This hotel was clean and tidy very close to the station  and local shops. The guy on reception was helpful and it had private parking. Breakfast was a little disappointing. remember to have the code to get into the hotel if you are staying out after 22.00

OK for a short stop over

We booked 8 rms via Booking.com which may explain why we did not have any problems with getting our rooms like other people on the reviews. However, the owner was not there when we arrived and the woman on duty was foreign (not French), and got completely confused with all the paperwork but in the end we were given our keys and paid the bill later when the manager was back. Ideally placed for walks round the town of Autun.  I was a bit worried about the proximity to the station and delighted to find out that the TGV line is outside the town, so we had no noise at night.  The rooms were fine and for a short stay perfectly acceptable for people on a budget.

We had booked two rooms via internet and the hotel's website seemed to have accepted our reservations. However, when we showed up we were told rudely that the hotel had been fully booked for weeks and that we had to go look in another town! We went to the hotel nextdoor and were given two rooms on the spot! The Hotel des Arcades deserves to be blacklisted.

Stay away!

I had booked myself and my dad in to this hotel for 3 nights in June 2012 as we attended the world powerlifting championships. I booked the hotel 2 months in advance and I e-mailed them a week before to double check we had 2 rooms booked as I worry about things like this. They replied to my e-mail saying I definitely had the rooms booked for those dates, and I had the reference number. I also emailed stating we would be arriving late in the evening to check in as we were driving from the North of England. It was after midnight and we were still a couple of hours away from the hotel and having been driving since 3am the following morning you can imagine how tired we were and so we decided to sleep for a couple of hours in the car. We tried calling the hotel to advise we would be arriving in the morning but there was no response after several phone calls. We set off again at 7am and arrived at the hotel at 9am, very tired, very uncomfortable and considering my dad was competing in the world championships the next day, spirits were low. We went to the main reception where I handed the man at the desk our paperwork with our booking references on. He took the paperwork and looked through records and then started making phone calls. He then told me in very broken english that we were not booked. I then showed him the e-mails that had been sent between myself and the hotel, and funnily enough the name on his name badge matched the name on the e-mail, but he looked very sheepish and pretended he didnt know anything. He then put me on the phone to a french woman who asked if I spoke french, i said a little, and she started speaking very fast in french so i asked her to slow down so she hung up on me. The man then gave me a map of Burgundy and circled the name of a town and wrote down the name of a hotel next to it and then carried on with whatever he was doing, expecting this to be fine. I was highly annoyed, frustrated, tired...all I wanted was to sleep in a bed for a few hours, not go on a mission looking for a hotel in the french valleys. We left the hotel with no apology or nothing and we then made the 25 minute trip across the valley to this hotel in the middle of nowhere. Very very annoyed!

Terrible!!

Booked hotel 4 weeks in advance and arrived on the day to be told that the hotel was full, the guy behind the desk is the worst I have ever come across, he gave out the room we had book to someone else afterwards who offered more money and we where not the only ones there that had this problem as it was a busy weekend and he was trying to cash in as much as possible regardless if you had made a booking or not. He made no effort to fix the problem even making joking remarks in French to other staff, his English suddenly disappeared completely as soon as there was a problem. We only had a place to stay due to the French organizer of the competition we where attending intervening and finding a different hotel. This guy must be the owner of the hotel as nobody in their right mind would ever employ him, absolutely disgraceful, the whole thing took over 3 hours to sort out after a 10 hour journey down. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!
