Had the misfortune to step into the hotel restaurant and was handed a small 20 euro menu of a choice of two things for starter, main and desert,  Should have known to walk away when we saw the "chefs"  sat outside smoking and an empty restaurant. We were served bland tasteless food by a surly waitress who couldn't raise a smile if she tried.  The biggest laugh was the pureed melon with bits of ham in it,  We'd never seen that before.  It wasn't a pleasant experience at all the waitress kept looking at us as if she couldn't wait for us to leave unfortunately the feeling was mutual. It was the worst food and service we have ever had in all the years we have been traveling to France.
We hope to visit this beautiful area again next year but will certainly not be using this restaurant.

horrible food, terrible service

I recommend this restaurant to eat for people who wanted to eat fast food and with only fresh produce. We ordered salmon bread that was very good and nothing to be slammed with, as well as a cream chicken Norman, and a shredded pork coat. Very tender meat. Accompanied by very good homemade fried sauce. Which is almost rare these days to have homemade fries. That said, the reception is relatively neglected, it's limited if we're asked to eat at noon... They told us to sit down or we'd... They didn't want to accompany us to a table and they threw the menus on the table.

It's a good restaurant.

We went over to eat with the children. Given the cold welcome, we just took 2 beers and a fruit juice: Balance: Parisian rate, average cleanliness, and absolutely unpolluted beer! We have to do it for beer! we were scared, we left! Maybe the food is good, the room service is good, but we didn't take the risk, our wallet is already angry with the price of this little apéro (we are still waiting for the cookies!)

We stayed here the begining of September 2014.The hotel was okm the food was palatable, but when we whent to check out they told us that our American chsrge card, would not work in there system.They made me walk down the street to a bank, and get a cash withdrawl to pay for our stay, and dinner the night before. I have never been so embarrassed. It seem the manager or owner was there at the timeamNd seemed uninterested in our situation. Very disappointed. 

very dissatisfied

Old hotel, in its juice, which would need a serious renovation to give it a more pleasant and contemporary atmosphere... small and dark double room, uncomfortable bed and bedside in velvet cloth... hard to believe that the cleanliness is ensured! SdB with bathtub (10 euros plus on the room price (71 euros), but we didn't have a choice!). Clean sanitary facilities.

It's expensive for the service!

Hotel dated, medium room small, bathroom wide. Room cleanliness acceptable. Staff not exactly fluent in English, but fine anyway. High breakfast price (which we didn't consume). Boiler kit present.

Comfortable for Mont St Michel

We ate at this hotel restaurant because the roads were closed which led into the main town.   The food was very good, in fact the best  the moules I had tasted for a long time,  however, the ambience was spoilt by a surly waitress.  It made us feel that she was doing us a favour for allowing us to eat at her restaurant.

Great food, shame about the staff

Four of us had lunch here yesterday. We all found the food to be good and the moules frites were excellent. The problem with this restaurant was the attitude of the waitress. She was miserable throughout, dismissing my attempts to be helpful and pass our plates across the table to her with a resounding 'Non' and a wave of her hand. Two of our group were fluent French speakers so it was not a language issue. She must be the owner as no one would employ such a miserable, surly and rude woman.

a hotel where you can feel comfortable and enjoy a good service and we will definitely book there again when we are traveling in the area.

I 'd love to be back.

We ate at this hotel whilst visiting Avranches and I must first point out that we only dined there because most other restaurants in town were shut that night. On entering the hotel we almost laughed at the dated decor but as the evening progressed it turned out the biggest laugh would be at our expense. 

Just like an earlier reviewer in April we all ordered the 20 euro set menu and then proceeded to eat easily the worst meal we had all eaten in many years. The food was quite simply shocking and reminiscent of the worst 1970's fare. The seafood basket was perhaps the piece de resistance with  the three limp prawns presented on a bed of 5mm thick wet shredded lettuce.

The waitress was surly and unwelcoming.When she cleared our starter plates away and found that I had left my fork on the plate she just picked it up and dropped it on the middle of the table.

If you are in the unfortunate position of only having  this restaurant to eat in I would strongly advise that you eat the 20 euro note instead.
