious (with some fresh orange juice it would be even better!) and you can take it on a small bucolic terrace which adds to the charm! A good address to remember for a night up, even if the price is a little high (which may be due to the date of our stay, in mid-August).

The house of happiness is like life: very colourful. The owner is an artist, his canvases and sculptures adorn the house, it is really very nice. The room we had was very nicely decorated, without chickens but with a lot of small details. The bathroom was bright, like the other room. He even had a hair liner next to the hair dryer! The terrace is very nice for breakfast. Don't hesitate, for 75 euros the room with breakfast is worth the shot.

This is a small, friendly B&B, with a nice terrace and friendly service. We had a number of problems. First, the street view room has a separate toilet that requires you to descend some very steep stairs to the floor below.  Second this toilet is in a public position in the property. The garden view room may be OK, but we cannot recommend the street view room. Next, the booking website said that credit cards were accepted, they were not and we had to use all our cash and rush down to the cash machine. Finally the property is very hard to find, even with the owner's instructions. A shame as Aups is a great place to stay

Nice location, but problems with one of the rooms

A bit of a last minute find.  

La Maison du Bonheur is a beautiful small Bed and Breakfast located in the town of Aups.

1st of all the place is a bit difficult to find, don't be put off!  This just adds to the charm.  It is sat just behind a small church in the small, quaint and beautiful alleys of Aups.

Aups is a small town about 20 minutes drive from the Verdon Gorge, but Aups it's self is worth a little wander through.  The town is tiny, with little winding alley ways, small shops and cafes and very little traffic in the actual town centre.   

La Maison is owned by a local painter who has his work on show through out the house (don't worry, he won't try and sell you it!) and makes you feel extremely at home.  The 2 rooms are simple, light and clean with one ensuite and one with a separate bathroom and toilet.

There is a small garden courtyard where you can chill out. Having breakfast there, sitting under the olive tree, surrounded by beautiful flowers, again with a little bit of conversation with the owner is the best beginning for the day. 

All in all the La Maison du Bonheur is a beautiful wee place with character, quiet atmosphere and a good experience.

Definitely worth a stay.
